Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the reading interest of elementary school students. By using data collection through a google form. COVID-19 turns out not to create students ' interest in reading to decrease. After a given material was directly distributed, it raises students ' interest in reading. By providing the material in individuals then the presentation of the rose to 44.4%. The presentation rise students’ interest in reading. This happens because there is little research regarding the reading interest of 4th-grade elementary school students. The rising reading interest will bring up students’ interest. COVID-19 does not become a barrier to the students to keep reading.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menganalisis dampak cerpen terhadap minat baca siswa di sekolah menengah. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif, dengan desain one-shot case study. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner terhadap 30 siswa. Intervensi dilakukan melalui pembelajaran berbasis cerpen yang dipilih secara tematik dan relevan dengan dunia remaja. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistik deskriptif, dengan menghitung mean dan persentase untuk menggambarkan perubahan tingkat minat baca dan pemahaman nilai moral siswa sebelum dan sesudah intervensi.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan minat baca siswa sebesar 36,7% dan peningkatan kemampuan memahami nilai moral hingga 70% setelah mengikuti program membaca cerpen secara intensif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa cerpen memiliki potensi besar sebagai media literasi yang efektif dan menyenangkan. Untuk mendukung keberhasilan program, perlu adanya variasi konten, metode penyampaian yang kreatif, serta integrasi cerpen ke dalam kurikulum dan kegiatan literasi di sekolah. Penelitian ini juga memberikan implikasi teoritis terhadap pengembangan model literasi berbasis sastra di sekolah menengah.This study aims to measure and analyze the impact of short stories on students' reading interest in secondary schools. The method used is quantitative, with a one-shot case study design. Data collection techniques through questionnaires of 30 students. The intervention is carried out through short story-based learning that is selected thematically and is relevant to the world of adolescents. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics, by calculating the mean and percentage to describe changes in the level of reading interest and understanding of students' moral values before and after the intervention. The results showed that there was an increase in students' reading interest by 36.7% and an increase in the ability to understand moral values by up to 70% after participating in an intensive short story reading program. This study concludes that short stories have great potential as an effective and enjoyable literacy medium. To support the success of the program, there is a need for content variation, creative delivery methods, and integration of short stories into the curriculum and literacy activities in schools. This study also provides theoretical implications for the development of a literature-based literacy model in secondary schools.
