Abstract

It has been conducted a study about the utilization of candle nut shell coal (aleurites moluccana L. Willd) as adsorbent for naphtole dye, which it aims to know the characteristics of optimum condition covering pH, contact time, and adsorption consentration, along with the adsorption capacity of candle nut shell active coal (Aleurites moluccana L. Willd) against naphtole dye. The characteristics determination of candle nut shell active coal was done by identification of functional groups using FTIR. The determination of surface area, porous volume and porous size using SAA. The characteristics result using FTIR exhibited that the coal before and after activation contains functional groups of –OH, Csp3-H, CH2, CH3, CO Eter, aromatic C=C, and aromatic C-H. while, characterization using SAA showed the active coal surface area obtained is 17,20 m2/g with porous voleme is 0,021 mL/g and porous size is 1,60 nm. The optimum condition of adsorbent in adsorbing naptol dye is 60 ppm, takes place at pH 5 with contact time of 120 minutes. The adsorption capacity measure result of candle nut active coal obtained is 3,850 mg/g. adsorption process of naphtole dye follows Langmuir isotherm with R2 is 0.8939 and adsorption energy is 99,942 Kj/mol.

Abstract

A study of the essential oil content in basil (Ocimum sanctum) and red lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) originally grown in Flores island has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to identify the chemotype of the essential oils obtained over stahl distillation using GC-MS. The Ocimum mainly consisted of 55% eugenol following by minor trans-alfa-bergometena, patchulana, and linalool. Meanwhile, the chemotype of the red lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L. rendle) were citronellol (22%), citronella, cyclohexamethanol, and viridiflorol.

Abstract

The importance of the role of water in life makes water conditions must be maintained both quantity and quality given the growing human life that also has an impact on the environment. The purpose of this study was to find out the condition and status of water contamination in springs used as drinking water in Nulle village, West Amanuban subdistrict, South Central Timor district. The method of collecting data is obtained from the field. The technique used to determine the location of sampling is the purposive sampling technique. The data collection stage is carried out by conducting initial surveys, determining sampling points, water sampling, examination of water samples in that way (directly) on temperature and pH parameters and in ex (laboratory) on the parameters of TDS, TSS, hardness, detergent, DO, COD and total coliform. The results of the study on both springs showed the value of each of the parameters tested was still within safe limits based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 32 of 2017 on Environmental Health Quality Standards and Water Health Requirements for Hygiene, Sanitation, Swimming Pool, Solus Per Aqua and Public Baths except the total coliform parameters in both springs that exceeded the quality standard by 50 amount / 100 mL according to. The average total coliform rate at station 1 is 50.33 total/100 mL and the average at station 2 is 107.67 total/100 mL. The status of water contamination at both stations based on the STORET method is moderate contamination.

Abstract

Water is one of the most important human needs, there for the availability and of water has to be protected from pollution. The purpose of the study was to determine the quality of the Spring based on physical, chemical and biological parameters in the Tailete, Netbesi and Oenise springs in Tublopo village, West Amanuban district, South Central Timor regency. The research sampling method followed the meet developed on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and determination of water quality status was based on the storet method accords to the Decree of the Minister of the Environment No. 115 of 2003. The results should physical and chemical parameters in the Tailete, Netbesi and Oenise springs indicate that meet the water quality standards based on the Minister of Health regulation No. 32 of 2017. However, did was not meet Water quality standards detergent and microbiological parameters, coliform in the Tailete and Oenise springs. The quality status of the Tailete and Oenise springs in was clasis moderately polluted with a score of -25. Meanwhile, class A Netbesi springs are classified as meeting water quality standards with a score of 0.

Abstract

Water quality is the nature of water and the content of living this, substances, energy, or other components in water as seen from physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. Pollution of the water environment often occurs, there by reducing water quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality and status of contamination of springs based on physical, chemical, and biological parameters in Baumata Village, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency based on the storet method. Determination of the location of water sampling is determined by the purposive sampling technique, while the water sampling refers to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Water quality measurements where carried out in situ and ex situ. Parameters tested in situ were temperature, tds, pH, odor and taste, while ex situ were hardness, detergent, and total coliform. The data from the analysis were compared with the quality standars according to Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. The results of the research on spring were reviewed from the parameters of temperature, tds, odor, taste, pH, hardness, and detergent showed that each value was still within safe limits except for parameters total coliform because it exceeds the required quality standars. The status of water contamination in springs based on the STORET method is lightly polluted.

