Abstract

The feasibility study is one of the principal documents in building a hydropower plant consisting of technical, economic, and financial aspects. Contained technical studies on civil, mechanical, and electrical. This requires data on hydrologic, geology, land contours, river discharge, water catchment areas, and so on. Economic and financial studies include cost and financial parameters such as; BEP, IRR, NVP, BCR, and others. The installed capacity of a hydropower plant is given in optimization based on the Flow Duration Curve (FDC) and the Capacity Factor (CF) used the Newton Interpolation Method. The results showed that the installed power capacity was 11.99 MW. The water discharge was 31.603 m3/secs and the effective head was 37.5 meters. Annual income is around IDR 103.026 billion. Finally, HPP Lubuak Gadang is technically, economically, and financially feasible, so it is feasible to carry out the next process.

Abstract

This study evaluates the feasibility of converting oil-powered three-wheeled pedicabs to electric vehicles to support sustainable urban transportation. The research focuses on pedicabs in Padang, which are commonly adapted from motorcycles. The feasibility assessment includes technical, financial, and demand analysis to determine the viability of the conversion. A survey was conducted among pedicab users to assess operational costs, fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, awareness of green energy, and willingness to transition to electric-powered pedicabs. The technical design involved selecting conversion components, estimating costs, and analyzing post-conversion operational expenses. The proposed electric pedicab utilizes a 2 kW, 72 V BLDC motor, with an estimated conversion cost of IDR 10 million. The operational cost before conversion is IDR 150,000 per week. Financial analysis shows that while initial operating costs for electric pedicabs are higher, they become more economical after 103 weeks. The findings indicate that the conversion is technically and financially feasible, with 53.85% of surveyed pedicab users expressing willingness to switch to electric models. This study highlights the potential to reduce fossil fuel dependence and promote environmentally friendly transportation alternatives in urban areas.

Abstract

A portable fire pump is an innovative fire extinguisher with high mobility because this tool can be carried by the user. This tool can answer the problem of fires that often occur in areas that are difficult to reach by fire extinguishers in general, such as in forests or densely populated urban areas. This portable fire pump can be operated by utilizing water pressure from a pump that is placed near a water source and then the pressure is added by this tool to reach hotspots. Based on testing, this tool is capable of spraying water as far as 10 meters with a height of 15 meters. In terms of ergonomics and the risk of muscle injury from the user, this tool has been tested using anthropometry methods, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), and Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) with results that can be used by users without risking muscle injury

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the impact that occurs on conveyor damage during coal transshipment activities and to find out what efforts are being made and to overcome the impact of damage at PT. Pelindo Teluk Bayur. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected through interviews, observation, literature study and documentation. The results of the research show the impact that occurred on conveyor damage during coal transshipment activities at PT. Pelindo Teluk Bayur, namely all loading activities at the jetty stopped, then the transshipment activity process at Teluk Bayur was hampered, and demurrage was given by the buyer to PT. Pelindo Teluk Bayur. Efforts to reduce the impact of damage to the conveyor at the TCM jetty on coal transhipment activities in Muara Berau anchorage at PT. Pelindo Teluk Bayur is by speeding up conveyor repairs at the TCM jetty, diverting several barges that have arrived at the TCM jetty area to other jetty areas, changing vessel schedules so that there is no accumulation of vessels at Teluk Bayur and speeding up the loading of coal into vessels with the aim of not prolonging demurrage given.

Abstract

Piping systems are very important in industry, especially in industries related to fluids such as oil and gas industries. Some disturbances in a production or distribution process often occur due to problems in the piping system. One of the serious problems in piping systems is the flow-induced vibration. This vibration problem if not handled properly will cause damage to the structure of the piping system and related components such as pumps or other fluid machines. In this study, the influence of fluid characteristics and the type of support on the vibration pattern (mode shape) will be investigated experimentally. Fluid characteristics are expressed in air and liquid fractions. Two types of pipe support are simply supported and clamped supported in detail investigated. The shape mode of the pipe vibration that occurs is measured as a function of fluid characteristics and support type. The measurement results are experimentally then compared with the results of simulations conducted with Finite Element Analysis. The results of this study indicate that clamped support makes the pipe vibrate with a higher frequency, while fluid flow with a higher liquid fraction provides a higher vibration level.
