Abstract

Bilingualism is an increasingly common phenomenon in Indonesia due to globalization and technological development, which accelerates cross-language interaction and affects the structure of Indonesian in various aspects. One of the impacts is the increasing use of foreign words, especially English, which can enrich vocabulary but also risk replacing Indonesian equivalents. This study aims to analyze the impact of bilingualism on the development of the Indonesian language, both in terms of vocabulary, syntax, and morphology, and identify strategies that can be used to maintain a balance between the acceptance of foreign elements and the preservation of the Indonesian language. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results show that bilingualism contributes to the linguistic development of society, but also causes interference that affects the structure of Indonesian. In the academic realm, bilingualism without a clear strategy can hinder understanding of the material. In digital communication, the phenomenon of code-switching and code-mixing is increasingly prevalent, especially among Generation Z, which shows the integration of bilingualism in their linguistic identity. Therefore, linguistic policies are needed that support a balance between the acceptance of foreign elements and the preservation of the Indonesian language so that bilingualism remains an enriching asset without threatening the sustainability of the national language.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological aspects of the main character in Pidi Baiq's novel Ancika using a descriptive qualitative approach. The analysis focuses on Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, which divides personality structure into three entities: id, ego, and superego. The research data consists of novel excerpts that show the psychological dynamics of Ancika, and are supported by literature related to psychological theory and the development of teaching materials. The results show that Ancika is a strong, idealistic, and independent figure, but also experiences inner conflict due to the interaction of the id, ego, and superego in facing daily problems, social relationships, and the search for identity. These findings indicate that Ancika's novel not only has cultural and social value but is also relevant as a literary teaching material to improve empathy, psychological understanding, and critical thinking skills of students. Thus, the integration of psychological analysis of characters in literary learning is expected to broaden students' horizons while supporting contextual and flexible educational programs. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji aspek psikologis tokoh utama dalam novel Ancika karya Pidi Baiq dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis difokuskan pada teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud yang membagi struktur kepribadian menjadi tiga entitas: id, ego, dan superego. Data penelitian berupa kutipan novel yang menunjukkan dinamika psikologis tokoh Ancika, serta diperkuat dengan literatur terkait teori psikologi dan pengembangan bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ancika merupakan sosok yang kuat, idealis, dan mandiri, namun juga mengalami konflik batin akibat interaksi id, ego, dan superego dalam menghadapi persoalan sehari-hari, hubungan sosial, dan pencarian jati diri. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa novel Ancika tidak hanya memiliki nilai budaya dan sosial, tetapi juga relevan sebagai bahan ajar sastra untuk meningkatkan empati, pemahaman psikologis, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Dengan demikian, integrasi analisis psikologis tokoh dalam pembelajaran sastra diharapkan mampu memperluas wawasan peserta didik sekaligus mendukung program pendidikan yang kontekstual dan fleksibel.
