Abstract

The growth of gated communities in District of Medan Selayang for 20 years is very rapid, the people today tend to choose to live in a closed community. The community considers that living in the closed and elite community is a matter of pride, even though it causes disconnection with the surrounding environment. This study aims to find out what is the pull factor of people living in gated communities, especially in Kecamatan Medan Selayang. The type of research used in the research are; Descriptive qualitative, then it is analyzed on a nominal scale and Likert Scale. This research concludes that the pull factor of residents residing in gated communities in Medan Selayang sub-district is a factor of Security, Access, Economy and Facilities, Privacy and Exclusivity.

Abstract

The pedestrian pathway can interact socially between communities. A pedestrian should be able to ensure safety and comfort as well as aesthetic value for pedestrians. The pedestrian pathway is crucial in urban design elements, especially in areas with high activity levels. As in Taman Setia Budi Indah Football Field, the existing pedestrian path is not able to accommodate its users. Both of the pedestrian materials and pedestrian supporting elements do not meet the elements of comfort and security and aesthetic value. The researcher tries to find modeling of a pedestrian path in that area which fulfills the element of comfort, safe and aesthetic value. The research method used is a qualitative method of observation. The method is analyzed based on theoretical analysis based on the comparison of the variable that has been determined. Through the theoretical analysis found several criteria pedestrian that meets the elements of comfort. The results of the analysis are then made modeling pedestrian paths around the Football Field in Taman Setia Budi Indah in the form of additional pedestrian width and other supporting elements such as seating, lighting, bins etc. to improve the safety and comfort for the walkers and utilization of river potentials in the area such as the attraction when walking.

Abstract

Signage is one of the constituent elements of the city; there are so many types of signage, this study is limited to one type of signage only which is billboards. The diversity of existing billboards will be interesting when properly planned if the presence of billboards are not set properly and by its function than it is not impossible that the expected atmosphere can turn into an unpleasant atmosphere and damage the value of visual aesthetics. In the aesthetics there are harmony and contrast; as is a theory that supports the success of the design of public space regarding aesthetics is good to avoid the monotony and has a quality appeal. The research problem is how the billboards influence visual aesthetics on Ahmad Yani Medan road viewed from the aspect of harmony and contrast. Population in this research is billboards located along Jl. Ahmad Yani Medan. To complete the necessary data in this study, the researchers conducted data collection through observation and also the collection of related literature which became the main instrument in collecting primary data. This study is descriptive in which the data obtained in the field is collected and then analyzed, and the results described gradually in the form of writing. This study found that the influence of the existence of billboards along the road Ahmad Yani Medan has not fulfilled the aesthetic aspects in harmony and contrast.

Abstract

The tourist market or souvenir shop is a place of sale and purchase transactions in the tourist area that sells merchandise. The tourism market can be classified into traditional markets according to the physical, time, area of activities and goods traded. The tourism market can also be classified as a traditional market according to its function as culture, a market that has multi roles, not only acts as a meeting place between sellers and buyers but the market also has a function as a meeting place for each of those who use the market. Trading is one of the economic activities of the Tomok tourism village. The souvenir shop shows a lot of variants in terms of size / area, shape and ownership of the shop. It is importance to provide the right model in the souvenir market area in Tomok village. The research is using Modelling methodology. The benefit of this study is to find a model of the souvenir market area in Tomok tourism village that meets the souvenir market criteria.

Abstract

Samosir Regency does not yet have a habitable residence because of limited income, so many of the people live in the villages. In addition, the Samosir region is also an earthquake prone area. Researchers aim is to create livable houses that are able to meet the health requirements and meets the need of resident in Samosir Regency. The design also requires special research on healthy and earthquake-friendly house. The method that will be used in this design are 6 (six) steps, namely ideas / ideas, information, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and action. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, the use of red brick with a continuous foundation of river stone is the choice of a good structure for earthquake-friendly homes in Samosir district. This residential modeling also included the social elements of Batak Toba culture into it so that this housing could only be applied in the Samosir Regency area.

