Abstract

Dementia is an acquired intellectual and memory dysfunction caused by brain disease, and is not associated with impaired levels of consciousness. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with dementia in the elderly at the Cakung District Health Center in 2020. This study is a quantitative study with a correlative descriptive research design with a cross sectional study approach. The population consisted of elderly patients who participated in prolanis activities at the Cakung District Health Center. Sampling using total sampling. The sample consisted of 60 respondents. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed a relationship between age (p = 0.000), physical activity (p = 0.000) and dementia. Physical activity needs to be done by the elderly to inhibit the factors that accelerate the onset of dementia. Counseling and learning about physical activity in the elderly should be a program in providing health services to the elderly, especially to prevent dementia. Keywords : Dementia, Physical Activity

Abstract

Along with the increasing of orthopedic disorders incidence, the provision of orthopedic nursing care in Indonesia is also increasing. The Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA) has published nursing care standards as a reference for nurses in providing nursing care and standardizing nursing care terminologies. Standard-based orthopedic nursing care instruments have been developed, but their effectiveness has not been investigated in improving the quality of nursing services and patient safety. This study aimed to identify the effect of the application of 3S-based Orthopedic Nursing Care (3S-ONC) on the quality of nursing services and patient safety. Descriptive quantitative analysis using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest and posttest with control group design, involving 106 respondents (53 control, 53 intervention), recruited by purposive sampling technique. In the intervention group, nurses provided nursing care by applying the 3S-based Orthopedic Nursing Care (3S-ONC) instrument. The study showed that in both groups, most of the nurses were in the early adult category, dominated by female sex and most of them had professional education level. There were significant differences in the quality of nursing services (p 0.046; α 0.05) and patient safety (p 0.000; α 0.05) between the intervention group and the control group after the application of the 3S-ONC instrument. The 3S-ONC instrument can improve the quality of nursing services and the safety of patients with orthopedic disorders in hospitals. The 3S-ONC instrument can be considered for the development of a paper-based or computer-based nursing care documentation system to further improve the quality of nursing services and patient safety in healthcare facilities, especially in hospital.

In the modern era, hospitals are required to enhance worker safety and patient safety culture to provide optimal healthcare services. One approach used is Lean Management, which aims to reduce waste and improve efficiency in healthcare service processes. However, the implementation of Lean Management in hospitals still faces various challenges, particularly regarding its impact on worker safety and patient safety culture. This study aims to analyze the effect of Lean Management on worker safety and patient safety culture at Bhayangkara Brimob Kelapadua Depok Hospital. This research employs a quantitative method with an analytical survey design and a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected from healthcare workers in the inpatient unit using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using linear regression to examine the relationships between variables. The results indicate that Lean Management has a positive and significant effect on worker safety (p = 0.000) and patient safety culture (p = 0.000). Additionally, worker safety acts as a mediator in the relationship between Lean Management and patient safety culture. These findings confirm that effective implementation of Lean Management can improve worker safety, which ultimately contributes to enhancing the patient safety culture. This study provides insights for hospital management on optimizing Lean Management implementation to create a safer work environment and improve healthcare service quality. It is recommended that hospitals strengthen training and safety policies to support more effective Lean Management implementation. Abstract

Patients fall down are one of the most common incident happens in the hospital environment, in which it can result in serious injury. Knowledge, attitudes, and caring behaviors are thought to influence the reduction of the risk of fall-related injuries. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of knowledge, attitudes, and caring behaviors on reducing the risk of fall-related injuries among nurses at Aulia Hospital, South Jakarta, by 2025. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 89 nurses selected using a total sampling technique. The data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using normality tests, univariate tests, bivariate tests, and multivariate tests. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge and a reduced risk of injury from falls (p=0.013), attitude and a reduced risk of injury from falls (p=0.006), and caring behavior and a reduced risk of injury from falls (p=0.000). The multivariate test showed that caring behavior was the most dominant association with a reduced risk of injury from falls. The conclusion of this study is that knowledge, attitude, and caring behavior are important factors influencing the reduction in the risk of injury from patients fall down. Based on this research, it is recommended that the hospital provide on-site training, preferably in-house at the hospital, for all nurses working at RS Aulia. The training should cover fall risk mitigation and nurses' care practices. The hospital should also establish a team tasked with monitoring and evaluating nurses' efforts in daily activities to prevent patient falls. The team should also develop a guide book containing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to patient fall prevention.
