Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students in the material on the human digestive system at MTs. Nurul Ikhlas Ambon, the type of this research was Classroom Action Research conducted in 2 cycles, the subjects of this research were class VIII students of MTs Nurul Ikhlas Ambon, totaling 20 students. The instrument used in this study was a test instrument, with 20 test questions. This research was carried out from November 16, 2022 to December 16, 2022. The results showed that student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle of students who completed 2 students with a completeness percentage of 10 % whereas 18 students did not complete with a completeness percentage of 90%, while in the first cycle stage there were 8 students who completed with a completeness percentage of 40% and did not complete as many as 12 students with a completeness percentage of 60%, while in cycle II students who did not complete as many as 3 students with a completeness percentage of 15% and students who completed as many as 17 students with a completeness percentage of 85%. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of applying the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) approach to mechanics education to enhance problem-solving skills and creativity among students. The focus of this research is on third-semester students of the Tadris IPA study program during the 2023/2024 academic year. Using the classroom action research (CAR) method, the STEM approach was implemented through small projects and integrated experiments involving fundamental concepts of mechanics, such as kinematics and dynamics. The research was conducted in two cycles, each followed by evaluation and reflection to improve the learning process. The results showed significant improvements in both measured skills. In the first cycle, the average problem-solving skills score was 65.8, and creativity was 68.5. In the second cycle, problem-solving skills reached 85.4, while creativity improved to 88.2. These findings suggest that the application of the STEM approach in mechanics education can enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students. This study concludes that the use of the STEM approach in mechanics education is an effective method to support the development of essential skills in higher education, particularly in the fields of science and technology.

Abstract

The role of mangroves in mitigating climate change is realized through their carbon storage capacity, but deforestation carried out for the expansion of the Tulehu pier threatens the existence of these carbon reserves. This study aims to estimate mangrove vegetation carbon stocks based on aboveground biomass and belowground biomass in Tulehu Waters, Central Maluku. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling using a non-destructive allometric model on a 10 x 10 m plot. Aboveground and belowground biomass were calculated and then converted into mangrove carbon stocks. Data evaluation was carried out by measuring mangrove biomass and carbon stocks in the Tulehu Waters. Research findings show that the average carbon reserves of mangrove vegetation are the highest on the surface were found at station II (17,571 tC/ha), and underground were found at station (15,222 tC/ha). These findings confirm that mangrove vegetation in Tulehu Waters has significant potential as a carbon sink and support conservation strategies and sustainable coastal management.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to integrate this concept into the school environment, one way being through learning, which helps students understand and practice the teachings of Islam in a moderate and tolerant manner.Methodology – This research employs a qualitative and descriptive approach, utilizing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The subjects of our Community Service activities consisted of 19 teachers and 39 students from three Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in the Central Maluku district, namely Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Hidayah Liang, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Salman Al Farisi Liang, and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Kahar 2 Iha Liang.Findings – Training on strengthening numeracy literacy and science literacy based on religious moderation can improve the ability of teachers at 3 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Central Maluku district to implement numeracy literacy-based mathematics learning and science literacy-based science learning. The pre-test results showed an average score of 27, while the post-test average increased significantly to 75.3. On the other hand, for the application of numeracy literacy learning and science literacy based on religious moderation, there are still teachers who struggle to apply it.Contribution – This research can improve the ability of teachers and students regarding numeracy literacy and science literacy at 3 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Central Maluku district, as well as understanding and applying the concept of religious moderation in everyday life.
