Abstract

This study examines the prevalence of money politics in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in Jayapura Regency, considering its impact on social legitimacy and the electoral behavior of local communities. The research aims to analyze public acceptance and preferences regarding different forms of money politics and the extent to which it influences voting decisions. Three key factors are observed: acceptance, its influence on voting behavior, and the most preferred form of monetary incentives. This study employs a quantitative methodology using a survey. Data collection was conducted through stratified multistage random sampling, involving 440 respondents. The findings reveal several important insights. First, the acceptance of money politics is notably high. Second, financial assistance is the most preferred form of incentive. Lastly, monetary incentives do not operate independently in shaping electoral choices; rather, they function within a broader patron-client framework.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine Hasan al-Banna's Islamic political thought, especially regarding the integration of religion and politics in the Islamic government system and its relevance in the development of modern Islamic law. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, referring to Hasan al-Banna's primary works and secondary references from contemporary researchers. The results of the study show that the core of al-Banna's thought is rooted in the principle of monotheism as a source of sovereignty, shura as a mechanism for political participation, justice as the goal of government, and religious-political integration as the main foundation. This thought is relevant in responding to the renewal of Islamic law in Muslim countries, including Indonesia. Despite facing challenges such as secularism and legal pluralism, the opportunity for the actualization of al-Banna's thought remains open through strengthening the political awareness of the people, Islamic political education, and the development of contextual and adaptive contemporary ijtihad.

Abstract

Vote buying or buying and selling of votes is one of the phenomena of election violations that is increasingly characterizing electoral democracy in Indonesia. Even though this practice which harms the democratic system is widely opposed, it does not necessarily mean that vote buying disappears from general election polemics in this country. This research, which uses survey method, will reveal the results of vote mobilization through the practice of vote buying in society and whether religious moral values have a significant role in influencing the results of voter decisions, especially in Regional Elections (Pilkada) in Bone Regency. Bolango. The quantitative data for this research were obtained from the results of a survey with a number of respondents who were interviewed using a list of questionnaires that had been compiled systematically, the results of which were then combined using a qualitative approach using James Scott's patron-client theory. The results of this research show that the majority of Bone Bolango residents understand the illegal practice of vote buying, but this does not necessarily mean that this practice is rejected in general elections in the area. Regional socio-economic conditions also seem to play an important role in people's decisions in accepting or rejecting existing money politics practices. However, the religious values inherent in individuals are in fact unable to influence society to reject the invitation to vote buying. Keywords: vote buying, electoral democracy, regional elections
