Abstract

Purpose: This study examines how digital banking has affected Bangladesh's banking industry by emphasizing its ramifications, difficulties, and revolutionary influences. Research Methodology: With 200 participants and secondary sources, this study employs a mixed-methods approach and concludes that digital banking improves financial inclusion, convenience, and security.  However, obstacles to complete adoption include societal problems, legislative restrictions, and inadequate infrastructure.  While inequalities in digital literacy and geographic access continue to be major concerns, security, accessibility, and time efficiency are also important contributing variables. Results: Although the results highlight the potential of digital banking to modernize the banking sector and promote economic growth, their wider application is limited by factors, including their geographical concentration and dependence on self-reported data. Conclusions: Bangladesh has enormous potential for equitable growth and financial innovation compared with digital banking. Nevertheless, for widespread adoption, infrastructure deficiencies, digital illiteracy, and security issues must be addressed. Limitations: This study's limitations include its dependence on self-reported data, regional focus, and inadequate technology infrastructure that affects the uptake of digital banking. Contribution:  This study advances our knowledge of how digital banking is changing conventional banking institutions and provides practical advice to industry executives and legislators on how to remove obstacles and create a more robust and inclusive financial system. Novelty: This study emphasizes financial inclusion, technological obstacles, and specific recommendations for sustainable growth and innovation, highlighting the revolutionary influence of digital banking on Bangladesh's banking industry.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the challenges, Benefits, and various determinants which play an important role in adopting social media among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh, based on the (Technology-Organization-Environment) TOE Model. The TOE framework seeks to understand the significant factors influencing the decision to adopt social media in SMEs in Bangladesh. Research methodology: In the study, a random sampling method was used to select a representative sample from the existing active SMEs in different regions of Bangladesh. A structured questionnaire was designed to measure constructs such as relative advantage. Preliminary data were collected from 365 small and medium enterprises through field studies. Then the survey data were analyzed using logistic regression (L.R.) of the independent variables included in the TOE framework Results: The outcomes of the study found that only 5 variables: relative advantage, complexity, consistency, top management's assistance, and innovative management factors significantly influence SMEs' decisions to adopt social media. Limitations: The busy schedules of the respondents are key limitations for the study along with the study area. If the study could explore more districts besides Dhaka city, then the study outcomes would be more extensive. Contribution: The results from this study will help SME foundations, research institutes, and government policymakers to formulate strategies for optimal use of social media in SMEs.

Abstract

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to determine what needs to be managed and what obstacles make this World Heritage Site more attractive to tourists through sustainable development. Research Methodology:  The study was mainly quantitative in nature. To acquire primary data, the upazilas of Koira and Dumuria in the Khulna district, as well as Shyamnagar, Debhata, and Tala in the Satkhira district, were conveniently sampled because a sizable portion of Sundarbans are located there. A total of 365 individuals from five preselected locations completed a standardized questionnaire to provide information, and respondents were selected using a simple random sampling procedure. Statistics, such as frequency and percentage, and the logistic regression (LR) model were used to examine the data. Results: Among the independent variables included in the NES framework, only eight variables—advantages of natural diversity, natural complications, compatibility, multi-culture opportunity, diversity of life, job opportunity, GDP contribution, and income opportunity—significantly influenced the sustainable development of tourism in the Sundarbans area. Limitations: This research is based on the selected sample about the sustainability, protection, and promotion of Sundarbans, but most of the respondents had limited ideas about these key issues. Contributions: If a sustainable communication system and a standard resort or hotel-motel are built, domestic and foreign tourists will be interested. Additionally, specific policies and adequate security arrangements should be implemented. Above all, the concerned ministries of the government should come forward to create awareness among the people living in the Sundarban area to protect the natural diversity of the region.

Abstract

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to determine the scenario of e-waste management from a global and Bangladeshi perspective and navigate potential business prospects in the procedure of e-waste management minimizing health hazards. Research Methodology: The research was conducted by collecting data from reports and research papers from different international and national sources, interviews with 500 residents of Dhaka City, and five no. of recycling companies in Bangladesh. Upon descriptive analysis of the scenarios of global and Bangladeshi e-waste management, we tried to establish a relationship between proper e-waste management and business prospects. Results: The study found that home appliances and cell phones form the majority of e-waste. Informal recycling practices are responsible for high environmental and health risks. Moving towards a structured, formal recycling process can bring significant economic benefits in the form of employment opportunities and recovery of resources from e-waste. Conclusions: Effective e-waste management, supported by advanced technology and strong policy enforcement, is essential for protecting health and the environment while generating economic and employment opportunities. Limitations: The sample for the interview was taken from Dhaka City only. A larger population could make the study richer. Contribution: The study suggests setting up advanced recycling facilities and transforming entire e-waste management practices through internationally and cooperatively adopted sustainable measures. It emphasizes developing proactive policies and enhancing public awareness of proper e-waste management with a view to effectively facing the challenges and grabbing the business opportunities available from the e-waste management process. Novelty: This research has tried to bring out economic benefits and business opportunities from the process of e-waste management. It highlights that structured and sustainable e-waste management fosters economic growth, mitigates health hazards, and saves the environment.
