Abstract

The Catholic Church is more than 2000 years old and in that period of time the Church has undergone many changes. Major changes occurred after the Second Vatican Council was convened which spoke of various aspects of the life of the Church. The Second Vatican Council itself was closed in 1962 which means more than 50 years ago. Talking about change in the Church means that we cannot be separated from the agents of change themselves, which in this case are the clergy, both from a particular diocese and from an institute. In this article, we will discuss how the clergy who in the article narrowed down within the scope of the Congregation of Missions responded to the Second Vatican Council in their lives or in their works? Did the results of the Second Vatican Council have any effect on the Congregation of Missions? To answer these questions, the author will first conduct an in-depth study of the texts produced by the Second Vatican Council and try to see how they relate to the works of the priests of the Congregation for Missions. After conducting studies and various researches related to the themes discussed, the authors found that all the works carried out by the Congregation of Missions were not works that just appeared, but works that try to answer the problems that exist around the Church in the light of the Second Vatican Council.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the incarnation spirituality of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort and its relevance in today's hedonic culture. The background of this paper is the increasingly rapid development of technology and economics which has spawned the seeds of egoism and killed the spirit to live caring for each other and the attitude of solidarity in living together. The method used in this paper is the historical-factual-critical analysis method. Meaning, the author will explore Montfort's writings that talk about the Incarnation, then analyze them based on their historical context and confront them with contemporary theological reflections. Subsequently, logical conclusions will be drawn to answer the questions raised. Based on the analysis obtained, Montfort’s Incarnation spirituality is still relevant for the Church today. The fact that the Incarnation spirituality he elaborated finds its origine in God who showed solidarity towards humans, by itself invites the Church and all humanity to cultivate a spirit of solidarity.

Abstract

Abstract. The “race” to virtue is important in Gregory of Nyssa’s spiritual theology. In this article, De Vita Moysis (The Life of Moses) became the key texts for everyone who ended his life still striving for the “finish line.” The biblical patriarch Moses never set foot in the promised land but had to be content to gaze on it from afar. In a similar way, final perfection, typified in the Platonic sense as a state of undisturbed rest, eludes readers of Gregory’s The Life of Moses. In the “divine race along the course of virtue,” they are to strain “constantly” for the “prize of the heavenly calling.” The true perfection consists not in reaching the destination itself but rather in taking part in the journey, which is a process of incessant “becoming” through participation in the life of God. It means that “becoming Christian” is continuous improvement of the quality of the interior and exterior aspects of a Christian life.

Abstract

Abstract. The focus of this paper is to understand digital ecclesia as a form of pastoral care in this digital era. In this digital era, the Church also needs to revitalise itself to find new methods in its preaching. The Church should not only focus on the strict rules of liturgy but really think about contextual theology in this digital era. The Church as a community of faith has an important role in the task of preaching Christ's mission, namely salvation to all people. Preaching in this digital era certainly has its own challenges that need to be a common focus in Church life. This Study was conducted by the literature study method. This study was based on the message delivered by Pope Francis on the 56th Communication Day. The results of this study showed the need for awareness to do a new catechesis in the digital era, which is a Church that is willing to listen with the heart for the growth and development of the synodal church.

Abstract

This paper departs from the author's anxiety to see the lack of enthusiasm and activeness of young people, especially the MBK parish OMK organization, Probolinggo in participating in church activities. The author collects data from the database of parishioners (the total number of young people), answers to questions on google forms, and the author's experience when he was one of the supervisors of OMK, Probolinggo. All the data collected were then analyzed using a qualitative-descriptive method. The author will show the results of the research based on the data that has been obtained through the MBK parish, various answers from young members of OMK, and the author's own observations. Through these data, it was found that there were gaps within the organization itself, and the time mismatch of existing activities with their respective statuses and activities. Not yet compact, lack of enthusiasm, and the activeness of OMK members is what then makes many young people in MBK parish not interested in becoming OMK members. Based on the formulation of the existing problems and the findings, it can be concluded that good, in-depth, and sustainable catechesis is very influential for young people to create cohesiveness in the OMK organization, so that they respect each other, relate closely, and are full of brotherhood with one another.
