Abstract

         The aims of  this study were to isolate and to screen actinomycetes associated with sea slug which have the ability to produce antimicrobial compound, especially against MDR strains. Actinomycetes were isolated from nudibranchs collected from Bandengan coastal waters and the Panjang island, Jepara, Central Java. Actinomycete isolates were assayed for their antimicrobial activity against MDR strains (MDR 6 E. coli, MDR 7 Enterobacter sp., MDR 13 Proteus sp., MDR 14 Staphylococcus sp.). The genetic diversity of the active isolates was analyzed by using repetitive DNA fingerprinting.  Antimicrobial activity was also performed on the  ethyl acetate bacterial extract.  The amplification of Polyketide Synthase-I (PKS-I) and Non-Ribosomal Peptide Synthetase (NRPS) genes was carried out to estimate the genetic potency of actinomycetes. The most active actinomycete isolate was sequenced based on 16S rDNA approach. General profile of antimicrobial substances was analyzed by using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). A total 27 isolates were obtained from nudibranchs Jorunna sp. and 12 isolates from Chromodoris sp.  Ten isolates exhibited antimicrobial activity. Five representative isolates were selected based on rep-PCR analysis.  Three ethyl acetate extracts exhibited antimicrobial activity against MDR 7, MDR 13, and MDR 14, except MDR 6. NPC 8 isolates significantly inhibited the growth of the tested strain   and amplified NRPS gene fragment. Molecular identification revealed that isolate NPC 8 closely related to Streptomyces sp with a high homology of 96%.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the hematological profile (erythrocytes, leukocytes, andhemoglobin) of grower laying hens with different cage density and the best cage density. Thisresearch has been conducted in April 2014 using 210 grower laying hens 7--10 weeks in Varia AgungJaya Farm and Balai Veteriner Lampung. The treatment is given based on completely randomizeddesign (CRD), consisting of four treatments and five replications. The data was analyzed usinganalysis of variance on 5% significance level.The result of the research shows that the density of the cage 6,9,12, and 15 hens m-2 have notsignificant (P>0,05) on hematological profile (erythrocytes 1,04--2,74 x 106 mm-3; leukocytes 27,96--52,52 x 103 mm-3; and hemoglobin 6,40--8,20 g/dl).

Abstract

Purebred chicken egg is the most favorable egg in the society. This egg usually will be damageafter 14-days of storage. Beside of the storage duration, the internal quantity of egg has also beenaffected by quality of eggshell. The quality of eggshell include the eggshell thickness and amount ofeggshell pores. The amount of eggshell pores can be identified by means of eggshell color. The poreshave a role on the CO2 evaporation process, which give effect to the albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.The purposes of the research are to know the best effect of storage duration and eggshell colorto albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. This research was done on April 10-24th, 2014, usecomplete randomize block design with 2x2 of nested model. The main block is storage duration (P1: 7days and P2: 14 days) and the partial block is eggshell’s color (W1: light brown and W2: dark brown)with 5 times replication. The observed variable in this research are albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH. The research’s data were analyzed by using Analysis of variance test and 5% error levelDuncan test.The research result shown that storage duration and eggshell color have significant effect(P<0,05) toward albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. The 7 days storage for light browneggshell color and dark brown eggshell color have good quality of albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate and to compare the effect of tegal duck eggshell colour with different storage time (0, 7, and 14 days) on albumen index, yolk index and egg’s pH. This research was done on April 7--21st, 2014, used complete randomize block design with 3x2 of nest model and orthogonal contrast test. The storage time (P0: 0, P1: 7, and P2: 14 days) as the main block and the eggshell’s colour (W1: light color and W2: dark color) as the partial block with 4 times replications. Each treatment consist of 3 eggs, so that the number of eggs used are 72 and the respond variable in this research are albumen index, yolk index and egg’s pH. The research result shown that storage time and tegal duck eggshell’s colour was significant on albumen index, but not significantly on the yolk index and egg’s pH. Tegal duck eggshell’s color with shell thickness 0,01 mm differences with different time storage (0, 7, and 14 days) were not significant on the value of albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH.

Abstract

This study aims to determine which concepts are best in predicting cash flow operating activities and provide empirical evidence regarding gross profit, operating profit, net income and changes in accounts receivable in predicting cash flows for operating activities in the future by testing each variable. The object of research is manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2013 to 2015. The results of this study indicate that changes in accounts receivable have the best ability compared to gross profit, operating profit and net income in predicting future operating cash flows. Partially only the change of accounts receivable variable that proved to significantly affect the dependent variable (operating cash flow).

