Abstract

The research objectives were to find out: skill levels, work achievement (in producing tables, cabinets, and doors), differences in work achievement, and wage rates received by employees in each type of product. The study used the Non Stop Method and analyzed the data with the t-Test. The results showed that the highest average work unit (unit /week) on door products (4.25), following wardrobe products (4.16) and the smallest on table products (4.06). The more skilled the employee, the greater the work achievement, and vice versa. Employee achievement II (medium skills) on desk and cupboard products> employee I (less skilled) at ? 5%, employee achievement III (skilled) on wardrobe products> employee I at ? 1%. In the product door, employee achievement II> employee I at ? 1%, and employee achievement III> employee I at ? 5%. Based on the level of wages received by employees (Rp. / week) the most unattractive product to beworked on (produced) is a table.

Abstract

Fuel oil and gas in the coming years will still be the main energy source in supporting community activities. However, the increase in world oil prices led to an increase in fuel prices including gas and kerosene. One of the alternative energy sources that can be used is the use of wood waste as fuel for households or industries in the form of biomass pellets (pellets). The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of wood pellets from laban wood (Vitex pubescens) based on SNI 8021: 2014. This study used laban wood powder from the stems, branches and twigs, and tapioca flour as adhesives. The size of the powder used was 40 mesh stuck in 60 mesh. The pellet stamping used a pressure of 60 kg/cm3. The wood pellets tested included moisture content, density, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, ash content, and calorific value. The test results showed that the stems of laban wood pellets produced better qualities than the branches and twigs parts although they were not significantly different. The range of laban wood pellets from the middle stems, branches and twigs were 11.27 ̶ 11.62% (moisture content), density were 0.34 ̶ 0.53 g/cm3, ash content were 0.83 ̶ 1,05%, volatile matter content were 71.20-72.00%, carbon content were 14.93-16.38%, and calorific value were 4486.46 ̶ 4514.46 cal/g. The test results were within the requirement of the Standards of Indonesia (SNI 8021-2014), the Korea Standard (KFS), and the Jeman Standard (DIN51371), except the density was not within the requirement of the SNI 8021-2014 Standard and the Jerman Standard (DIN51371). The density of the stem section was within the requirement of the Korean standard.

Abstract

The research aimed to assess villagers’s perception of Tumbang Nusa Village on the fire fighting activities (forest and land) by Manggala Agni (or Manggala Agni activities) and the relationship of each community's socio-economic variables with that view. The research is descriptive in nature using scoring, the object of research for the people of Tumbang Nusa Village, is analyzed by the Wilcoxon Rank Test and Chi Square Test. The results showed that there were differences in people's views on Manggala Agni activities between people who lived close to the fire disaster location and people who lived far from the fire location, there was also a relationship between the socio-economic variables of the community and the community's views on Manggala Agni activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of preferences and characteristics of orangutan nesting sites in Area Punggualas Sebangau National Park, Central Kalimantan using the strip transect method, a path 1 km long and 25 m wide on each side of the right and left lanes. Nest observations were carried out on 10 transects and the distance between transects was ±200 m. Based on observations of the habitat characteristics and preferences of orangutan nest trees (Pongo pygmaeus) in Punggualas, there are 13 tree species that orangutans like, namely Sagagulang, Bintan, Galam Merah, Kajunjung, Mahalilis, Pampaning, Tatumbu, Rasak, Tutup Kabali, Forest Mangosteen, Nyatoh bawui , Uweh, and Tarantang. The physical tree parameters (total tree height, tree diameter, nest height, and nest position) show X2Hitung > X2Tabel, which means that each variable has a relationship with the frequency of finding significant nests for orangutans to be nests.

Abstract

Community Forestry is one of the schemes in provides access to forest management legally to the community, so community forestry has a role in supporting the sustainability of forest functions. In line with the principles of sustainable forest management, community forestry management is required to maintain a balance of ecological, economic, and social aspects. The purpose of the study was to identify the species composition and estimate the potential biomass reserves, carbon, carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption, and oxygen (O2) production of woody vegetation in the Batu Bulan Community Forest, Tusang Raya Village, West Rungan District, Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Vegetation data collection with vegetation analysis techniques using the plot line method. Data from the analysis of woody vegetation was then calculated for the number of species, Shannon Wienner species diversity index (H'), vegetation density, and Important Value Index (IVI). Calculation of vegetation biomass using destructive and non-destructive methods. While the calculation of carbon, CO2 uptake, and O2 production of woody vegetation were each calculated using SNI 7724 (2019), IPCC (2006), and Nowak et. al (2007). The results showed that the number of woody vegetation species found was 31 species included in 19 families with a Shannon Wienner species diversity index value of 2.81 ("medium" category). Tree and pole-level woody vegetation was dominated by Laban (Vitex pubescens Vahl.), while sapling and seedling levels were dominated by Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) and Palasit (Canarium sp), respectively. The potential reserves of biomass, carbon, CO2 uptake, and O2 production of woody vegetation were 70.12 tons/ha, 32.81 tonsC/ha, 120.96 tonsCO2/ha, and 88.01 tonsO2/ha, respectively.
