Abstract

Abstract

It is recognized that there is potential for local cayenne pepper growing in the Central Highlands of Papua, namely in the Hubikiak District. Local cayenne peppers are distinguished by their taste and rather big form. As one of the hubs for generating regional cayenne pepper, Hubikiak District offers its own-harvested, locally grown cayenne pepper to merchants at a price that does not match the capital invested. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the quantity of the cayenne pepper marketing margin in Hubikiak District, Jayawijaya Regency, as well as to examine the structure of efficient marketing channels that contribute to the welfare of local Wamena cayenne pepper farmers. Because a feature of contemporary agriculture is that farming is done with an eye on making money. Hubikiak District was the site of this study, which ran from June to August of 2024. Marketing channel analysis and marketing margin analysis were the methods of data analysis that were employed. The results of the study show that the marketing channels for cayenne pepper in Hubikiak District, Jayawijaya Regency are divided into two, namely the first marketing channel (direct marketing channel) and the second marketing channel (indirect marketing channel) and the most effective in marketing local Wamena cayenne pepper is the first type of channel (direct marketing channel). Additionally, each marketing channel has an own margin value. There is a marketing margin in marketing channel I, which is the direct sale of agricultural products from farmers to customers, valued at IDR 20,000. In marketing channel II, the margin value is Rp. 30.000.

Abstract

Many farmer groups in the community still need legal institutions, especially in the Central Highlands Region of Papua. Thus, this empowerment activity is carried out to optimize the resources of the members of the farmer groups that have been formed and explain the importance of the existence of a farmer group in the development of farming and livestock owned. The community service initiative employs the Community Based Research (CBR) methodology, specifically using the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) technique for training and mentoring. The results of the implementation of this activity were that the Bisimo Etaikena farmer group was required to have an administrative system starting from farming planning, documentation, or recording of group farming processes and results (both agricultural and livestock cultivation), and the ability to process agricultural products that had to be carried out, to help improve welfare—farmers in a structured manner and not only in obtaining government assistance.

Abstract

Rainwater harvesting is one municipal initiative that uses rainwater for everyday needs. Rainwater is very useful in meeting water sources for agriculture, homes and industries, but unmanaged rainwater can also cause disasters such as flooding and flooding. The rainwater that falls on the earth is clean water for living things. However, during the rainy season, when the catchment area decreases, rainwater cannot penetrate into the ground and often causes flooding. For this reason, this service activity is essential to help farmers meet their crops' water needs during periods of drought. This activity was conducted from November to December 2022 in Husok Village, Hubikiak District, Jayawijaya District, Papua Mountains. The implementation of this service activity will be implemented through the pilot project phase of the Kosabangsa program. This stage is divided into his three phases: the preparation phase, the activity phase, and the evaluation and monitoring phase. The results of the implementation of this community service activity were achieved based on the plans set and the tools made to function properly because they can accommodate and drain water to each holding tank in the middle of the land for watering the plants as well as being an alternative in providing clean water for farmer groups so they no longer have to walk far to take clean water. This is supported by community participation in accepting the technology made by the implementing team.

Abstract

Abstract

Innovations are required to increase the production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L), mainly due to the need for more quality land, such as dry land in Wamena. The innovation uses biological microorganisms that positively impact plants, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Therefore, this experiment aimed to determine the response of the growth and yield of cayenne pepper plants cultivated in dry land to the application of mycorrhiza. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design with one factor: the mycorrhizae dose (0, 20, 50, 80, and 120 g). The research results were analyzed using ANOVA, and the analysis process continued with the 5% level DMRT test. The research results on the growth of cayenne pepper are visible in the plant height parameters of the 80 g treatment (75 DAP: 93.4 cm) and the 120 g treatment (95 DAP: 103.3 cm). Then, the stem diameter parameter showed a real influence by the 120 g mycorrhiza treatment at 35 and 75 DAP and the 80 g mycorrhiza treatment at 95 DAP. The excellent response of plants to the 80 g and 120 g mycorrhiza treatments also impacted the plant's total chlorophyll content and the number of leaves produced, which then impacted the number of productive branches. So, the effect on the yield of cayenne pepper plants is that the number of fruits treated with 80 g of mycorrhiza was 89.7 fruits, with the weight of the heaviest cayenne pepper fruit being 68.0 g by the treatment of 120 g of mycorrhiza with a fresh weight of 17.6 g and a total dry plant of 10.2 g compared to the control. Abstract

Background: The conversion of livestock manure into organic fertilizer is quite safe and not difficult to do. Compost is believed to improve soil texture by making the soil more friable. In order to increase food security and raise awareness of the value of health and the beauty of the environment for farmer groups that raise pigs, this activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of farmers in Husoak Village. Contribution: Provide knowledge and enhance abilities for turning pig manure into compost that is good for cultivated plants, in increasing food security and farmers' knowledge about the importance of health and sustainability. Method: Conversation, Observation, and Socialization, providing assistance, engaging in manufacturing, and documenting Results: As evidenced by the number of farmers applying it—5 in total with 1 farmer serving as a pioneer in adopting the use of pig waste compost, which reduces odor pollution—the use of pig manure as compost is succeeding. Conclusion: that the compost processing training was completed within a month as planned, with the use of pig waste compost being observed in 5 farmers who had implemented the processing of pig manure into compost and had consumed the harvested products themselves. The next suggestion is to expand the use of composted pig manure as an agricultural input to ensure the sustainability of community agriculture
