Abstract

Background: Cancer can cause sufferers to lose hope. Interventions to increase hope in cancer patients require interaction and system support so that they can provide enthusiasm and acceptance of the disease. Purpose: This review aims to identify interventions that can raise expectations in adult cancer patients. Method: Review this uses the method scoping reviews according to Arskey and O'Malley, namely: (1) Identification of research questions, (2) identifying relevant research, (3) study selection, (4) mapping data, (5) compiling, summarizing and reporting results. The search was carried out at PubMed, CINAHL, Psyc Info. Inclusion Criteria: English language articles, published in the last 10 years, do not limit the place or location. Exclusion Criteria: Articles discussing pediatric patients with cancer, adolescent patients with cancer, qualitative research methods. Search strategy using keywords with Medical Subject Heading / MeSH: cancer, oncology, hope, psychotherapy or counseling, intervention or effectiveness. Result: There are five articles reviewed in this scoping review. The research was conducted: China (n = 1), Canada (n = 1), Iran (n = 3). Interventions that can increase hope in adult cancer patients: Workshop, interventions group logo therapy, interventions supportive- expressive discussion groups, we chat-based life review programs (WBLRP), interventions spiritual group therapy. Cancer is being able to think in a positive direction, being grateful, being motivated, having self-confidence and increasing Hope. An intervention that is easy to apply is the Workshop Intervention, because participants are only asked to draw and paste from easily available materials such as used paper, used cloth and after being arranged into a shape, participants are asked to tell about the results that have been made. Conclusion: Hope is an important aspect in the patient's disease trajectory, especially in relation to the healing process. This study will enable nurses to gain an in-depth understanding of interventions to increase expectations so as to maintain and increase patient expectations.

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure occurs due to a decrease in kidney function, causing an imbalance in the body's metabolism, fluids and electrolytes which can result in uremia. Patients with chronic renal failure must undergo routine hemodialysis therapy. Hemodialysis therapy can cause nursing problems, namely fatigue. Fatigue can be caused by a lack of hemoglobin levels in patients or the length of the hemodialysis process. The research method used in this research is a case report by evaluating the implementation of a combination intervention of foot massage and murottal therapy Surat Ar Rahman. The instrument for measuring fatigue levels uses the FACIT-fatigue scale questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the patient experienced high fatigue with a score of 10.5 and after being given a combination of relaxation intervention of foot massage and murottal Al-Quran therapy, the patient's fatigue level score became 18.2 or moderate fatigue. From these results, it can be concluded that there is an effect of providing a combination of relaxing foot massage and murottal therapy on reducing the level of fatigue in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Background: M-Health is the use of mobile digital technology to support health and well-being by extending education, communication, health interventions, and research beyond the reach of traditional clinical care. Research has developed and tested M-Health, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing the self-efficacy of cancer patients. However, there has been no synthesis on the effectiveness of M-Health in enhancing self-efficacy in patients with chronic kidney disease. Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to determine the effectiveness of M-Health on self-efficacy, self-management, and self-care in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods: The study method is a systematic review and meta-analysis reported according to PRISMA guidelines. We conducted this systematic review across six databases. We included randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, and cohort studies evaluating self-efficacy, self-management, and self-care in patients with chronic kidney disease. We performed the critical appraisal using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist. Review Manager version 4.5 synthesized the data. Results: In this study, a database search was conducted to obtain 1,115 articles. Then, 46 duplicates were identified, and 1,109 articles were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria, leaving 6 articles for review. After reviewing the six articles, M-Health was found to be effective for self-efficacy and self-management, but not for self-care, due to the study's short duration. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that M-Health intervention can improve self-efficacy and self-management in patients with chronic kidney disease. However, the effectiveness of self-care results is reduced due to the relatively short observation time. Therefore, it is essential to take into account the duration of the intervention to achieve more optimal outcomes.

Abstract

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a cardiovascular disease that frequently causes shortness of breath (dyspnea) and negatively impacts patients’ quality of life. The management of dyspnea involves not only pharmacological approaches but also nonpharmacological interventions, one of which is handheld fan therapy, which works by stimulating sensory receptors in the facial area. This study aims to describe the effect of handheld fan therapy on reducing shortness of breath in patients with CHF. This study employed a descriptive design using a case report method on a single 63-year-old female patient diagnosed with CHF. The intervention was conducted over four days, involving the use of a handheld fan for 10 minutes, held at a distance of 15–30 cm from the face and directed toward the nose and mouth. Measurements were taken before and after the intervention using respiratory rate and oxygen saturation as parameters. The results showed a gradual decrease in respiratory rate from 24 breaths/minute to 18 breaths/minute, as well as an increase in oxygen saturation from 91% to 96% during the intervention period. These findings indicate an improvement in breathing patterns and increased respiratory efficiency in the patient. Handheld fan therapy is effective as a nonpharmacological intervention for reducing shortness of breath and improving oxygenation in patients with CHF. This intervention is safe, easy to use, and can be implemented as a complementary therapy in nursing practice.

Abstract

Clinical scoring systems are widely used to support early risk stratification and clinical decision-making in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, the characteristics, development processes, and clinical applications of these scoring systems remain dispersed across the literature. This scoping review aims to map and synthesize the available evidence on scoring systems used to assess or predict ACS events in hospital settings. A scoping review methodology was conducted using electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Emerald. The search terms included “acute coronary syndrome,” “scoring system,” OR “score predictor,” and “in hospital.” Of 1,961 identified records, 18 studies met the inclusion criteria after screening. Data were extracted using a charting approach to summarize study characteristics, scoring system variables, and reported outcomes. The review identified eleven ACS scoring systems, including widely used models such as GRACE, TIMI, and HEART. These scoring tools primarily incorporate clinical indicators such as age, systolic blood pressure, electrocardiogram findings, cardiac biomarkers, and cardiovascular risk factors. The results indicate that ACS scoring systems can be broadly categorized according to their clinical objectives, including diagnostic risk assessment, prognostic prediction, and early risk stratification in emergency settings. This review highlights the variability of predictive models across different clinical contexts and emphasizes the importance of selecting practical scoring systems that rely on readily available clinical indicators. The findings provide a comprehensive overview of existing ACS scoring systems and offer a conceptual framework that may help clinicians select appropriate risk assessment tools and guide future research on the development of simplified prediction models.  Keywords: Acute Coronary Syndrome, Risk Score, Clinical Prediction Model, Risk Stratification
