Abstract

This research is Research and Development (R&D) model used in the ADDIE model which was done on March until July 2019. The purpose of the study was to develop encyclopedia of macrozoobenthic invertebrates to improve student’s learning outcome. The research was conducted at a High School in Bogor, for the tenth grade students of MIPA 1 as the experimental class with the total number of 37 students and used one group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used in this study consist of expert validation sheets, multiple choice questions and questionnaire sheets to collect student responses about encyclopedia of learning module. Validation data shows that the feasibility test on the content of the material, language and presentations obtain values above 81% included the validity and appropriateness category for learning. The result of the questionnaire shows that a positive response was obtained with values above 82%. The average result obtained at pretest was 43,23 while the average result obtained at posttest was 79,90. The result of the N-Gain analysis shows a medium criterion of 0,6. In conclusion, the encyclopedia of macrozoobenthic invertebrates can improve student learning outcome.

Abstract

Background: Writing is a fundamental skill in elementary education, essential for developing students’ cognitive abilities and communication. However, many Indonesian fifth-grade students struggle with explanatory text writing due to limited vocabulary, low motivation, and ineffective teaching models.Aims: This study aims to improve the explanatory text writing skills of grade V students at SDN Lawanggintung 2 through the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model.Methods: The research employed Classroom Action Research in two cycles with 29 fifth-grade students. Each cycle included planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through writing tests, classroom observations, and documentation, and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The success criterion was set at 75% of students meeting the criteria for achieving learning objectives in Cycle I and 85% in Cycle II.Result: In Cycle I, only 58.6% of students met the criteria for achieving learning objectives, with issues in text structure, vocabulary, and mechanics. After refining the RADEC implementation in Cycle II, 93.1% of students achieved the criteria for achieving learning objectives. Students demonstrated improved organization, richer vocabulary, and better grammatical accuracy.Conclusion: The RADEC model effectively improved students’ explanatory text writing skills by fostering active participation, structured discussion, and collaborative learning. This approach is recommended for Indonesian elementary language classes to address writing skill deficiencies and support 21st-century learning competencies.

Abstract

Background: The lack of interesting and interactive teaching materials in IPAS learning in elementary schools leads to low motivation and learning outcomes of students. Teaching materials that are still dominated by textbooks have not been able to accommodate diverse learning styles.Aims: This study aims to develop interactive teaching materials supported by the Book Creator application to enhance the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students on the topic of the human respiratory systemMethods: This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method utilizing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. Data were collected through validation questionnaires, student response surveys, learning outcome tests, and interviews.Result: The developed teaching materials received a “Very Good” category from media, material, and language expert validators. Students' learning outcomes increased from 53.3% (pre-test) to 90% (post-test) after using teaching materials.Conclusion: Teaching materials assisted by Book Creator are feasible, practical, and effective in increasing students' understanding and learning motivation on the material of the human respiratory system.

Abstract

ENThis research was a quasi-experimental experiment. This study aimed to determine the differences in Problem-Solving Abilities (KPM) using Discovery and Conventional learning models. The study was conducted in March-October 2018. The population in this study was class X in one of the private high schools in Bogor Regency for the 2017/2018 academic year. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling techniques. The sample for the experimental class was class X MIPA B, treated using the Discovery Learning learning model with 40 students. Class X MIPA A was treated using a conventional learning model with 40 students with instruments to solve problems (KPM). The results of the t-test show differences in problem-solving abilities between students who learn to use the Discovery Learning model and Conventional learning models. Discovery Learning class groups are higher than Conventional class groups; this can be seen from the average N-Gain score of problem-solving abilities in the Discovery Learning class of 50 and Conventional class groups of 42. Therefore, the Discovery Learning learning model is used in biodiversity material to improve students' biological problem-solving abilities. IDPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian Kuasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Kemampuan Memecahkan Masalah (KPM) menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret- Oktober 2018. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X di salah satu SMA Swasta di Kabupaten Bogor tahun akademik 2017/2018. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Sampel untuk kelas eksperimen adalah kelas X MIPA B diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dengan jumlah 40 siswa dan kelas X MIPA A diberi perlakuan menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional dengan jumlah 40 siswa dengan instrumen kemampuan memecahkan masalah(KPM). Berdasarkan hasil uji t menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dan pembelajaran Konvensional. kelompok kelas Discovery Learning lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kelas Konvensional, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari skor rata-rata N-Gain kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kelompok kelas Discovery Learning sebesar 48,40 dan kelompok kelas Konvensional sebesar 41.95. Oleh karena itu, model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dapat digunakan pada materi keanekaragaman hayati dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah biologi siswa.
