Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop HOTS items in the English material, to determine the level of validity of the items, to determine the reliability of the items for class X in MA Madani Alauddin Pao-Pao. The type of this research is research and development (R&D). The development model used is this research is the Plomp modelwhich consists of five stages of development, namely Preliminary investigation, Design, Realization/Construction, Test, Evaluation and Revision (Test, Evaluation and Revision), and Implementation (Implementation). The subjects in this study are students at class X MIA 2 in MA Madani Alauddin Pao-Pao. The instruments used in data collectionare validation sheets and HOTS items. Based on the results of the study, it is obtained that the level ofvalidity of the HOTS items was 3.7 which is in the very valid category, the reliability of the HOTS items is 0.81 which is in very good category and thedifficulty level of the HOTS items is 0.60 which is in the medium category. The implications of the developing HOTS items can train and encourage students to do high-level reasoning so that they are not fixated on the pattern of answers that result from the memorization process without knowing the concept of knowledge, and it can make students thinkcritically in doing the test. So that the answers can be produced based on in-depth reasoning from the questions for each item, namely 100 multiplechoice questions and 50 essay questions.

Abstract

The Development of Indonesian Language Teaching Materials Based on Know-ledge Integration in Islamic Higher Education. This study aims at describing: (1) the reality and the needs for materials oriented towards knowledge integration, (2) the prototype and evaluation of the developed teaching materials. This is a Research and Development undertaken in UIN Alauddin Makassar involving 138 students, five lecturers, and two expert validators. The results show the currently used materials is not based on knowledge integration. Integration have been undertaken in the developed materials by including related verses or hadith, raising Islamic themes as reading materials and examples. The developed materials were evaluated by expert validators both content and design with the average score of 3.91 and 3.93 respectively and categorized as very good. The gain index for small and large groups is 0.71 and 0.72 respectively and categorized as high.

Abstract

This study aims 1). To show the types of code-mixing applied by the teacher and students when interacting in the English learning process in Class VII.D MTs Modern Tarbiyah Takalar Islamic Boarding School. 2). To describe the perceptions of students and teachers about code-mixing that is applied when interacting in the process of learning English in Class VII. D MTs Modern Tarbiyah Takalar Islamic Boarding School. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. Data were taken from classroom observations, interviews, and recorders with teachers and students when interacting during the learning process, to determine the type of code-mixing used by teachers and students in the English learning process and to obtain data about student and teacher perceptions of code-mixing. Data were analyzed based on the type of code-mixing according to Hoffman's theory. The results showed that there were three types of code-mixing consisting of 60 utterances, 53 utterances for intra-sentential code-mixing, 3 for intra-lexical code-mixing, and 4 for involving changes in pronunciation. There is a perception of students and teachers in the use of code-mixing in the learning process. For the teacher perception, that code-mixing can train students' ability to speak English, students can define new vocabulary, and make it easier for students to understand the content of learning. The Students perceived that the use of code-mixing in the English teaching and learning process is required to help them understand the content of learning so that the teaching and learning process can run well.
