Abstract

The development of manufacturing industry is more rapidly, as a proof is the effeciency and speed of machining process of product manufacture. A machining process covers cutting, forming, coating, heat treatment, and casting. The bending process is included in the forming process, especially for steel plate material. The bending process uses bending tools either manual or automatic process using the program. Selection of suitable plate material will produce the optimal product, which is product free of scratch, crack or defect.The cause of bending failure can occur because the bending process parameters (bending force, methods, thickness and plate type) are not appropriate. Bending methods include v blending, u blending, r blending and hemming. Research and testing are needed to discover, analyze, and prove failure in hemming process. The result is expected to be supporting data related to product design in Work Fabrication (WF) at PT ATMI Solo.

Abstract

The process of heating the furnace is heating the leaf spring material with an oven (induction heating furnace) at a temperature of 800-900°C for a certain time. The output from the induction heating furnace is further processed with yobimage (straightening which aims to keep the leaf spring material in the shape it demands after being processed by the tapper) on a straightening machine. The process from one unit to another requires tools to move materials automatically. The appropriate tool is a combination loader and conveyor because it has the ability to move with narrow spacing and is in accordance with the shape of the output and input of the machine. The purpose of this study was to obtain design drawings and analyze factors (construction strength, tool dimensions and machine component calculations) in loader and conveyor design. The research process uses the Verein Deutsche Ingenieure 2222 (VDI 2222) method, designs are made in the form of 3D and 2D images using the help of Solidwork software. The research carried out resulted in a loader and conveyor unit design that was serves to move the leaf spring material from the induction heating furnace machine to the straightening machine according to the company's wishes. It is hoped that the results of the design can be realized and developed according to the needs of the company.Keywords: Leaf spring, VDI 2222, loader and conveyor.

Abstract

Inserting bushing merupakan bagian dari assembling yang bertujuan untuk memasang bushing ke dalam mata pegas daun dengan cara ditekan menggunakan mesin pres hidrolik. Masalah yang terjadi saat proses inserting bushing adalah cara mengatur center bushing terhadap pegas daun yang dilakukan secara manual menyebabkan tidak efisien dari segi waktu. Rancangan baru mesin pres diperlukan untuk mengoptimalkan proses inserting bushing sesuai dengan permintaan industri. Proses perancangan mesin menggunakan metode VDI 2222 sebagai acuan dasar dalam penelitian. Rancangan baru mesin pres dibuat dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan bantuan software SolidWorks. Hasil penelitian berupa rancangan mesin pres dilengkapi dengan locator bushing dan supply bushing storage. Hasil perhitungan dan analisis konstruksi menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi kuat dan aman untuk digunakan.
