Abstract

Simpulan: Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa terdapat pengaruh posisi E-Glass fiber non dental terhadap kekerasan Fiber reinforced composite.KATA KUNCI: E-glass fiber, Fiber reinforced composite, posisi fiber, kekerasanThe effect of non-dental e-glass fiber position on the hardness of glass fiber reinforced composite in fixed dentures: experimental studyABSTRACT Introduction:Dentures are the right solution to replace missing teeth. Denture bridges made from porcelain fused to metal are most often used in clinical practice, but have disadvantages such as being prone to breaking, requiring several visits, and requiring extensive preparation of the abutment teeth. Alternative materials that can be used for fixed dentures are fiber-reinforced composites with E-glass dental fiber, which have advantages such as good biocompatibility, compression strength, and aesthetics. The availability of E-glass fiber dental in Indonesia is still limited, and the prices are quite expensive. Non-dental E-glass fiber is generally used in engineering, while dental E-glass fiber is usually used in dentistry; however their composition is very similar. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the position of non-dental E-glass fiber on the hardness of fiber reinforced composite. Methods: Experimental research with fiber-reinforced composites using non-dental E-glass fiber in three different positions include the tension side position group, the compression side group, and the neutral axis group. Each group consisted of six samples and was tested using a Vickers hardness tester. Results: The test results on fiber-reinforced composite hardness showed the tension side position of the E-glass fiber had the highest hardness with a value of 45.77 VHN, the fiber on the neutral axis position had a value of 43.35 VHN, and the compression side had the lowest value of 39.60 VHN. Conclusions: The conclusion from this research is that the position of non-dental E-Glass fiber influences the hardness of fiber-reinforced composites.KEY WORDS: E-glass fiber, Fiber reinforced composite, fiber position, hardness

Abstract

Abstract: The use of herbal plants in the field of dentistry has begun to be widely studied, but it is still not widely developed. One of the uses of herbal plants is to make them as raw materials for mouthwash. Moringa plant (Moringa oleifera/Mo) is an herbal ingredient that qualified as an alternative antibacterial agent. The type of solvent, extraction temperature and extraction duration are some variables that can affect the extraction yield, but the dominant type of solvent for the extraction of herbal plants, especially Mo, is still not specific. This study aimed to determine the effect of solvent types on the amount of yield of the maceration of Mo plants. This was a true experimental study using a factorial complete randomized design with maceration (method of extraction) on Moringa oleifera with variations in solvent types. The Kruskall-Wallis test showed that based on the solvent type treatment group, a significant value of 0.003 (<0.05) was obtained, meaning that there was an influence of the type of solvent on the amount of yield from Moringa oleifera maceration. In conclusion, the type of solvent has a significant effect on the amount of yield resulting from Mo maceration. Keywords: Moringa oleifera; type of solvent; maceration

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) in World Oral Health Day 2020 states that around 90% of the world's population has experienced dental and oral diseases. Among them 78% occur in children or about 573 million children who experience tooth and mouth decay due to lack of maintaining dental and oral health, children who suffer from tooth decay will cause discomfort that interferes with eating and sleeping patterns, causing children to lose concentration and causing disruption of the daily learning process at school. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of busy book media on the level of knowledge of dental and oral health in children who came to RSGM Baiturrahmah. This study used an experimental design with a One Group pre-test-post-test design. Samples were taken using the Slovin formula, obtained as many as 30 students. Data were analyzed using the Wicoxon Signed Ranks Test. Based on the results of data analysis carried out, it shows that there is a significant difference with the test results of 0.001 (p <0.05) in the data before and after being given dental and oral health education using the Busy Book Media. Busy Book on children's knowledge level.

Abstract

Introduction: Dental anxiety in children aged 4-12 years is an obstacle in dental and oral health care. Anxiety management such as distraction is needed, namely a method to shift the child's focus to other things, such as the use of Virtual Reality (VR). Virtual Reality (VR) is an audiovisual distraction media that can reduce the level of anxiety and pain and unpleasant situations by displaying three-dimensional images along with VR glasses and their voices on the headset. Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the advantages and disadvantages of Virtual Reality (VR) as a distraction in dental management in children aged 4-12 years, cases of dental management using VR and, the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) as a distraction in dental management in children aged 4-12. Method: The literatures in this review was obtained through searches of the PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases using specific keywords along with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: The findings of the review of the five articles indicated that virtual reality (VR) was an effective distraction for reducing anxiety and pain levels in children aged 4-12 years undergoing dental treatment. The results of other reviews did not provide specific age range for its use, the ideal duration for its use, the management of adverse effects following its use, or solutions for children who are unable to use it. Conclusion: Virtual reality represents a promising approach for the management of dental management in children aged 4-12 years.

Alternative materials that can be used for fixed dentures are fiber reinforced composite (FRC) with E-glass fiber dental which has advantages such as bicom patibility, good aesthetics, and easy to adapt to the oral environment. Flexural strength is one of the mechanical properties in dental materials to withstand occlusal pressure. This flexural strength test is a description of the composite receiving loads during chewing activities. The availability of E-glass fiber dental in Indonesia is still limited with a fairly expensive price. Non-dental E-glass fiber has generally been used in the engineering field which has a composition almost the same as E-glass fiber dental. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding silane coupling agent on the flexural strength of E-glass fiber non-dental reinforced composite. Methods: The research method used was an experimental method. Data analysis used the One Way Anova test. The test results on FRC with fiber given 2 times silane have the highest flexural strength with a value of 215.63 MPa. Results: Fiber without silane has the lowest value with a value of 168.12 MPa. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of adding silane coupling agent on the flexural strength of E-glass fiber non-dental Reinforced composite and is expected to be an alternative to replace E-glass fiber dental with good quality and affordable price. Keywords: E-glass fiber, Fiber reinforced composite, Silane coupling agent, Flexural Strength
