Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Diabetes Melitus, Remaja, Edukasi Kesehatan, Video Edukasi  ABSTRACT The implementation of diabetes prevention programs in schools presents several significant challenges. Many educational institutions lack comprehensive health education programs, particularly preventing chronic illnesses like diabetes mellitus. This is due to several factors, including limited resources, a lack of competent health educators, and insufficient attention from schools and parents on early diabetes prevention. One study sought to prevent the development of diabetes mellitus in adolescents through educational videos on diabetes and its prevention. The study involved 36 high school students from SMA Muhammadiyah 1 in Pontianak. The students' knowledge levels were assessed on two occasions: before the educational intervention (pre-test) and after the educational intervention (post-test), utilizing a questionnaire on diabetes mellitus knowledge and its prevention. The findings indicated a notable enhancement in the students' knowledge following the intervention, with the proportion of students demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of diabetes prevention increasing from 55.6% to 77.8%, and no students exhibiting a deficient comprehension of the subject matter. These observations imply that educational videos can be an efficacious approach to facilitating students' comprehension of diabetes prevention. These findings underscore the need to implement interactive education in schools to enhance kids' knowledge and comprehension of chronic illness prevention from an early age. Consequently, schools must prioritize the establishment of comprehensive health education programs to avert diabetes mellitus in adolescents. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, Adolescent, Health Education, Educational Video

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants are at risk of experiencing growth and developmental disorders as well as health complications. One of the non-pharmacological approaches to improve the weight of LBW infants is lullaby music therapy, which consists of soft and rhythmic music believed to have a calming effect, stimulate the sucking reflex, and improve the quality of the infant’s sleep. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of lullaby music therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention in increasing the weight of LBW infants. The intervention was carried out by playing lullaby music for 20–30 minutes, 2–3 times per day, for three consecutive days. The results showed that lullaby music therapy administered for three consecutive days led to changes in the infants’ weight. During the first two days, there was a decrease in weight; however, on the third day, an increase was observed. Lullaby music therapy also had positive effects on improving the sucking reflex and stabilizing the infants’ physiological parameters. These findings indicate that lullaby music contributes to enhancing feeding processes and nutritional intake, which ultimately support weight gain in LBW infants. The conclusion of this study is that lullaby music therapy is effective in supporting weight gain, improving the sucking reflex, and maintaining physiological stability in LBW infants. This therapy may be considered a non-pharmacological intervention in neonatal nursing; however, further research with larger sample sizes is needed to strengthen its scientific basis.

Abstract

This case report aims to describe the holistic nursing care provided to three patients following cystectomy surgery due to Endometriosis. The three subjects, Mrs. E (33 years old), Mrs. F (30 years old), and Mrs. G (35 years old), were admitted on the first postoperative day with chief complaints of Acute Pain and Impaired Physical Mobility. Assessment revealed that Mrs. E experienced Acute Pain with a score of 8 on the surgical incision site, required total bed rest, and had elevated Leukocyte levels (15,600/µL). Similar findings in Mrs. F and Mrs. G also indicated acute pain of high intensity and immobility. The primary nursing diagnoses established for all three cases were Acute Pain (D.0077), Impaired Physical Mobility (D.0054), and Risk for Infection (D.0147). Interventions focused on non-pharmacological pain management (deep breathing technique) and gradual early mobilization. Following 3x24 hours of nursing implementation, a significant decrease in pain intensity was observed (Mrs. E's pain decreased from a score of 8 to 3) and an improvement in mobility ability was noted in all three cases. The integrated nursing interventions demonstrated a positive effect on reducing pain and enhancing the functional mobility of the postoperative patients.
