Abstract

UKM Tani Lebak is an industry that processes coconut water into nata de coco. During production, water use could be more efficient. Apart from that, there are also rejected products and production waste that pollute the environment. So, based on this, it is necessary to measure and evaluate productivity and environmental performance. This research aims to determine the value of productivity and the green productivity index (GPI) and to propose alternative improvement solutions to increase productivity and reduce environmental impacts. The method used to solve this problem is green productivity, starting with calculating material balance during production, then creating green value stream mapping and calculating GPI. The calculation results show that the productivity value moved from 1.335 to 1.336. UKM Tani Lebak can use three alternative solutions to increase productivity while reducing environmental impacts. The best alternative is to combine the neutralization and washing processes, which produces a GPI from 0.6882 to 0.927. This value shows a better ratio of productivity to environmental impact.

Abstract

Industrial competition is intensifying, raising the importance of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices. This study focuses on LPG distributor Fajar Sidiq Nurhidayah, a company specializing in 3 kg LPG cylinders. The lack of safety inductions and adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) heightens the risk of workplace accidents, necessitating this research to mitigate such risks. Employing the Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) methods, potential hazards were identified. JSA revealed risks like collisions, being struck by the truck's back, tube pinching, and ergonomic hazards, foreseeing injuries ranging from bruises to fractures and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). HIRA uncovered six hazards: one low-risk, four medium-risk, and one high-risk. FTA pinpointed the primary danger source to be the warehouse station due to operator negligence during tube lifting, lack of PPE usage, and entangled tubes, emphasizing the worker's condition and work environment.

Abstract

Scheduling is essential in production systems as it manages resource allocation and ensures precise and timely operations. A timber firm produces wooden hammocks and pallets to meet the demand for wooden pallets in the domestic market using a flow shop type production flow and the First Come First Served (FCFS) method. In December 2022, there was excess capacity due to a decrease in demand. Conversely, the company experienced a shortage of capacity in January due to a significant increase in demand for pallets from several companies. This situation resulted in idle time when switching to the next task, indicating that production capability was not being utilized to its full potential. The aim of this research is to provide production scheduling proposals to minimize makespan by applying the Nawaz-Enscore-Ham (NEH) method and the Integer Linear Programming (ILP) method. The proposed production scheduling with a lower makespan has been successfully obtained in this study.

Abstract

A company operating in the sector of workshop production of nuts and bolts requires workers to maintain high levels of speed, precision, and consistency, as well as significant responsibility to deliver the best results for customers. However, while carrying out their tasks, workers may make mistakes due to work fatigue. Therefore, researchers conducted a study to determine the extent of mental and physical workload using the Bourdon Wiersma and Cardiovascular Load (CVL) methods. Bourdon Wiersma is an objective method of measuring workload to determine the level of mental burden in tasks requiring precision, speed, and high consistency, including monotonous tasks. Cardiovascular Load (CVL) involves comparing the increase in heart rate with the maximum heart rate and classifying workload based on the increase in working heart rate compared to the maximum heart rate, expressed as cardiovascular load (% CVL). The research results show that the Bourdon Wiersma percentage for the three job tasks was generally quite good before work and fell within the category of moderate or mild tiredness after work. Additionally, the largest average %CVL occurred in operators at 63%.

Abstract

Tofu is one food that has a lot of devotees, especially in Indonesia. Tahu Intan is a factory engaged in making tofu which is done traditionally and operates every day. During direct interviews with workers, workers complained of pain felt in the upper body so it needed further study. Awkward body postures can cause complaints which are often called Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Therefore, the body postures of workers at Tahu Intan will be analyzed. By using the NBM and RULA questionnaires as an assessment of work posture, it is expected to be able to assess and provide recommendations for improvements for the Year of the Diamond. The assessment of the four workers for NBM was found to be in the moderate category, with the highest level of complaints in the upper left arm, right wrist, left and right hands, and pain in both knees, calves, ankles foot. The working posture that needs attention and improvement is in the process of boiling and filtering soybean juice

Abstract

Kranggot Market is one of the markets in the city of Cilegon. This traditional market sells various essential goods and basic necessities, one of which is rice. The rice sold at Kranggot Market is supplied from various regions, transported by supplier trucks to rice shops in the market. The rice offloaded from the trucks is typically carried directly by the workers of these shops. The loads carried by the workers vary, ranging from 5 kg to 50 kg, which can pose physical hazards to their bodies, such as bending issues, fractures, spine injuries, and other risks. To address these issues, a physical workload measurement is conducted on rice-carrying workers using the NIOSH method. The study aims to calculate the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) and Lifting Index (LI), provide recommendations, and assess whether the lifting activities performed by the workers pose risks or are within safe limits. According to the calculation results, the RWL and LI values before the improvements were 10.21 and 4.90, respectively, at the origin position, and 12.67 and 3.95 at the destination position. After the suggested improvements were implemented, the RWL and LI values reached 46.32 and 1.08, respectively. It can be concluded that the recommended improvements using material handling can reduce the risk of injury to workers.

Abstract

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, most universities implemented distance learning to prevent the spread of the virus. After the pandemic, the learning process shifted to a hybrid method, combining both offline and online instruction. This hybrid system is applied to certain courses, featuring face-to-face classroom sessions alongside video conferencing for lectures. However, the hybrid learning approach has led to a decline in the student achievement index for some students, highlighting the need to evaluate their mental workload. Therefore, this study aimed to measure students’ mental workload during both online and offline exams using the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) method. The results showed a higher average mental workload score for offline exams compared to online exams. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the scores, indicating a notable disparity in mental workload between offline and online exams. In conclusion, the mental workload associated with hybrid learning—particularly during exams—is considered high.
