Abstract

This research aims to discover the behavior patterns and benefits of the Fiddler Crab (Uca pugnax). This study was carried out in the Kuala Langsa Mangrove Forest Area, Aceh Province, between May and June 2022. This research aimed to look into the behavior and benefits of fiddler crabs for mangroves in Kuala Langsa. This study combined an exploratory, descriptive method using a survey methodology and direct field observation. The data was gathered in two stages: (1) Environmental adjustment stage to assess the state of seawater in Langsa City's Mangrove area. (2) The observation stage, in which the Fiddler crab's behavior patterns are observed. The research was carried out at three distinct places every two hours. According to the findings, there are male and female Fiddler crabs in varying quantities and types at each site, resulting in different activity patterns. Fiddler crabs (Uca pugnax) can be seen sunning, excavating holes and producing balls of sediment, carrying sediment balls out of their holes, and lifting and waving their claws to seek the attention of female Fiddler crabs.ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola tingkah laku dan manfaat Kepiting Fiddler (Uca pugnax).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for increasing local revenue and managing village resources in Hilir Village, Tambelan District, Bintan Province.Regional revenue is an important indicator to assess regional independence, and village funds are an important instrument to finance development at the village level. The research method used is a literature review by collecting theoretical references on the topic being discussed. The results show that Hilir Village has potential in the development of the fisheries sector and fisheries trade. The 2023 Village Budget Implementation Report (APB Desa) records village revenues and expenditures in detail and shows that fiscal surpluses indicate good financial management capabilities. However, village expenditures tend to exceed revenues, especially in several areas such as village administration and implementation of village development. Recommendations for strategies to increase local revenue and village resource management include increasing the efficiency and transparency of village financial management, increasing the potential for sectoral revenues such as the fisheries sector, including optimizing the use of information technology in management and public services.  In addition, the allocation of village resources needs to be evaluated in detail to ensure effective and sustainable utilization.  In summary, efforts to increase local revenue and sustainably manage village resources are important steps towards self-reliance and sustainable development at the village level. With the right strategies, it is expected that Hilir Village and its neighboring regions can achieve sustainable economic growth and improve the overall welfare of the community.

Abstract

Maps are strategic instruments in presenting spatial information, functioning not only as visualization media but also as analytical tools to understand regional conditions, identify potentials, and formulate directions for sustainable development. In Busung Village, Seri Kuala Lobam District, Bintan Regency, local potentials remain poorly documented and difficult to access, resulting in suboptimal utilization in both development planning and tourism promotion. This condition poses a challenge for local authorities and communities to provide spatial information that is accurate, attractive, and easily understood. To address this issue, a Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) was carried out through QGIS-based mapping using a descriptive and participatory approach involving local communities and village officials. Data were collected through field observation, interviews, documentation, and satellite imagery processing using QGIS software. The mapping results not only display the administrative boundaries but also visualize the distribution of public facilities, natural attractions, cultural heritage sites, and conservation areas such as mangrove plantations. This activity expands access to spatial information for the community and stakeholders to better understand the geographical characteristics of Busung Village. Through this program, local residents gain hands-on experience in utilizing spatial technology to support decision-making, tourism promotion, and environmental conservation. Therefore, QGIS-based mapping serves not only as an educational and promotional medium but also as a strategic instrument to strengthen village identity and to promote inclusive, participatory, and sustainable development at the local level.
