Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan kajian awal dari penelitian utama terkait perilaku wisatawan terkait dengan trend wisata ala lelaki atau biasa disebut mancation. Mancation adalah jenis wisata yang hanya memperbolehkan lelaki sebagai pesertanya karena pilihan aktivitas dan destinasi wisatanya dianggap hanya khusus lelaki. Salah satu contohnya seperti aktivitas ekstrim atau sekedar memenuhi kenyamanan jika hanya diikuti lelaki saja. Tujuan dari penelitian awal ini adalah memahami empat atribut preferensi wisatawan ala lelaki yaitu 1) aktivitas wisata, 2) pemilihan destinasi wisata, 3) jenis transportasi, dan 4) fasilitas menginap. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif dari data wawancara yang mendalam kepada lima informan penelitian yang pernah melakukan wisata ala lelaki. Kriteria informan tentu saja lelaki, bersedia diwawancara dan pernah melakukan wisata ala lelaki. Hasilnya aktivitas wisata bukan hanya membutuhkan tenaga ekstra dan ekstrim, namun juga menghabiskan waktu seperti ngobrol sambil bermain games bersama. Destinasi wisata yang banyak dipilih terkait alam termasuk situs bersejarah sampai ke tempat yang nyaman untuk mengobrol bersama. Tidak ada preferensi khusus mengenai transportasi, tetapi kendaraan motor menjadi pilihan utama selain kendaraan umum agar dapat menghabiskan waktu bersama. Begitu halnya dengan penginapan, tidak ada kategori khusus namun mayoritas memilih Villa atau Hotel sebagian lain memilih homestay atau rumah kerabat.

Abstract

This study analyzes tourist satisfaction with tourist attractions at Saung Angklung Udjo. The research method used is a quantitative method with a questionnaire instrument. The population in this study were tourists visiting Saung Angklung Udjo, with a sample of 114 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that tourists were satisfied with the attractions at Saung Angklung Udjo. This is influenced by aspects such as activities, amenities, and accessibility, which are provided. Saung Angklung Udjo has provided an interesting experience for tourists through typical angklung performances from various activities, adequate supporting service facilities, and ease of accessibility, providing comfort for tourists. The research findings also reveal tourists' opinions on suggestions for future attractions at Saung Angklung Udjo, such as increasing the variety of themes and concepts of the show and improving the tour's cleanliness and safety. This research provides implications for managers to continue to improve the quality and innovation of tourist attractions, and the results are expected to be material for evaluation and input for Saung Angklung Udjo managers in increasing tourist satisfaction in the future.

Abstract

Banyaknya wisatawan Gen Z yang datang berkunjung ke Candi Prambanan dari berbagai daerah dan latar belakang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pergerakan wisatawan Gen Z yang ada di Yogyakarta dengan indikator jenis wisata, akomodasi, dan transportasi. Manfaat penelitian ini sebagai media informasi yang dapat dijadikan sebuah referensi bagi para pelaku usaha pariwisata mengenai pergerakan wisatawan Gen Z. Saat berwisata, tentunya wisatawan Gen Z akan membentuk sebuah pola pergerakan. Pola pergerakan merupakan sebuah perpindahan oleh wisatawan dari satu atraksi ke atraksi wisata lainnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif, dan teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan wawancara terstruktur kepada beberapa informan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah wisatawan Gen Z lebih menyukai atraksi wisata alam baik itu pegunungan maupun pantai. Kenyamanan dan kebersihan merupakan hal penting dalam pemilihan akomodasi yang sesuai selera wisatawan Gen Z. Mobil merupakan jenis akomodasi yang paling banyak dipilih sebagai moda transportasi saat berwisata, dan pola pergerakan wisatawan Gen Z ada tiga yaitu single point, base site, dan destination region loop. Abstract

As tourism becomes increasingly experience-driven and sustainability-focused, the role of tour guides has evolved into a strategic touchpoint that shapes visitor perceptions and destination image. This study aims to formulate and prioritize effective strategies for tour guide competency development using an integrated Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and quantitative TOWS matrix approach. A panel of twelve experts representing government, training institutions, and tourism practitioners participated in structured pairwise comparisons and SWOT-based strategy scoring. The AHP results revealed that experiential learning-based training and national certification systems are the most critical and high-impact strategies supported by public-private partnerships and emerging digital tools. Through the TOWS mapping, each strategy was evaluated for its strategic fit within Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT), resulting in a prioritized roadmap for implementation. The study concludes that a tiered, context-sensitive strategy—grounded in institutional collaboration and adaptive learning models—offers a sustainable path to professionalizing the guiding sector. This research provides actionable insights for policymakers, tourism educators, and destination managers seeking to build resilient and skilled human capital in tourism.

