Abstract

Communication is a key factor in the effective delivery of messages. Therefore,every individual must possess the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.Public speaking is one form of effective communication that requires specificskills. A lack of communication skills can hinder an individual's confidence whenspeaking in public. Public speaking is often called "pidato" (speech) in Indonesian.A speech involves delivering ideas or thoughts to an audience using clear, polite,and understandable language. The ability to speak in public should be cultivatedfrom an early age, especially during schooling, so that students develop confidencein expressing their opinions. Self-confidence is the belief in one’s abilities,enabling individuals to remain unaffected by the opinions of others and to act inalignment with their desires while maintaining happiness, optimism, tolerance, andresponsibility. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of public speakingtraining in fostering self-confidence among students, particularly those at SMAN 7Bekasi who have participated in public speaking training. This research employs aqualitative approach and is based on field research. Data were gathered throughdirect observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis of books andjournals relevant to the topic. The research was conducted between March andMay 2024. The findings of this study indicate that public speaking training plays asignificant role in enhancing students' self-confidence. This is evident from thepositive changes reported by students after attending the training, includingincreased courage to speak in front of an audience, reduced fear, and a noticeableboost in self-confidence

Abstract

In the context of interpersonal communication, good listening skills are essential for building effective relationships between coaches and students. Although effective communication involves the exchange of information, problems often arise from a lack of listening skills. Through the designed training, participants are taught about the principles of active listening, including mindfulness, empathy, and constructive feedback. This Community Service activity aims to improve listening skills for art trainers at Ayodya Pala Art Center, located in Depok city. This activity is carried out in the form of interactive workshops that include simulations and role-playing, as well as continuous evaluation to measure the improvement of listening skills. The results of this Community Service activity show that the interactive approach is able to improve listening skills, create an inclusive learning environment, and support the preservation of traditional cultural arts. Scientific publications and documentation of activities are additional outputs produced.

Abstract

In today's digital age, social media has become a fundamental part of everyday life, especially in the context of interactions between family members. As a platform that facilitates communication despite physical distance, social media serves not only as a communication tool but also as a medium for strengthening emotional bonds among family members. This study aims to understand the role of social media in family communication in the digital age, as well as to identify its benefits, challenges, and impact on relationships between family members. Using a qualitative research approach through in-depth interviews with informants in South Jakarta, this study reveals that social media, particularly WhatsApp, serves as an effective tool for maintaining flexible and rapid communication amid busy schedules and physical distance. Additionally, social media can strengthen emotional bonds, facilitate self-expression, and enhance openness and support within families. However, the use of social media also presents challenges, such as the potential for reduced direct interaction, the risk of misinterpreting messages, and a decrease in face-to-face gathering time. The research findings highlight the importance of using social media wisely and in moderation to maximize its positive potential while minimizing its negative impacts. This study is expected to provide insights for families in optimizing the benefits of social media as a communication tool that can strengthen family bonds in the digital age while maintaining direct interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

