Abstract

Mastering collocation is a crucial aspect of second language acquisition at the B2 level, particularly in Japanese. Understanding collocation allows learners to comprehend common word combinations used in everyday conversation. This study aims to explore the understanding of collocation among Japanese language learners and to identify errors in their sentence construction. Using a mixed-method approach, the research includes collocation knowledge tests, questionnaires, and interviews to collect data from Japanese language learners in Indonesia. The findings indicate that many learners struggle with proper collocation usage, largely due to the influence of their native language and a limited understanding of suitable word combinations in Japanese. However, with effective teaching methods and consistent practice, learners can improve their grasp of collocation, which will lead to more effective and natural communication in Japanese. This study concludes that a strong command of collocation significantly enhances Japanese language proficiency, particularly in terms of fluency and contextual understanding. The research intends to contribute to the development of collaborative learning strategies in Japanese, especially for non-native speakers, to facilitate daily communication in the language.

Abstract

Cikakak Tourism Village is one of the Advanced Stage Tourism Villages in Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, which is a form of achievement in the realm of tourism. The combination of natural, cultural, and religious potentials in Cikakak village has the potential to be developed as a rural tourism area. To entertain and accompany tourists visiting Cikakak village, a Tour Guide is able to tell the details of tourist attractions and ensure tourists obtain educational value. Based on the results of observations in the field, it is known that the Saka Tunggal Tourism Awareness Group has not been able to be creative in assembling and creating information on village potential that is told narratively (storytelling) to be able to attract foreign tourists, especially Chinese tourists. From the results of the Mandarin for storytelling training, it can be concluded that from the aspect of knowledge, the trainees have a good understanding of how to use storytelling as a promotional medium for Cikakak's Tourism Village. However, from the aspect of skills in producing website content and video storytelling, further assistance is still needed to be able to produce Mandarin for Storytelling content that is more interactive and raises the values and attractions possessed by Ciadik Village as a cultural tourism destination.

Abstract

The necessity of problem-solving skills has become a core competency that university students must possess, particularly through the appropriate and accurate use of the Indonesian language. This study aims to construct a theoretical framework of problem-solving abilities by analyzing the composition of opinion texts in Indonesian language learning. The research employs Polya’s theoretical approach, integrated with recent studies, and utilizes a quantitative methodology through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). This method is used to examine the validity of the theoretical construction of problem-solving skills within the context of writing opinion texts in Indonesian language learning. The problem-solving theory derived from opinion-based learning was developed to produce a valid measurement instrument. The study began with the development of indicators drawn from various studies on problem-solving competencies. The resulting instrument consists of 19 items administered to students from both science and social studies tracks. A total of 298 first-semester students from Central Java participated in this study. The test reliability estimation yields a standardized alpha of 0.71. The findings include: (1) the adequacy of the sample was confirmed with a KMO-MSA value > 0.5, specifically 0.71, and a significance level of 0.001 on the Bartlett’s test; (2) all items were found to measure problem-solving skills, indicated by anti-image correlation values > 0.5; and (3) the study identified four dimensions of problem-solving skills based on opinion text analysis: initial problem identification, problem resolution, taking tangible action, and evaluation of implemented solutions solution reflection.
