Abstract

Stunting still be one of necessary state problems completed. Government through Long Term Development Plan National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, also sets a national stunting target so that it can down reached 14%. This is refers to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. Talking about the need food and nutrition fulfilled always started with attention to type food consumed​ as well as source origin food consumed. For​ that, in increase food quality required by the relevant community​ with prevention of stunting then needed introduction in development system agriculture organic for avoid pattern consumption contaminated food​ with material chemicals contained​ in product cultivated agriculture​ farmers. For this reason, community empowerment activities in preventing stunting through the introduction and development of organic farming need to be carried out. The method used in implementing this community service activity uses the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) approach to achieve the goal of preventing stunting that is right on target through counseling on the introduction and development of organic farming systems. The implication of this service activity is that there is an increase in community knowledge and understanding of stunting prevention. Farmer groups also know and understand how to make liquid organic fertilizer from household waste.

Abstract

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is a staple food commodity in Wamena, Papua Highlands, yet its productivity has declined due to pest infestations. This study aimed to identify the infestation of Cylas formicarius (sweet potato weevil) and analyze its impact on yield quality and quantity. Field surveys were conducted using a cross-sectional observational design, morphological identification of pests, and descriptive analysis of leaf, stem, and tuber damage. Results revealed that C. formicarius was the predominant pest, characterized by leaf perforations, stem cracks, and decayed tubers containing larvae. Such damage significantly reduced harvest quality and quantity, rendering tubers unsuitable for consumption and storage. The discussion highlights that humid environmental conditions and traditional farming practices increase infestation risks. In conclusion, C. formicarius poses a serious threat to sustainable sweet potato production in Wamena, thus requiring urgent ecological interventions. Recommended strategies include implementing ecologically based integrated pest management, such as crop rotation, the use of local botanical insecticides, pheromone traps, and farmer education.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berfokus pada pemanfaatan residu pisang khususnya bonggol dan batang sebagai substrat fermentasi untuk memproduksi Mikroorganisme Lokal (MoL) berbiaya rendah di Kampung Temia, Distrik Musatfak, Jayawijaya. Kesenjangan praktik pemupukan dan ketergantungan pada input eksternal direspons melalui pendekatan tiga tahap (sosialisasi, demonstrasi praktik, dan pendampingan) untuk membangun pengetahuan, keterampilan prosedural, serta konsistensi produksi dan pengaplikasian MoL di lahan. Integrasi MoL dengan kompos padat guna memperbaiki kualitas tanah. Dokumentasi lapangan menunjukkan keterlibatan aktif petani dan kesiapan adopsi, ditopang oleh ketersediaan bahan lokal, prosedur yang sederhana, dan penguatan higienitas/keamanan fermentasi. Program ini mengarahkan pada kemandirian input pemupukan rumah tangga tani (jangka pendek) dan perbaikan ekologi tanah serta efisiensi biaya (jangka menengah), serta merekomendasikan replikasi lintas dusun dengan kontrol mutu minimal (pH, higienitas), uji lapang terkontrol kecil untuk validasi dosis, frekuensi, dan analisis biaya.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan memberdayakan Kelompok Tani Kampung Temia (Distrik Musatfak, Jayawijaya) melalui pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik padat (kompos) berbahan lokal. Kegiatan dirancang sebagai pelatihan berbasis komunitas yang meliputi sosialisasi konsep dan manfaat kompos, demonstrasi langkah kerja terstandar, praktik bersama, serta diskusi dan refleksi. Bahan yang digunakan adalah residu pertanian/rumah tangga (jerami, daun, serbuk kayu), kotoran ternak, arang sekam, tanah, air, dan aktivator dekomposer; campuran diinkubasi di lubang kompos hingga matang (indikator: bau netral, warna gelap, suhu mendekati lingkungan, tekstur remah). Hasil kegiatan menegaskan tiga luaran utama: (1) peningkatan pengetahuan petani tentang prinsip pengomposan dan indikator kematangan; (2) terbentuknya keterampilan prosedural mulai dari pencacahan, penataan berlapis, pencampuran, pengaplikasian aktivator, dan penutupan; serta (3) komitmen adopsi di lahan sebagai strategi efisiensi biaya dan perbaikan kesuburan tanah. Secara ekologis, kompos memperbaiki sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologi tanah dan memperkaya mikroba menguntungkan; secara ekonomi, pemanfaatan bahan lokal menurunkan ketergantungan pada input eksternal. Program merekomendasikan pendampingan lanjutan untuk memantau adopsi dan kualitas kompos pada siklus tanam berikutnya.
