Abstract

Laboratory Building FT Unmul is a building located in humid tropical climate. With humans carrying out various activities, thermal comfort needs to be measured to find out how the building represents a good tropical building. This research was carried out using the Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) model which collaborates on personal variables and spatial variables. Measurements were carried out in several rooms inside the Laboratory Building, using thermal comfort software. The results of this study indicate that without air-conditioning, rooms that are directly exposed to sunlight do not provide thermal comfort while other rooms are able to achieve that. Meanwhile, with artificial ventilation intervention, most of the space does not increase the thermal comfort for the user. These results can be taken into consideration in the design (space configuration) and building management (room management and building energy consumption).

Abstract

Abstract

Time Cost Trade Off Analysis (TCTO).

Abstract

This study explores the planning of a waterfront area along the Mahakam River, focusing on the Sungai Kunjang Dock in Samarinda City. The Mahakam River plays a vital role as a transportation route and economic artery for the surrounding community. However, the infrastructure of the river port—particularly the dock—remains suboptimal in terms of functionality, aesthetics, and public comfort. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, supported by field observation, literature review, documentation, and SWOT analysis. The findings reveal that the port area holds significant potential to be developed as a multifunctional public space through a waterfront development approach. The proposed design applies principles of ecological and social integration by incorporating green open spaces, indoor gardens, children’s playgrounds, exhibition spaces, and supporting facilities. The design concept, named “SENARA,” emphasizes the harmonious relationship between humans and the river as a core urban identity. This redevelopment is expected to enhance the environmental quality of the waterfront while strengthening the port’s social, economic, and tourism functions in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Developing a waterfront area requires careful planning, considering local potential, site characteristics, and community needs. This study aims to redesign Taman Tepian Slamet Riyadi in Samarinda into a tourism destination based on water recreation while promoting local cultural identity. The core concept includes the development of a boat dock for rowing boat activities, green open spaces, playgrounds, an amphitheater, a venue, and a riverside restaurant. A key feature of the site is the Jukung Barunai monument, which symbolizes the cultural heritage of river life. The Jukut restaurant offers local cuisine in a natural riverside setting. Planning methods involved on-site observation, SWOT analysis, and spatial zoning approaches. The result is an integrated design that balances aesthetics, environmental sustainability, and social interaction. In addition to supporting tourism activities, this project is expected to open new economic opportunities and raise public awareness of the importance of preserving the Mahakam River ecosystem.

Abstract

The problem of slum settlements is one of the issues in the coastal areas of densely populated residential areas in Bontang City. The preparation of a masterplan for the coastal area of North Bontang District is very important to prevent the expansion of slum areas in this district. This community service activity was carried out to assist policy makers in the preparation of the master plan. The PkM team provided assistance in the preparation of this master plan by providing insights and knowledge according to the competencies of the team members. Stakeholder involvement was very significant in this activity. The results of this mentoring activity were a very high level of participation and produced a master plan report that strongly supports the Bontang City Government program.
