Abstract

Fulfilling the needs and quality of clean water for each tenant in an industrial area is the responsibility of the management of the industrial area, as is the case with PT. Kawasan Industri Gresik. The monthly clean water consumption of each tenant always fluctuates, because each tenant's water needs vary according to the company's business line. Therefore, a prediction or forecasting is needed regarding clean water consumption by tenants at PT. Kawasan Industri Gresik to ensure the availability of treated water in the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) unit so that it can meet the needs of each tenant for the next 12 months. Apart from ensuring the quantity of water, the industrial area must also ensure the quality of the water to be distributed so that it remains in accordance with the required quality standards. This study regarding clean water needs is based on data on clean water consumption of tenants at PT. Kawasan Industri Gresik in 2021-2023 then forecasting is carried out using the time series method. The results of forecasting showed that the best prediction method was Double Exponential Smoothing based on the smallest Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value is 6,66%. Comparison of forecasting results and data, the production design capacity of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) unit is still sufficient to meet the water needs of each tenant until 2024. The quality of the water that will be distributed is in accordance with water quality standards for hygiene and sanitation purposes in accordance with Minister of Health Regulations Number 2 of 2023.

Abstract

Black carbon (BC), a harmful air pollutant, poses significant risks to human health. As students spend most of their time indoors and a third in school, the educational environment deserves special attention; however, most previous research has focused on the assessment of the pollutant itself in the classroom. Therefore, this work aims to extend the characterisation of BC in universities by considering different indoor microenvironments, infiltration factors and estimating exposures for healthy children and adults. In this study, BC concentrations were measured in four room types: cafeteria, gym, office room and classroom. The average BC observed in the cafeteria (599 ng m-³), gymnasium (987 ng m-³), office (830 ng m-³) and classroom (548 ng m-³) were. Of these, the gymnasium had the highest mean concentration, consistent with its high indoor/outdoor (I/O) ratio of 1.11, indicating significant indoor sources of BC. Exposure levels correlated directly with BC concentrations, with adults having higher deposition rates compared to children. These results provide insights into the spatial variation of BC in indoor environments, with implications for air quality control and health risk assessment for occupants.

Abstract

The telecommunications industry heavily relies on operational vehicles to support network maintenance and customer service activities. This study aims to analyze the environmental impact resulting from the emissions of operational vehicles at PT. X, focusing on the East Java operational region. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted in accordance with ISO 14040, emphasizing the vehicle use phase. Primary data includes gasoline consumption and a total distance during the 2024 operational year. The analysis was performed using OpenLCA software with the Ecoinvent 3.3 database and the ReCipe Midpoint (H) method to quantify emissions and their associated environmental impacts. Results indicate that carbon dioxide (CO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOₓ), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), and particulate matter (PM10) are the primary contributors to environmental impact categories such as climate change, marine eutrophication, particulate matter formation, photochemical oxidant formation, and terrestrial acidification. The findings provide a quantitative basis for evaluating the environmental burden of operational fleets and highlight the importance of implementing efficient fleet management, eco-driving practices, and integrated emission reduction policies as part of corporate sustainability strategies.

Abstract

Klotok landfill is a final waste processing site in the City of Kediri that has been operating since 1992 to manage waste in the Kediri City and its surroundings. Waste management activities at the Klotok TPA generate emissions from the waste pile and heavy equipment activities. This study aims to determine the air quality at the Klotok Landfill through direct measurements to obtain results with a more accurate approach. The measurement results will then be modeled with AERMOD software to determine the distribution of these pollutants to the area around the TPA. In this study, air quality measurements were carried out at three points in the Klotok TPA to determine the level of pollution that occurred. Air quality is measured directly using a High Volume Air Sampler (HVAS), Impinger, and Sound Level Meter. Air pollutant parameters measured included Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Total Suspended Particulate (TSP), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Oxidants (O3), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Lead (Pb), Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC), Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5), PM10, Ammonia (NH3), and noise. The measurement results show that the CO parameter exceeds theambient air quality standards of PP No. 22 Year 2021 at the weighbridge and the landfill 3 with values of 13,750 and 18,750 µg/Nm3 respectively, while other parameters still meet the quality standard. The model with AERMOD software shows the dispersion of CO nearby the landfill area occurs quickly so that since the first 100 meters the CO concentration has been dispersed to below 10 µg/Nm3. CO concentrations at a distance of more than 1 km from the Klotok TPA are generally below 1 µg/Nm3.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The primary clarifier plays a crucial role in wastewater treatment systems, serving to separate suspended solids from effluent prior to biological processing. At the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of PT.X, a paper manufacturing company, operational issues were identified in the form of incomplete sludge settling, resulting in sludge carry-over through the overflow outlet. This condition contributes to increased organic and solid loads on subsequent treatment units and reduces overall process efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the primary clarifier by analyzing detention time, total suspended solids (TSS), and sedimentation velocity. The methods include flow rate measurement, laboratory testing of TSS at both inlet and outlet points, and graphical analysis of the relationship between settling velocity and removal efficiency. Results indicate that TSS reduction efficiency can be improved by adjusting influent flow rates, optimizing the use of flocculants, and refining hydraulic design parameters. Technical recommendations are proposed to enhance clarifier performance and support a more effective and sustainable wastewater treatment process.
