Abstract

Dormancy of sugar palm seed (Arenga pinnata) was caused of hard seed coat structure, making its difficult to absorb water during of germinating. Dormancy in seed can be resolved by giving of treatmeant physically, mechanically, or chemically. This research aimed to determine the effect of physical treatment and chemical treatment on the germination of sugar palm seeds and determine which affect gibberellin concentration most favorable to the germination of sugar palm seeds. In this research, dormancy in seed be resolved in chemically that way with soaking of water with temperature early 75 0 C let to be chilled during 15 minute, and then soaking in condensation of giberelin with concentration of giberellins is 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm, and 200 ppm for 24 hours.  The method used in this research is Complete Random Design (CRD) which consisting of five treatments and four replications. The results showed that the treatment accorded significant effect on germination percentage, germination, and the average days to germinate. Addition of soaking in a solution of 150 ppm giberellin for 24 hours gives the best effect with an average germination percentage by 65%, compared with addition of soaking in giberellin solution of 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm giberellins for 24 hours with an average germination percentage by 15%, 34,5%, 53,125%, and 26,875%.

Abstract

Madu lebah Heterotrigona itama banyak diminati oleh pembeli karena ciri khas rasa madu yang berasa manis agak asam. Budidaya lebah tersebut juga tergolong mudah, namun produksi madunya belum diketahui. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui produksi madu pada budidaya lebah Heterotrigona itama yang terdapat di Kebun Lebah Simpur, Desa Kecapi, Kecamatan Kalianda. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Oktober hingga Desember 2021. Penghimpunan data produksi madu dilakukan dengan pengukuran setiap bulan sekali selama tiga bulan pada lima kotak lebah. Selain data produksi madu, juga diamati dimensi kotak lebah, intensitas radiasi matahari, temperatur udara, dan kelembapan udara disekitar kotak lebah. Data ditabulasi serta analisis regresi dan korelasi pada taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa rata-rata produksi madu setiap bulan sebesar 275,6 ml/kotak. Berdasarkan analisis regresi sederhana bahwa ukuran kotak lebah tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi madu dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,027 dengan stup sarang lebah berukuran panjang 63,8 cm dan diameter 37,6 cm. Stup tempat madu berukuran panjang 42,2 cm, lebar 42,2 cm, dan tinggi 12 cm. Intensitas radiasi matahari berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi madu dengan persamaan regresi Y= 366,866 - 0,002 X dan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,967. Rata-rata intensitas radiasi matahari pada pagi hari sebesar 115.389,2 lux, rata-rata pada siang hari 48.780 lux dan rata-rata pada sore hari sebesar 11.361,8 lux. Dengan demikian, produksi madu lebah Heterotrigona itama akan lebih tinggi jika kotak lebah diletakkan pada tempat yang teduh. Temperatur udara dan kelembapan udara tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi madu dengan nilai korelasi masing-masing sebesar 0,365 dan 0,035. Rata-rata temperatur udara pada pagi hari sebesar 28,6oC, siang sebesar 31,9oC, dan sore sebesar 28,8o C. Rata-rata kelembapan udara pada pagi hari sebesar 76,1%, siang hari sebesar 66,4%, dan sore hari sebesar76,1%.

Abstract

The Wan Abdul Rachman Great Forest Park (Tahura) is one of the conservation forests in Lampung Province.  The plant collection block serves as a place for the collection of native and artificial plants.  The Collection Block has the potential as a place to grow members of the Zingiberaceae family.  Zingiberaceae is a flowering plant known as ginger plants.  This study aims to determine the population of plants belonging to the Zingiberaceae family in the Sumber Agung Plant Collection Block, Wan Abdul Rachman Great Forest Park.  The study was conducted in June-July 2021. The method used was the transect method with a sampling intensity of 0.1% or an area of 1,411.8 m2.  There are 4 transect, each measuring 5 m wide and 180 m long.  Sample plots measuring 5 m x 2 m were made continuous in all transect.  The results showed the population of plants belonging to the Zingiberaceae family in the Sumber Agung Plant Collection Block as many as 15 species, namely temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), laos (Alpinia galanga), fragrant lempuyang (Zingiber aromaticum), ginger (Zingiber officinale), bitter lempuyang /emprit (Zingiber amarican), tepus (Etlingera solaris), lempuyang elephant (Zingiber zerumbet), temu putih (Curcuma zedoaria), white galangal (Alpinia malaccensis), pacing (Costus spesiosus), temu giring (Curcuma heyneana), bangle (Zingiber purpureum), cardamom (Amomum compactum), honje/kecombrang (Etlingera elatior), and wresah (Amomum delbatum).  The dominant population of Zingiberaceae plants is Laos with an INP of 75.809 and a density of 666.6 individuals/ha. Keyword: population; Zingiberaceae; collection blocks; great forest park
