Abstract

This study aims to conduct an astronomical analysis of the viral video of the Sunrise from the north on Thursday, June 17, 2021, in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The video shows a man testifying to the Sun's position in the north and associating this phenomenon as one of the signs of the Day of Judgment. It attracts much attention to become a trending topic, both of social, national, and international media. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach using library research methods and content analysis of location, calculations, and images. Primary data was obtained through the interview, while secondary data came from related articles and books. Data collection techniques used documentations and relevant data or theories to the research question. Furthermore, the collected data were analyzed inductively and comparatively. Location analysis was carried out using the Google Maps application, and it was found that the coordinates of MAN Binamu Jeneponto were at 5.67o South (S) and 119.73 East (E). Through calculation analysis, it is known that day the Sun rose in Jeneponto at 06.08 WITA with an azimuth of 66° 35' 23". The comparative analysis between the video displays and google maps was then applied and found that the north direction shown in the video was not the actual one. The confirmation process concluded that the Sun did not rise from the north but the east (towards the northeast). The misunderstanding of Qiblah leading the west causes the observer's misidentification of the Sun's position.

Abstract

The inclusion of prayer time is one of the valid requirements of prayer as explained in the Qur'an and hadiths of the Prophet (s). The Fajr prayer schedule issued by Wahdah Islamiyah is interesting to review because it is different from the official prayer schedule issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Republic of Indonesia. This difference can have implications for the validity or absence of Fajr prayers and fasting performed by Muslims based on the schedule. This study aimed to analyze the method of determining the Fajr prayer schedule issued by Wahdah Islamiyah. This research is qualitative descriptive research through library study methods and content analysis. The results showed that Wahdah Islamiyah compiled its Fajr prayer schedule with a high-accuracy contemporary accounting method using VSOP87 algorithm. The location of markaz da'wah in Makassar City was chosen as the coordinate point of the calculation of the position of the sun. Wahdah Islamiyah's Fajr prayer schedule uses a sun altitude of 18 degrees below the horizon by adding a two-minute of iḥtiyāṭ. Based on the calculation, the Fajr prayer schedule of Wahdah Islamiyah has been accurately used in the Makassar City area

Abstract

Kajian ini membahas tentang kegiatan Upskilling guru matematika di Kuttab Nurul Wahyain dalam upaya peningkatan keterampilan mengajar operasi perkalian. Dalam era digital yang terus berkembang, guru perlu terus meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran mereka. Operasi perkalian merupakan konsep matematika yang penting untuk mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi tantangan matematika yang lebih kompleks di masa depan. Kegiatan Upskilling yang inovatif telah diterapkan untuk memperkuat kemampuan guru matematika dalam mengajar operasi perkalian. 31 guru yang bukan dari latar belakang pendidikan matematika dilibatkan dalam program pelatihan yang meliputi metode pengajaran inovatif, diskusi kolaboratif, dan praktik. Melalui Upskilling ini, para guru dapat mengembangkan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang operasi perkalian dan keterampilan dalam merancang aktivitas pembelajaran yang efektif khususnya dalam menggunakan jarimatika. Dampaknya signifikan, dengan guru yang lebih percaya diri, mampu mengatasi kesulitan siswa, dan mampu mengajarkan operasi perkalian dengan jarimatika. Upaya ini merupakan langkah penting untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan yang lebih tinggi dan mempersiapkan siswa untuk sukses di dunia yang semakin kompleks. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan Upskilling guru matematika menjadi faktor kunci dalam meningkatkan keterampilan mengajar operasi perkalian dan memberikan pendidikan matematika yang berkualitas tinggi kepada siswa.

Abstract

The solar eclipse will take place if the moon is between the Earth and sun as well as its shadow touches the Earth. Some hadiths narrated that the phenomena had occurred in the era of Prophet saw. then He commanded Muslims to perform prayer, remembrance, and donation. Hence, the solar eclipse in Islam is crucial as it is respected to worship to God. The objective of this paper is to calculate the solar eclipse using Meeus Algorithm. After preparing the Bessel elements and arranging the Meeus Algorithm, it can be determined accurately both the eclipse type, time, place, path width of the eclipse and the sun position as it lasts. Sun eclipse calculation using Meeus algorithm on June, 21th 2020 results 1.380 N and 18.060 E for the coordinate, 0.28 for altitude, azimuth of 66.56, 84.9 km width, as well as total duration of 1 minutes 22.3 and seconds. Those all are accurate due to the similarity with NASA calculation using ELP and VSOP87 algorithm.