Strategi komunikasi pemasaran bagi lembaga non komersial seperti sekolah merupakan hal penting karena dengan komunikasi pemasaran, sekolah dapat menginformasikan kepada masyarakat tentang produk-produk atau program yang ada di sekolah untuk meningkatkan minat masyarakat, sehingga masyarakat dalam hal ini calon peserta didik secara langsung dapat mengetahui berbagai informasi ata program yang dimiliki sekolah.Ukuran keberhasilan strategi komunikasi pemasaran dapat dilihat dari tingkat kesadaran dan hasrat masyarakat terhadap produk atau program yang ditawarkan sampai pada tindakan seseorang mengambil keputusan atau merekomendasikan kepada orang lain.Masalah yang dibahas pada penelitian ini adalah Bagaimana Strategi Komunikasi Pemasaran Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi dalam Menarik Minat Peserta Didik Baru. Pertanyaan ini muncul karena peneliti melihat bahwa Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi yang berdiri sejak tahun 1992 dan terletak pada lokasi strategis dengan total luas tanah 1,2 ha ini mempunyai peserta didik dari tingkat TK hingga SMK di Tahun Ajaran 2022/2023 hanya 294 siswa.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui bagaimana strategi komunikasi pemasaran yang digunakan Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi dalam menarik minat peserta didik baru dengan menggunakan Analisis STOP-SIT, yang merupakan syarat mutlak keberadaan suatu strategi komunikasi pemasaran, yaitu Segmentation, Targeting, Objectives, Positioning, Sequance of tool, Intergrating dan Tools.Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui pengamatan, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi. Narasumber dari penelitian ini adalah Humas dan tim PPDB Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi. Penelitian ini berlangsung dari bulan Juni sampai Juli 2023.Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh tentang strategi komunikasi pemasaran Sekolah Walisong Bekasi berdasarkan pada Analisis STOP-SIT adalah Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi belum menjalankan tujuh unsur yang ada. Dari tujuh unsur yang merupakan syarat mutlak keberadaan suatu strategi komunikasi pemasaran, Sekolah Walisongo hanya menjalankan 3 unsur yaitu targeting, sequence of Tools dan tools serta belum mengelola media social secara maksimal terutama Website.Luaran penelitian yang ditargetkan yaitu Publikasi Jurnal pada Jurnal Ilmu Ekonomi dan Sosial (JIES). Penelitian ini diharapkan bermanfaat dalam kajian Ilmu Komunikasi serta dapat memberikan masukan bagi Sekolah Walisongo Bekasi dalam melakukan strategi komunikasi pemasaran.

Abstract

Increasing environmental awareness and maintaining environmental sustainability is one of the goals in sustainable development. This needs to be conveyed to students so that they understand the importance of preserving the environment and are able to convey effective and persuasive messages to others through public speaking. Students as a young generation who can create positive changes need to have public speaking skills to communicate this real action. The purpose of this activity is to increase environmental awareness and educate students about environmental issues and improve public speaking skills as an effort to convey environmental messages to others and the wider community. This activity was carried out at SMAN 7 Bekasi City with 40 students participating. PkM activities are carried out through three parts, namely preparation, implementation and evaluation. In the implementation stage, students were given material about the importance of increasing environmental awareness and how to convey environmental communication to others through public speaking so that students are able and brave to convey environmental messages well. The results of the activity show that students have more in-depth knowledge about environmental communication, how to maintain and preserve the environment and are able to compose interesting environmental messages through public speaking to convey environmental messages to the wider community. This is known from the results of the activity evaluation. Evaluation activities are carried out to ensure participants have deeper knowledge about environmental conservation and are able to compose interesting environmental messages through public speaking.  Students conveyed the need for further activities on environmental communication and public speaking training so that students as a young generation have high environmental awareness and have good public speaking skills. This Community Service activity is able to increase environmental awareness and be able to provide public speaking skills to students, which will be used in conveying environmental messages.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan transformasional terhadap kinerja pegawai Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) di Kelurahan Meruya Selatan, Jakarta Barat. Dalam era reformasi birokrasi dan peningkatan tuntutan pelayanan publik, efektivitas kepemimpinan menjadi faktor krusial dalam mendorong kinerja pegawai. Gaya kepemimpinan transformasional, yang mencakup pengaruh ideal, motivasi inspiratif, stimulasi intelektual, dan pertimbangan individual, diyakini mampu menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang kondusif, memotivasi pegawai, serta meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas layanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 110 ASN yang bekerja di lingkungan Kelurahan Meruya Selatan. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) untuk menguji hubungan antara variabel kepemimpinan transformasional dan kinerja pegawai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan transformasional berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja ASN, terutama pada dimensi motivasi inspiratif dan perhatian individual. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya peran kepemimpinan dalam menciptakan perubahan positif di lingkungan kerja ASN. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya peningkatan kapasitas kepemimpinan transformasional di tingkat kelurahan melalui pelatihan dan pengembangan kompetensi manajerial. Penelitian ini juga membuka peluang bagi studi lanjutan yang mengkaji peran variabel mediasi seperti motivasi kerja atau komitmen organisasi dalam hubungan antara kepemimpinan dan kinerja ASN.
