Abstract

In the process of learning mathematics there is a very important and inseparable process of solving problems. Mathematical problems are still always found difficult by students in the process of solving them, so not many students can do problem solving even though students are required to be able to solve math problems until they find the right answer for the problem. The purpose of this study was to describe the answers of class VIII SMP students in solving SPLDV questions in terms of mathematical problem solving abilities. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this study consisted of three students, each of whom had problem solving abilities based on high, medium and low categories. The results of this study were that students in class VIII B at SMP Pasundan 1 Banjaran in the high category could complete the problem solving stages according to Polya and were able to explain the process of solving SPLDV questions. For students in the medium category, they are able to explain the process of solving SPLDV questions, but they are still not quite right in completing the problem solving stages according to Polya. Meanwhile, students in the low category could not complete the problem solving steps according to Polya in solving SPLDV questions.

Abstract

Media is needed in the learning process to support practicum activities. Practicum tools can be made with simple materials, but must meet the standards or eligibility of the tool. This study aims to make a practicum tool in the form of a simple periscope as an optical learning medium in schools. Periscope is an optical instrument used to see objects from hidden places. Usually, periscopes are used on submarines. However, in this study a simple periscope was made from a flat mirror which can be used as a learning medium in schools. This research is experimental research with the stages of preparation, manufacture and testing of tools. The simple periscope that has been designed is a flat mirror periscope made of PVC pipe, L pipe, and a flat mirror. The results of a simple periscope test in the field are being able to see objects clearly as far as the eye can see, the image shape obtained is virtual, upright, and the same size, while the focal length is half of the object distance

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop appropriate (valid and reliable) learning tools to improve students' generic science skills (KGS) and creativity. The tool developed was based on an integrated STEM project on temperature and heat material in terms of the validity and reliability of the instrument. These tools are in the form of syllabus, RPP, LKPD, and teaching materials as well as KGS instruments and creativity instruments. The type of research is Research and Development (R&D). Device development uses the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The research subjects were class XI MIA students at SMAIT Putri Abu Hurairah Mataram. The results of the syllabus validation obtained an Aiken V index score of 0.88 in the very valid category, RPP 0.84 in the very valid category, LKPD 0.81 in the very valid category, teaching materials 0.81 in the very valid category, KGS instruments 0.79 in the valid category, and creativity instrument 0.80 valid category. The overall average validation score is 0.82 with a very valid category. The results of the reliability of the syllabus, RPP, LKPD, teaching materials, KGS instruments and creativity are reliable with an average score of 93%. Based on these results, integrated STEM project-based learning tools are very feasible (valid and reliable) to be used in learning activities to improve students' generic science skills and creativity.