Abstract

This study examines the role of culturally rooted cuisine in shaping tourist satisfaction and enhancing the perceived attractiveness of destinations within the broader framework of cultural tourism. Based on responses from 289 participants, the research analyzes four core constructs: the culinary encounter, depth of cultural engagement, the symbolic perception of traditional food practices, and the educational dimensions embedded in gastronomic experiences. These variables are evaluated concerning their influence on both emotional resonance (affective response) and rational appraisal (cognitive evaluation) among visitors. Findings demonstrate that culturally rooted cuisine transcends mere sensory enjoyment, serving instead as a potent vehicle for cultural immersion and informal learning. Each hypothesized relationship is statistically significant, with tourist satisfaction emerging as the most critical predictor of destination appeal. Of particular interest is the educational value derived from food-related experiences—framed as the transmission of cultural and historical knowledge through cuisine—which simultaneously reinforces tourist satisfaction and enriches perceptions of the destination. The conceptual framework synthesizes insights from experiential marketing, destination image Theory, and scholarship on cultural consumption—the research positions cuisine as a dynamic and expressive medium of cultural identity. From a managerial perspective, the findings underscore the strategic importance of curating culinary experiences that are narratively rich, participatory in nature, and deeply embedded in local cultural contexts.

Abstract

The increase in visitor numbers during holidays has positive implications for the tourism business; however, it can also lead to negative impacts such as overcrowding, increased pollution, vandalism, and potential disorder. These negative consequences may affect visitor satisfaction, comfort, convenience, and safety. Therefore, the implementation of visitor management is necessary as a proactive measure to create a better holiday experience. This study adopts a quantitative approach using a questionnaire distributed to respondents. The questionnaire includes statements evaluating the performance of tourist destinations in Bandung and the importance of these statements from the visitors' perspectives. The collected data is analyzed using the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) technique with the aid of SPSS version 26. IPA is used to assess and evaluate the performance of destination managers by comparing the importance of various attributes of a product or service (i.e., the tourism experience) with visitors' perceptions of how well these attributes meet their expectations. This study aims to explore and understand the effectiveness of visitor management in addressing challenges caused by visitor surges and the extent to which visitor satisfaction can be achieved through the implementation of appropriate management strategies.

Abstract

This study examines how the implementation of visitor management influences visitor satisfaction at the Museum Geologi in Bandung, Indonesia. Although visitor management has been widely discussed in the tourism literature, empirical evidence from educational museums in developing countries remains limited. A quantitative descriptive design was employed using a structured questionnaire distributed to 125 visitors. Visitor management was measured through four dimensions—access management, placement of facilities and interpretation, regulation of support facilities, and time and space distribution—while visitor satisfaction was assessed using expectation conformity, revisit intention, and willingness to recommend. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings reveal that both visitor management and visitor satisfaction are rated highly. Visitor management has a significant and positive influence on visitor satisfaction (R² = 0.666; t = 15.418; p < 0.001). These results emphasize that well-planned visitor management enhances visitor experience and satisfaction, particularly through efficient access systems and clear spatial guidance. The study contributes to the growing discourse on sustainable and inclusive visitor management practices in public educational attractions. Managerially, the findings suggest that museums should adopt integrated digital systems and inclusive accessibility design to improve visitor satisfaction and ensure long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This study develops and empirically tests an integrative model of gastronomic tourist behaviour by connecting symbolic, sensorial, digital, and emotional dimensions of travel experience. Data from Indonesian domestic tourists (n = 384) were collected through structured surveys and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Results reveal that embodied gastronomic encounters—particularly haptic interaction with food and place—are the strongest predictors of emotional attachment, tourist loyalty, and destination advocacy. Place branding further amplifies this effect, while social media stimulation contributes meaningfully but only in support of direct sensory experience. In contrast, digital engagement and cultural immersion exert marginal influence, suggesting that virtual promotion or heritage framing alone cannot sustain culinary tourism. Theoretically, these findings sharpen debates on experiential consumption by demonstrating that bodily immediacy and affective resonance mediate the impact of symbolic or digital triggers on behavioural outcomes. This challenges cognitive and representational accounts that overstate narrative or mediated experiences in shaping loyalty. Practically, the study calls for gastronomic destinations to design strategies that privilege multisensory engagement—taste, texture, and atmosphere—while embedding them in emotionally charged storytelling. By foregrounding the primacy of embodied experience, this research reframes culinary tourism not as a matter of digital visibility or cultural rhetoric, but as a sensorially grounded pathway to durable advocacy in an experience-driven travel economy.
