Abstract

Abstract. This research examines the impact of personal competencies on individual work performance when performing maintenance activities and examines job specialization, formalization, and centralization as moderator variables. For the analysis, we use questionnaires data from 741 respondents of maintenance officers in the Signalling and Telecommunication Departement at PT KAI (Persero). The results showed that personal competencies significantly affecting individual work performance with a correlation value of 0.001 ( <0.05), and other results related to job Specialization and Centralization as moderator variables demonstrated that these two variables could not be treated as moderators in strengthening the relationship between personal competencies and performance.  The results showed correlation value of 0.847 ( >0.05) and 0. 173 (>0.05), respectively. This research's formalization variable was not used in the hypothesis testing stage as a moderator because it lacked instrument validity. This study recommends that maintenance officers have better individual work performance when management focuses on increasing the personal competencies or focuses on increasing competencies in work fields that require special skills by the scope of work they face. Keywords:  Personal Competencies. Abstract

In this study, we examined the effect of pay level satisfaction on individual work performance moderated by person–environment fits, namely person–job fit, person–organisation fit, and person–group fit. This study used a survey questionnaire of 297 conductors of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Persero. The study results show that pay level satisfaction has a positive and significant association with individual work performance. In contrast, person–environment fit does not affect individual work performance, as the unsupported analysis results evidence. This article concludes with directions for future research on the relationships among pay level satisfaction, person–environment fit, and individual work performance and their various implications for management practice.

Abstract

This study aims at examining the effect of training results perceptions on individual work performance of employee, and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation serving as moderation strengthening that effect. T his study was quantitative research selecting 453 samples out of 1.311 population from PT KAI’s employees in which they are executive officer. The data collection was done using a close questionnaire with Likert scale 1-5. All valid and reliable instruments were assessed through Factor Analysis and Cronbach's Alpha Analysis. Hypothesis testing is carried out using Hierarchical Regression Analysis by including the Multicollinearity test as a prerequisite for analysis. The study results showed that training result perceptions and extrinsic motivation simultaneously or partially have a positive and significant effect on individual work performance of employee, but intrinsic motivation have no significant effect. Intrinsic or extrinsic motivation does not moderate or strengthen the relationship between training result perceptions and individual work performance of employee. The three independent variables are not related to each other. PT KAI’s employees, especially those in executive position, are more oriented towards extrinsic results than intrinsic ones. The implication for PT KAI is that to improve the individual work performance of its employees, the organization can focus on improving training, external motivation or both. It depends on the vision, long-term goals, and resources of PT KAI.

Abstract

The article described the difficulty to spot specific suppliers that feed the targeted customers in a closed-loop supply chain. When managers had difficulties in identifying the role of suppliers in a supply chain network, several possible situations might appear, such as redundant supply that led to both over and undersupply situations. The article also portrayed a course of an evaluative process underlies the network design decisions in a closed-loop electricity supply system. The case research, as presented in the article, was based on an archival data examination, literature review, structured interviews, and observations on the field operations of the electricity distribution system in Indonesia’s main islands. The research findings revealed that the distribution network within the closed-loop supply chain system was suggested to implement two stages decisions; started with local optimization analysis and followed by unified solution among all local optimal solutions. Such an approach arguably would reduce redundant supply as well as minimizing both over and undersupply in the system. For practical implications the article demonstrated the possibility of drawing the false conclusion when transmission costs were ignored in the supply chain-design decision analysis, as exhibited in the Indonesia electricity supply network. Abstract