Abstract

A study has been carried out to determine the levels of tannins and the effectiveness of Gamal leaf extract (Gliricidia sepium) as a corrosion inhibitor for copper (Cu). The objectives of this research were to determine the tannin content in gamal leaf extract, observe the corrosion rate of copper with varying concentrations of the extract, identify the optimal soaking time, and evaluate the inhibitory properties of gamal leaf extract on copper corrosion. Gamal leaf extract was obtained through maceration and confirmed to contain tannins using phytochemical tests. The corrosion rate and inhibition efficiency were measured using the weight loss method. The results indicated that the gamal leaf extract contained 40.42% tannins. A concentration of 10% of gamal leaf extract reduced the corrosion rate of copper in a NaCl solution, demonstrating the highest inhibition efficiency at 80.16%. It was observed that increasing the concentration of the inhibitor and prolonging the immersion time led to lower corrosion rates. In the case of a NaCl solution as the corrosion medium, the highest concentration of gamal leaf extract used was 10%, and the longest immersion time was 9 days, resulting in a corrosion rate of 0.0593 cm/year.

Abstract

A study of kojic acid production in the endophytic fungi Aspergillus flavus was conducted to identify the effect of kojic acid on efforts to prevent decay and manage the quality of shelf life of tomato fruit (Lycopersicum esculentum L.). The kojic acid obtained showed good results in preventing tomato fruit spoilage. The organoleptic test results on the texture and aroma of tomato rot stated the highest favorability in the test treatment with kojic acid, namely in the treatment of tomato fruit stored by spraying 1% kojic acid. The ability of kojic acid to extend the shelf life of tomato fruit is seen from its antibacterial activity and is able to suppress the rate of respiration and transpiration in tomato fruit.

Abstract

Penelitian pemanfaatan arang bunga lontar sebagai bioadsorben untuk adsorpsi warna dari limbah cair tenun ikat dan penentuan beberapa parameter limbah cair tenun ikat telah dilakukan. Arang terlebih dahulu dikarakterisasi untuk mengetahui kadar air, kadar abu dan luas permukaan bioadsorben menggunakan metilen biru secara spektrofotometri. Penelitian kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penentuan kondisi optimum adsorpsi yang meliputi massa bioadsorben dan waktu kontak. Kondisi optimum yang diperoleh kemudian diaplikasikan untuk adsorpsi warna dari limbah cair tenun ikat dan penentuan beberapa parameter limbah cair tenun ikat yang meliputi TSS, COD, dan pH. Hasil karakterisasi arang menunjukkan kadar air sebesar 4,92%, kadar abu 8,63% dan luas permukaan 62,895 m2/gram. Waktu kontak optimum pada proses penyerapan pada menit ke 60 sebesar 0,0659 mg/g dan massa bioadsorben optimum 2 gram menunjukkan dalam 20 mL limbah cair. Hasil pengaplikasian kondisi optimum menunjukkan efisiensi penurunan kadar arang dalam limbah cair tenun ikat sebesar 42,4 mg/g dan penurunan kadar TSS sebesar 69%, COD 39% dan nilai pH mengalami perubahan dari 11,13 menjadi 8,30. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa arang bunga lontar sebagai bioadsorben mampu menurunkan intensitas warna pada limbah cair tenun ikat berdasarkan ketiga parameter tersebut.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian dengan judul Penurunan kadar Ammonia pada limbah salon kecantikan menggunakan metode elektrokoagulasi dengan elektroda Fe. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tegangan listrik dan variasi waktu serta mengetahui kadar ammonia pada limbah salon kecantikan menggunakan metode elektrokoagulasi dengan elektroda besi. Kondisi optimum elektrokoagulasi adalah pada waktu kontak 150 menit dengan persentase elektrokoagulasi ammonia pada limbah cair salon kecantikan adalah 60,06%, serta kondisi optimum tegangan pada 15 volt dengan persentase elektrokoagulasi ammonia adalah 63,97%

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian dengan judul Analisis Komponen Kimia dan Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak n-Heksan Limbah Serbuk Penyulingan Minyak Cendana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak n-heksan limbah serbuk hasil penyulingan minyak cendana dan untuk mengetahui senyawa kimia yang terkandung dalam ekstrak n-heksan limbah serbuk hasil penyulingan minyak cendana. Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak n-heksan limbah serbuk hasil penyulingan minyak cendana diuji dengan menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) dan analisis senyawa kimia pada ekstrak n-heksan limbah serbuk hasil penyulingan minyak cendana diidentifikasi menggunakan HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak n-heksan menghasilkan nilai IC50 yaitu 568,775 ppm. Analisis menggunakan HPLC menghasilkan 8 puncak senyawa yang didominasi oleh 2 puncak tertinggi, menunjukkan adanya 2 senyawa dominan yang terkandung dalam ekstrak n-heksan limbah serbuk hasil penyulingan minyak cendana.
