Abstract

Motivation is a fundamental element that determines success in learning and character development of students. In Islam, motivation possesses a profound spiritual dimension, as reflected in the Qur'an and Hadith. This study aims to explore the concept of motivation in the Qur'an and Hadith and analyze its relevance in the context of education. The methodology employed is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach, examining Qur'anic verses, Hadiths of the Prophet, and the perspectives of Islamic scholars and education figures. The research findings reveal that motivation in the Qur'an encompasses four main principles: (1) Focus on the Hereafter, which places the pleasure of Allah and happiness in the Hereafter as the ultimate goal; (2) Correct Intention, where every action should begin with sincerity; (3) Balance between the World and the Hereafter, meaning worldly motivations are permissible as long as they align with Islamic values; and (4) Spiritual Encouragement, involving love, fear, and hope in Allah. These findings affirm that spiritual motivation in Islam is not only relevant for fostering a learning spirit but also for shaping an education system that is holistic and oriented towards blessings in both this world and the Hereafter. The conclusion of this study is that integrating the values of motivation found in the Qur'an and Hadith into education can strengthen the character of students, enhance the quality of the learning process, and create a generation that is intellectually brilliant while also possessing noble morals. This finding is expected to contribute to the development of education based on Islamic spiritual values.

Abstract

This article discusses Malay globalization. Actually, what the Malays call is not an ethnic or ethnic community as many people today understand. It is time for Malays to collectively refine their view of Malay by building a different paradigm in a horizontal level through a not-cramped perspective of lokaism, since Malay is something that is not single (heterogeneous). In the identification and revitalization of Malay it is actually needed support from various components, both intellectuals and experts, as well as the holders and policy makers in several Malay rural countries. Thus expected the birth of a kind of strategic alliance between Malays in order to develop science and technology, politics, economics, culture, education and others. In any case, in the context of the modernity of Malay civilization that has found its identity will become more advanced as well as will be able to influence the great civilization of the world-if it can reverse the state of the hegemony into a hegemonizing culture.

Abstract

The development of Islamic education in Thailand reflects a complex dynamic shaped by historical, sociocultural, and governmental policy factors. This article aims to examine the historical background, educational system, and state policies that have influenced the existence of Islamic education, particularly in the southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Satun—regions known as centers of the Malay-Muslim community. This community has long played a pivotal role in preserving Islamic traditions through the provision of religious education. Islamic education in Thailand has evolved along two main pathways: traditional pondok institutions that emphasize classical Islamic studies, and modern madrasahs that integrate religious curricula with general subjects in accordance with national education standards. Since the 1960s, the Thai government has implemented policies to modernize Islamic education as part of a broader strategy to improve educational quality and promote social integration. However, these policies have also raised concerns about potential cultural assimilation and the diminishing autonomy of Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach through a literature review method, the findings reveal that Islamic education in Thailand continues to undergo adaptation and renewal. Despite facing structural and political challenges, Islamic educational institutions remain essential in maintaining the religious identity and cultural heritage of the Muslim minority in a predominantly Buddhist nation.
