Abstract

The surge in digital learning technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), has reshaped education. This community service initiative at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia targets AI training to innovate physics education. The multifaceted approach encompasses preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages, employing methods like Focus Group Discussions, training sessions, and mentoring. AI plays a pivotal role in assisting students with assignments, analyzing physics problems, and creating presentation media for school tasks, utilizing applications such as Canva+ChatGPT and Google Slides+ChatGPT. Training outcomes at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur showcase participants' proficiency in AI-driven presentation media, achieving an impressive average score of 84.67. Among 27 participants, only one fell short of the 75-point passing criteria. To maximize AI's role in physics learning, ongoing implementation and support are crucial in subsequent activities.

Abstract

The practicum learning process transformed from offline to online during the pandemic. Teachers must have the skills to use virtual laboratory applications to improve the learning process. Community service activities have been carried out in the form of virtual laboratory training to improve the skills of junior-senior high school teachers based on the PhET Simulations application in the city of Semarang and surrounding areas. Evaluation of training activities using the self-assessment questionnaire method before and after the participants attended the training. The questionnaire comprises four aspects of ability: the ability to access the virtual practicum application, use the PhET application via a browser, download simulations on the PhET Simulations application, and use the PhET Simulation application as a means of physics practicum. Based on the analysis of the n-gain test, the results of increasing competence were 32% of participants included in the high category, 30% of participants included in the medium category, and 38% of participants included in the low category.

Abstract

Basic physics practicum learning through virtual laboratories is less than optimal in developing students' science process skills. This study reveals the results of improving students' science process skills based on the application of computer scaffolding assisted by PhET simulation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a sample of 14 students through purposive sampling technique. The research stages consist of introduction, implementation, and evaluation. Collecting data through interviews, tests, and observations. Data analysis using the N-gain test. The results showed an increase in students' science process skills on several indicators with various categories. The indicator is observing 0.49 (medium category), formulating hypotheses 0.34 (medium category), carrying out experiments 0.39 (medium category), data interpretation and analysis 0.42 (medium category), communicating 0.33 (medium category), and concluded 0.29 (low category). Computer-based scaffolding with PhET simulation is an online learning solution that can also be collaborated with offline learning to improve students' science process skills.
