Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of LEGO games on early childhood spatial abilities and understanding of mathematical concepts. Through a quantitative approach, this study involved children aged 5-6 years at Kober Darul Amanah Kindergarten, West Bandung Regency with a population of all students in the school and a sample of 25 students selected randomly. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method and explanatory research design. This study is included in a causal-correlational study, which is a method to see the relationship or influence between variable X and variable Y without direct manipulation. The sampling technique used is probability sampling with the simple random sampling method. The results of the analysis showed that the data were not normally distributed, with a significance value of 0.017 for spatial ability and 0.016 for mathematical understanding. In addition, the correlation analysis produced a significance value of 0.378, which indicates that there is no significant relationship between LEGO games and increased spatial ability and understanding of children's mathematical concepts. These findings indicate that although LEGO play can be an educational tool, its use in this context is not effective enough to improve both aspects of cognitive development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the contextual approach in the development of contemporary Islamic da'wah through legal education and the development of a mathematics education-based curriculum tailored to the needs of modern youth. Qualitative research methods were employed, using in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis for data collection. The contextual approach was chosen for its ability to integrate Islamic values with legal principles and mathematical concepts such as patterns, logic, and regularity, so that da'wah becomes not only a spiritual tool but also an intellectual tool. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes relating to strategies, opportunities and challenges in applying this approach. The findings show that the application of the contextual approach to math-based da'wah in legal education enhances students' logical and practical understanding of Islamic values and legal principles. However, challenges faced such as limited teacher competence in integrating these areas and lack of relevant teaching materials were identified. This research provides practical recommendations for preachers, educators, and policy makers to support innovative, relevant, and sustainable da'wah strategies. Therefore, this research contributes to the development of effective da'wah methods.

Abstract

The issue of religious extremism and intolerance has become a significant challenge in contemporary Islamic education, particularly in shaping students’ religious character. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) play a strategic role in instilling moderate Islamic values through religious learning traditions and cultural practices. This study aims to describe the internalization of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) values tawasuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), tasamuh (tolerance), and i’tidal (justice) in developing the moderate character of students at Simpay Hurip Al-Musri’ Islamic Boarding School as a non-formal salafi pesantren. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Research participants included the kiai, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The novelty of this research lies in revealing the internalization of Aswaja values in a non-formal salafi pesantren without a formal curriculum but implemented systematically through pesantren culture, exemplary leadership, and traditional learning activities. The findings show that this process fosters open, tolerant, and dialogical attitudes among students.
