Abstract

This research aimed to test the performance of turbidity and pH control devices using turbidity sensors and microcontroller-based pH sensors. This research was conducted from November 2017 to July 2018 at the Energy & Electrification Laboratory and Workshop of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used was experimental method with the presentation of results using descriptive data in the form of tables and graphs. The parameters observed were structural and functional design, flow rate, power requirements, accuracy and precision. Each parameter was repeated 4 times. The power required by the microcontroller device and sensors in operation is 4.04 W, the power requirement for four selenoids when working is 49.92 W and the power requirement for two DC pumps when working is 66.56 W. The average time for filling water to full storage is 16.84 minutes and the volume of water is 70 L, so the water discharge obtained from the calculation of volume per time is 4.16 L/min. Testing the accuracy and precision of turbidity sensors and pH sensors aims to determine the percentage of the actual value, the average value of pH sensor accuracy is 95.28% with an average value of sensor precision of 98.48% and the average value of turbidity sensor accuracy is 78.60% with an average value of sensor precision of 92.74%.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the roles of Agrosilvopasture, MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) Incubation, and financial literacy in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in rural areas of Indonesia. The study procedures were carried out from April to September 2023 in Pagar Alam City using indigenous communities and stakeholders associated with customary forest management, comprising 100 intentionally selected respondents. Subsequently, the Slovin formula was used to determine the number of respondents, who were then selected using a purposive sampling method. The relationships among variables, including Implementation of Agrosilvopasture (X1), MSME Incubation (X2), Financial Literacy (M), and SDGs (Y), were tested. Data obtained were then analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-SmartPLS. The results of path coefficient analysis showed that Agrosilvopasture had a significant negative influence on financial literacy but a positive impact on SDGs. In addition, MSME incubation yielded a favorable impact on both financial literacy and SDGs. Mediation testing validated that financial literacy served as a mediator in the relationship between Agrosilvopasture and the examined outcomes. Based on the results, financial literacy, Agrosilvopasture implementation, and MSME incubation were crucial for achieving SDGs in rural areas. These holistic approaches offered promising pathways to achieve various SDGs, with financial literacy playing an essential role in enhancing the effectiveness of the strategies.

Abstract

Community service activities in Putak Village aim to educate and empower farmers and housewives in utilizing plastic bottle waste as a medium for planting hydroboks technology for vegetable crops through a simple hydroponic system (NFT). This program is carried out for five months through the stages of field surveys, counseling, technical training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity show the effectiveness of the use of plastic waste as an environmentally friendly and sustainable planting medium, helping to reduce the pile of plastic waste while providing urban farming solutions in narrow yards. This training successfully improved the community's knowledge and technical skills about hydrobacca systems, which is evident from the enthusiasm of the participants and their success in growing vegetables independently. In addition, this program has a positive impact on the economy by reducing spending on purchasing vegetables and supporting the consumption of pesticide-free fresh food. The environmental impact is also seen through increasing public awareness in managing plastic waste based on the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principle. The success of this program can be increased through continuous education, such as seminars, plastic waste management innovation competitions, and the creation of educational materials in the form of videos and posters to reach more bans.
