Abstract

This research delves into the social mobility of Bugis female Hajj pilgrims, examining not only the ways in which the experience of performing the Hajj transforms Bugis women socially but also how this mobility becomes integral to their cultural lives. Utilizing qualitative methods which include field studies and interviews with Bugis women who have completed the Hajj, this research positions them as agents, actors, and subjects. Its objective is to reveal the various forms of social mobility that have reshaped the status of Bugis women who have performed the Hajj. Specifically, it investigates the role of the Hajj as a social identity within Bugis society, the social and cultural transformations experienced by Bugis female Hajj pilgrims, and the effects of their social mobility on changes in their societal status and roles. Field findings show that the social mobility of Bugis female Hajj pilgrims is deeply intertwined with the community’s respect for the difficult journey of performing the Hajj, from departure to return. This journey redefines women’s positions within religious rituals, fosters cultural cohesion through the symbolic attributes worn during the Hajj, and generates both direct and indirect impacts on society through the pilgrims’ contributions.

Abstract

This study aims to test the construct validity of the technostress instrument using an instrument developed by Ragu-Nathan et al. (2008) contained 20 modified items using the Indonesian language. The research data was obtained from middle adult teaching staff, namely teachers and lecturers aged 35-60 who taught online learning during Covid-19. 212 respondents participated in this study. The test used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with first-order per-dimensional, first-order unidimensional, and second-order models. The analysis was done in MPLUS. Based on CFA first-order unidimensional results, the model fits the data with one item discarded (Item 17). The CFA second-order model is also fit according to the goodness criteria with all items being valid except item 6. According to CFA first-order per-dimensional testing, results show that items for three dimensions (techno-overload, techno-complexity, and techno-insecurity) are valid, while the other two dimensions (techno-uncertainty and techno-invasion) are not fit because the number of items is too small. The instrument can be used to measure technostress and is considered to be unidimensional measuring technostress.

Abstract

The lifestyle of the Bugis people has shifted since the presence of Islam. The Bugis people no longer refer to local traditions and customs but are starting to pay attention to Islamic values. So that the movement of the Bugis community cannot be separated from Bugis traditions or customs and Islamic teachings. The well-known Bugis culture is Panngaderreng, the five values of life resulting from joint deliberations on trades and Islamic studies. The panngaderreng formulation requires that Islam be placed as a teaching that must be side by side with the customs and culture of the Bugis community in any sector. It is different from the pilgrimage ritual. In the Bugis tribe, women get a more significant opportunities than men. This is based on the level of interest of Bugis women in the pilgrimage ritual. They place Hajj as a religious status that has a delay because Islamic teachings have only been echoed in this new era compared to their traditions or customs. The method used in this paper is to use a qualitative approach with a literature review (literature review). A literature study was conducted through written data using content analysis. This technique helps obtain a theoretical basis by reviewing and studying books, documents, and research results related to the social mobility of Bugis women.

Abstract

In learning, students should possess the capability to manage their learning effectively to achieve optimal outcomes. Consequently, self-regulated learning becomes crucial for students, encompassing not only general subjects but also religious studies. This research investigates the influence of Personality Type, Spiritual Intelligence, and Social Support on Self-Regulated Learning at Al-Nahdlah Islamic Boarding School. Employing a quantitative method, this study adopts a correlation approach. The sampling technique utilized is probability sampling, specifically stratified random sampling. From 116 students at Al-Nahdlah Islamic Boarding School, a sample of 56 was chosen. For validation, this research employs Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using the Lisrel 8.7 software. Subsequent data analysis was conducted using multiple regression analysis in the SPSS software. Findings indicate a significant influence of Personality Type, Spiritual Intelligence, and Social Support on Self-Regulated Learning among Al-Nahdlah Islamic Boarding School students. The combined contribution of these independent variables to Self-Regulated Learning is 29.0%, leaving 71.0% influenced by other factors. Thus, Personality Type, Spiritual Intelligence, and Social Support significantly impact students' self-regulated learning capabilities. By enhancing students' spiritual intelligence, understanding their personality types, and strengthening their social support networks, institutions can better foster self-regulated learning capabilities, leading to improved academic outcomes and holistic student development.
