Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol kulit buah rambai (Baccaurea motleyana Mull. Arg.) terhadap profil hematologi mencit jantan (Mus musculus) guna mengetahui dosis yang efektif dalam meningkatkan profil hematologi mencit jantan, serta untuk mengetahui toksisitas ekstrak etanol kulit buah rambai. Penelitian ini menerapkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari enam perlakuan, yaitu mencit diabetes yang diberi akuades (kontrol negatif) (P1), mencit diabetes yang diberi obat glibenklamid (kontrol positif) (P2), serta mencit diabetes yang diberi ekstrak etanol kulit buah rambai pada dosis 200 mg/kg berat buah (bb) (P3), 400 mg/kg bb (P4), 800 mg/kg bb (P5), dan 1.600 mg/kg bb (P6). Terdapat empat replikasi untuk masing-masing perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA dan diuji lanjut menggunakan uji Duncan (DMRT) pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kulit buah rambai berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar hemoglobin, jumlah eritrosit, dan jumlah leukosit mencit jantan. Dosis terbaik untuk meningkatkan kadar hemoglobin adalah 400 mg/kg bb. Dosis terbaik untuk meningkatkan jumlah eritrosit adalah 1600 mg/kg bb. Semua dosis perlakuan ekstrak mampu meningkatkan jumlah leukosit. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of rambai fruit peel (Baccaurea motleyana Mull. Arg.) on the hematological profile of male mice (Mus musculus), to determine the effective dose in increasing their hematological profile, and to determine the toxicity of the ethanol extract of rambai fruit peel. This study applied completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of six treatments: diabetic mice treated with distilled water (negative control) (P1), diabetic mice treated with glibenclamide drug (positive control) (P2), and diabetic mice treated with ethanol extract of rambai fruit peel at a dose of 200 mg/kg fruit weight (fw) (P3), 400 mg/kg fw (P4), 800 mg/kg fw (P4), and 1,600 mg/kg fw (P6). There were four replications for each treatment. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and further tested using DMRT at a 95% confidence level. The results show that the ethanol extract of rambai fruit peel significantly affected the hemoglobin levels, the number of erythrocytes, and the number of leukocytes of the mice. The best dose to increase the hemoglobin levels was 400 mg/kg fw. The best dose to increase the number of erythrocytes was 1600 mg/kg fw. All extract doses was able to increase the number of leucocytes.

Abstract

Numerous previous studies have proven the efficacy of dodecanoic acid contained by VCO as an antimicrobial, especially antiviral. The global urgency of COVID-19 treatment caused by the 2019-nCoV virus has prompted many researchers around the world to seek effective drugs to cure this infectious disease. Based on the claim that dodecanoic acid and its derivatives can be used as an antiviral, this study aims to determine the levels of VCO dodecanoic acid produced from the traditional yeast fermentation of Aceh, Indonesia. The making of VCO through fermentation with the addition of starter yeast as much as 10% in coconut milk. Analysis of dodecanoic acid levels was performed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS). The results showed that the composition of dodecanoic acid in VCO-pe was higher than VCO-ti. VCO-pe contains about 44.23% dodecanoic acid, while VCO-ti contains about 43.63% dodecanoic acid. The composition of dodecanoic acid contained in VCO-pe was higher than VCO-ti. The composition of dodecanoic acid in VCO has met APCC standards, namely 43.0% -53.0%. These results could append new information about the application of dodecanoic acid in VCO as an antiviral candidate against 2019-nCoV which causes the COVID-19 outbreak.Keywords: antimicrobial, coronavirus, COVID-19, levels of lauric acid, virgin coconut oil

Abstract

Tanaman puding hitam (Graptophyllum pictum L.) merupakan tanaman liar yang sering ditemukan di daerah pedesaan atau sengaja ditanam sebagai tanaman obat yang mempunyai kandungan kimia seperti alkaloid, saponin, tanin, flavonoid dan steroid yang diketahui dapat mempercepat proses penyembuhan luka. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh salep Ekstrak Etanol Daun Puding Hitam (EEDPH) dan konsentrasi efektif terhadap penyembuhan luka infeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode yang digunakan ialah eksperimen laboratorim, pembuatan formulasi salep menggunakan ekstrak etanol daun puding hitam dengan konsentrasi 10%, 15% dan 20%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa salep ekstrak etanol daun puding hitam dengan konsentrasi 10%, 15% dan 20% memenuhi syarat pengujian salep yang meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, uji pH, daya sebar dan daya lekat. Hasil uji terhadap luka infeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus pada mencit (Mus musculus L.) menunjukkan bahwa salep (EEDPH) memiliki efek penyembuhan pada konsentrasi 20%. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari mengeringnya luka dan mengecilnya panjang luka pada mencit pada hari ke 6 sampai hari ke 14. Graptophyllum pictum L. is a wild plant that is often found in rural areas or deliberately planted as medicinal plants that have chemical contents such as alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids and steroids which are known to accelerate the wound healing process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ointment Graptophyllum pictum Leaf Ethanol Extract (EEDPH) and effective concentration on wound healing of Staphylococcus aureus infection. The method used is laboratory experiments, making ointment formulations using ethanol extracts of Graptophyllum pictum leaves with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20%. The results showed that the ointment of Graptophyllum pictum leaves ethanol extract with a concentration of 10%, 15% and 20% met the conditions of the ointment test which included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH test, spreadability and adhesion. Test results on Staphylococcus aureus bacterial wound infections in mice (Mus musculus L.) showed that the ointment (EEDPH) had a healing effect at a concentration of 20%. This can be seen from the drying of the wound and the reduced length of the wound in mice on the 6th day to the 14th day.