Abstract

The tourist market can be classified into the traditional market according to the physical, time, area of activities and goods traded. The tourist market can also be classified as a traditional market according to its function as a culture that is a market that has multiple roles, not only acting as a meeting place between sellers and buyers but the market also has a function as a meeting place for cultures brought by each of them who utilize the market. Trading is one of the economic activities of the Tomok tourism village community to meet the needs of the community. Based on the condition of the souvenir shop building, there are many variations in terms of size, shape and ownership of the shop. One type of merchandise is souvenir as one of the facilities in Tomok village tourist attraction. For this reason the importance of providing the right model in the souvenir market area in the village of Tomok in order to increase the high tourist arrivals of tourist taxis. Simulation and modeling research strategies are a research that using imitation models of a particular process or system that will be examined / tested through a simulation process, both scientific and man-made phenomena. The benefit of this research is to find a model of the souvenir market area in the Tomok tourism village that meets the criteria of market structuring.

Abstract

The Batak are the majority in North Sumatra. The Batak tribe even has another sub-tribe, namely Toba  Batak, Karo Batak, Simalungun Batak, Mandailing Batak and Angkola Batak. Every Batak tribe has its own  distinctive culture and identity. Batak tribes have traditional buildings which are traditional Batak  architectural identities. The diversity of the Batak tribe caused the phenomenon of visual aspect equality in  traditional buildings because of the effects of secession and cultural integration. The Toba Batak  architecture has the concept of a stilt house and pointed gable construction in both directions and a peg and pen structure system is evidence of similarities with Angkola Batak architecture. Angkola Bataks are part of the Batak tribe. Angkola Batak is a tribe in the area of South Tapanuli. The Toba Batak is the center of the Batak culture. The Toba Batak has one of the traditional Sopo buildings, namely Sopo. Sopo functions as a barn, but also an art venue and meeting place. Angkola Batak has one traditional building that represents the traditional architecture of the Angkola Batak namely Sopo Godang. Serves as a meeting place for the king and the people. It is a place where tradition is based on Dalihan Na Tolu which produces consensus and mutual agreement (The King and People). Sopo Godang is a part of traditional Batak architecture that needs to be preserved. The benefit of this study is to collect data on traditional Angkola Batak architecture and data on structures that are characteristic of the Angkola Batak

Abstract

Medan City has a variety of ethnicities and cultures that cannot be separated from its past (history). The city of Medan, which is now known as "miniature of Indonesia", has diverse ethnic groups such as Malay, Javanese, Chinese, Tamil, Arab and European descendants. The Old Gang Bengkok Mosque is a mosque located in the city of Medan, precisely in Kesawan Village, West Medan District. This mosque was built by a merchant from China, Tjong A Fie, so that the characteristics of Chinese identity have strong characteristics in the ornaments as an implementation of an internal cultural mix, namely Malay culture and Chinese culture, in the mosque building. The result of this research is to search for data information regarding the visual characteristics of the architectural forms in this mosque so that later this collective visual data can enrich knowledge regarding the internal combination of different cultures but can be harmonious in one visual unity. The research methodology in this study uses descriptive qualitative. Kota Medan memiliki ragam etnis, budaya yang tidak dapat dilepaskan dari masa lalunya (sejarahnya). Kota Medan yang dikenal sekarang sebagai “miniatur Indonesia” memiliki suku bangsa yang beragam seperti Melayu, Jawa, Tionghoa, Tamil, Arab, dan keturunan Eropa. Masjid Lama Gang Bengkok adalah masjid yang terletak di kota Medan, tepatnya di Kelurahann Kesawan, Kecamatan Medan Barat. Masjid ini dibangun oleh saudagar yang berasal dari China, Tjong A Fie, sehingga ciri khas identitas Tionghoa memiliki karakteristik yang kuat dalam ornamen sebagai penerapan perpaduan intern budaya yaitu budaya Melayu dan budaya Tionghoa pada bangunan Masjid tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari informasi data mengenai ciri visual bentuk arsitektural yang ada pada masjid ini sehingga nantinya kolektif data visual ini dapat memperkaya keilmuan mengenai perpaduan intern budaya yang berbeda tetapi dapat harmonis dalam satu kesatuan visual. Metodologi penelitian pada penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif.