Intuitively, a person’s behavioral tendency to corrupt seems to follow several incentives that bound with the outcomes. But changes in outcomes’ payoffs do not always directly affect to person behavior. In games with mixed equilibrium presences, probability of actions taken by other parties (in this paper, “to inspect” and “do not inspect”) will alter a person tendency whether “to comply” or “to cheat”, as shown in garment smuggling case in Indonesia. Game theoretic concepts were employed in this paper to perform framework for analysis in describing the actions of interdependent agents. When the game has mixed equilibrium, probability of one player to take one strategic action does not depend on the opponent’s payoffs (i.e. maximum penalty). What does change is the probability of the opponent’s strategic actions.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically prove the relationship between person-organization (P-O-Fit) on employee performance with job satisfaction and organizational commitment as mediating variables. The research sample was carried out by purposive sampling with 354 respondents, consisting of several regional officials, the Madiun City Government. Testing the research hypothesis used the Baron and Kenny method, with a series of multiple linear regression models. The results uncovered that (1) there was an influence of P-O Fit on job satisfaction of 8.1%. (2) There was an effect of P-O Fit on organizational commitment of 11.7%. (3) There was an influence of job satisfaction on employee performance of 13.2%. (4) There was an effect of organizational commitment on employee performance of 10.6%. However, (5) there was no effect of P-O Fit on employee performance. In addition, (6) there was a mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between P-O Fit and employee performance. (7) There was also a mediating effect of organizational commitment on the relationship between P-O Fit and employee performance.

Abstract

Research Aims: This research aimed to analyse the efficiency measurement on the effectiveness of train and wagon maintenance in three Decision Making Units (DMU) of Balai Yasa of Indonesian Railways Company (KAI). It focused on both output and input orientations and the effectiveness of production. Design: The research methodology was descriptive and quantitative, employing data envelopment analysis (DEA) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The input variables were maintenance costs, spare parts inventory and people operating hours, while the output variable was OEE. A stepwise approach with backward method steps was used to examine the relationship between effectiveness and efficiency. Findings: The results showed that DMU 2 was efficient, while DMUs 1 and 3 were not yet efficient. This indicated that the more effective an organisation is, the more efficient it is. DMU 2 has the highest effectiveness value at 86.19%, while DMUs 1 and 3 had values of less than 85%, indicating the need for improvement in their production departments. Theoretical Contribution: A stepwise approach uses a forward method, adding revenue variables that have not been implemented in previous studies. Managerial Implications in the Southeast Asian Context: Efficacy and revenue have a significant impact on organisational efficiency, which means that if the revenue is high and the organisation is effective, organisational efficiency will be high. Research Limitation and Implications: This research is limited to DMUs, and its focus is on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the train and wagon maintenance program in Java. The scope can be expanded to Sumatra and/or a comparison with other Southeast Asian countries by considering the characteristic differences of their operations and economies.

Abstract

The research aimed to integrate how trusting behavior was formed by an interaction between individual personality traits and situational context. Trust game protocol and a series of personality trait questionnaires were utilized to generate the data. A moderated regression with categorical variables was established to test the hypothesis of whether a player’s role or situational strength moderated the relationship between players’ trait and their corresponding trusting behavior. Regression results showed that situational strength moderated the U-shaped relationship between openness to experience and trusting behavior, such that the U-shaped relationship was more pronounced in weak situations. The research tested the hypotheses in the trust game setting to isolate the moderating role of weak and strong situations. In future research, it is necessary to present both weak and strong situations in a real organizational setting. The research offers insight into how individuals, from lower to higher openness to experience developed the trusting behavior to explore information to enhance their knowledge of an economic decision-making situation. The U-shaped relationship implies the course of the knowledge enhancement; first, by exploring the internal belief (thus it makes lower trust) to understand the situation, and second, by putting more trust in others to reduce the need for instantaneous compensation because of an enhanced expectation that commitment would be honored in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impacts of Quality of World Life (QWL), Work Motivation (WM) on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) mediated by Job Satisfaction (JS). Here, information and data are obtained from 171 responses from PT. Regar sport Industri Indonesia employees collected using online questionnaires. The data were analyzed via factor analysis with SPSS supports. From the analysis, the results describe that there is a direct effect of QWL and WM on OCB. Furthermore, there is an indirect influence of QWL and WM on OCB mediated by JS. Interestingly, the mediation variable is incapable to directly affect the OCB.  Therefore, this study demonstrates the importance of QWL and motivation so that Job Satisfaction is fulfilled and finally the formation of OCB employees is established.