Abstract

The objective of this paper was to define the laying chicken production performance in the different stocking densities by evaluation of the feed intake, daily gain, feed convertion, uniformity and income over feed cost (IOFC).The completely randomised design was used in the research , A total 210 of 7 weeks old Isa Brown laying chicken were housed in the boxes in slatt rearing system at density of 6, 9, 12 and 15 birds/ m2 with 5 repition of each treatment. Result of trial indicate that stocking density had no significane effect on their feed intake, daily gain, feed convertion, uniformity and income over feed cost (IOFC). Consequently, the same production could be achieved by laying chicken with different stocking density (6,9 ,12 and 15 birds/m2 ) in the early grower phase.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to (1) investigate the effects of storage time and eggshell colour of tegal duck eggs on the internal egg quality, (2) determine eggshell colour with the different storage time on score of haugh unit, pH of albumen, pH of yolk, and yolk colour. A total 72 duck egg with Completely Randomized Nest Design was used in this study. The treatments consist of 3 storage time (0, 7, and 14 days) as the main plot factor, 2 treatments eggshell colour (bright and dark) as the nest plot factor and 4 replications. Orthogonal contrast test done if there is a real variable. Based on the result showed that duck eggshell colour (bright and dark) treatments on storage time 0, 7, and 14 days did not provide significant effect on score haugh unit, pH of albumen, pH of yolk, and yolk colour of tegal duck eggs. The treatment eggshell colour (bright and dark) with a shell thickness of 0.01 mm difference with storage time 0, 7, and 14 days give the same contribution on the internal duck egg quality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to 1) investigate the effects of heartleaf maderavine madevine (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) extract in water on performance of broiler 2) determine the optimal dose of heartleaf maderavine madevine leave extract in water on performance of broiler. This research use Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 5 treatments (0 mg heartleaf maderavine madevine exract/kg bw, 100 mg heartleaf maderavine madevine exract kg bw, 150 mg heartleaf maderavine madevine exract /kg bw, 200 mg heartleaf maderavine madevine exract /kg bw, and 250 mg heartleaf maderavine madevine exract kg bw) and 4 replications. The material used 100 broilers age 15 days and was carried out for 14 days. Polynomal orthogonal test done if there is a signification variable. Based on result showed that the treatments did not provide significant effect on performance of broiler.

Abstract

Ekosistem terumbu karang memiliki nilai penting dalam kehidupan, baik dari segi ekologi maupun nilai ekonomi. Perairan Penginuman, Gilimanuk merupakan salah satu lokasi dengan kondisi terumbu karang yang buruk. Echinopora lamellosa merupakan spesies karang hias yang memiliki pertumbuhan cepat sehingga dapat digunakan dalam upaya pemulihan karang. Laju pertumbuhan karang dapat diukur dengan menghitung penambahan tinggi maupun luas areanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui laju pertumbuhan dan survival rate karang E. lamellosa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis kuantitatif dengan pengambilan data secara langsung selama 4 bulan dengan interval waktu setiap 1 bulan sekali. Foto karang sampel didigitasi menggunakan software ImageJ untuk mengetahui luas area pertumbuhannya. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu kenaikan rata-rata area pertumbuhan per bulan yaitu berkisar antara 1.04 – 2.79 cm2. Hasil perhitungan tingkat kelangsungan hidup E. lamellosa bernilai 66.67%. Budidaya karang secara in situ yang dilakukan di perairan Penginuman, Gilimanuk termasuk dalam kategori berhasil karena karang tumbuh lebih cepat dan memiliki kelangsungaan hidup yang cukup tinggi. Coral reef ecosystems have important role in life, both from an ecological and economic values. Water of Penginuman, in Gilimanuk is one of the locations with poor conditions of its coral reef. Echinopora lamellosa is one of ornamental coral species that has fast growth so they can be used in coral recovery system. Coral growth rate can be known by measuring calculating the growth of their height and wide area of surface. The purpose of this research was to find out the growth rate and survival rate of E. lamellosa corals. Quantitative analysis with direct data collection was used in this research method for 4 months with intervals once per month. Coral photos sample were digitized using ImageJ software to determine the wide area of their growth. The data show an increase in average monthly growth, which varies from 1.04 to 2.79 cm2. The calculated E. lamellosa survival rate was 66.67%. The in situ method of coral culture in Penginuman Waters, Gilimanuk, may be considered effective because the corals grow more quickly and have a high enough survival rate.
