Abstract

Introduction: The increasing of confirmed positive case of SARS-Cov-2 Virus impacts to the need for improvement of health services, especially to the health workers and medical equipment. Along with the importance of regarding need of health service, it causes the rise number of medical waste that leads to health problem crisis. Therefore, this article presents common insight of the effectivity and challenge of medical waste management in Covid-19 pandemic.Methods: The notion is gained by finding out the source database from Pubmed, ScienceDirect, Google scholar, Researchgate that classified based on the research purpose. The keywords used were: (1) Covid-19 and medical waste; (2) pandemic solid waste; (3) waste and Covid-19; (4) management and pandemics.Results: An effective method to be applied is sterilizer technology, such as VH2O2 dan Stryker STERIZONE VP4, and the development of late waste respirator with the pyrolysis process. The method and the management process is considered, either nationally or internationally, as effective, but still we found challenge to implement the method, as lack of socialisation and support from the functionary.  Conclusion: the method management can be implemented in the various countries, based on the needs and capability.

Abstract

Provinsi Jawa Timur merupakan salah satu provinsi dengan tingkat prevalensi anemia pada remaja putri lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan prevalensi nasional. Anemia pada remaja putri berdampak buruk terhadap penurunan imunitas, konsentrasi, prestasi belajar, kebugaran remaja dan produktivitas. Anemia pada remaja putri disebabkan karena pola konsumsi yang kurang sehat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan literasi gizi berupa peningkatan pengetahuan terkait anemia dan pedoman gizi seimbang untuk terhindar dari anemia dan kekurangan energi kronis sehingga menjadi Cebbing cemerlang yang sehat dan cerdas. Kegiatan literasi gizi dilakukan dengan penyuluhan terkait anemia dan pedoman gizi seimbang kepada remaja putri kelas 7,8 dan 9 di SMPN 2 Pamekasan sejumlah 80 siswi. Kegiatan juga dilanjutkan dengan pembentukan WhatsApp Group (WAG) untuk me-refresh materi yang telah disampaikan sebelumnya. Sebagian kecil remaja putri memiliki tingkat pengetahuan gizi dalam kategori kurang. Kegiatan literasi gizi melalui WhatsApp Group (WAG) dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan para remaja putri yang tergambarkan dari respon mereka di WAG dan juga jawaban-jawaban benar mereka yang terlontar selama proses diskusi. Peningkatan pengetahuan ini diharapkan menjadi modal untuk perubahan perilaku pencegahan anemia dengan patuh minum TTD dan juga konsumsi makanan yang dapat mencegah anemia, sehingga tujuan mencetak Cebbing Madura Cemerlang bisa tercapai.

Abstract

Background: The government has made efforts in the prevention and management of anemia through the distribution of Iron Supplementation Tablets (IST) in schools. One of the problems facing by the government and schools is lack of periodic measurement of hemoglobin levels. Furthermore, there was no socialization source of iron comes from foods by schools.Materials and Methods : The aimed of this study is to increase adolescent knowledge about foods source of iron and also to monev government IST among adolescent. This research is a quasy experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design. Experimental study conducted at MTSN X Jember with a total of 30 female adolescent respondents who fused into one intervention group. Supplementation of IST (1 tablet per week) was provided for 8 weeks (November-December 2021). Improving knowledge among adolescent was measured using Tricky Card Games and pre-posttest questionnaires.  Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention, and monitoring and education were conducted as reminders for taking the tablets through the Monev IST application and a WhatsApp Group. Monitoring and evaluation of adolescent’s adherence for IST consumption using Monev Tablet Tambah Darah application which can download by each adolescent smartphone and also connected with supervisor.Results: The results showed an increase in hemoglobin levels after the treatment, with pre-treatment levels ranging from 9.1 g/dL to 16 g/dL, and an average of 13.53 g/dL, while post-treatment levels ranged from 8.1 g/dL to 17.2 g/dL, with an average of 13.67 g/dL. There was a significant increase in knowledge of foods source iron among adolescent (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in hemoglobin levels (p > 0.05) or consumption patterns (p > 0.05) after the intervention through the tricky card game.Conclusion: Giving IST regularly can increase Hb levels supported by improving knowledge and consumption patterns can be a solution to handling anemia in adolescent girls.Keywords : Anemia; counseling; level of knowledge; consumption patterns; young women
