Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of educated and career-oriented women in maintaining household welfare. The main focus of this research is how women with a high level of education and a successful career can fulfill dual roles as homemakers and professionals without neglecting their family responsibilities. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods to systematically and factually describe the phenomenon. Data were collected from various sources, including academic journals, articles, and relevant books. The findings reveal that women with higher education and successful careers contribute significantly to household welfare, including economic support, children's education, and family relationships. From an Islamic perspective, women can work as long as they do not neglect their duties as wives and mothers. This dual role also supports the achievement of maqashid al-shari'ah, which includes preserving religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth. However, this study also highlights the challenges faced by women in performing dual roles, such as role conflicts, limited time for family, and social pressures. Therefore, support from partners and the social environment is essential to creating harmony between a woman's household life and career.

Abstract

Using Naomi Wolf's idea of power feminism, this study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology. The study centers on a female character's quest for domination in the face of men's powerful predominance. The study's focus is Sweet Avocadoes' English-language digital novel The Alpha's Betrayal in 99 Days, which was released on the iReader platform. This reading and writing app distributes over 600,000 titles to over 70 million active readers in more than 150 countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia.  The purpose of this study is to reveal the forms and functions of power represented through the main female character, Shayna Anderson. The findings indicate that female power in the novel is portrayed through personal charm, physical strength, resilience, and decisiveness. These attributes enable the protagonist to dominate male characters and negotiate an equal gender position. Thus, the novel emphasizes that women can claim authority in patriarchal social relations through a combination of charisma, strength, and courage. In this study, the author also examines the perspective of women in Islamic teachings as a point of comparison. In addition to challenging the presumption that gender equality is associated with patriarchal culture, this discussion attempts to investigate how the idea is positioned inside the Islamic faith. The writer aims to show that through the teachings of the Qur'an, Islam promotes women's rights and equality with men in several spheres of life, in addition to acknowledging their existence. As a result, this section emphasizes the significance of feminist principles found in Qur'anic texts as a basis for creating a more equitable and proportionate understanding of women's roles in Islam. Abstract

Functional typology focuses on clause structure and argument relations as they contribute to meaning. The purpose of this research is to characterize the Minangkabau language's grammatical relationships and semantic roles of subjects and objects. The study uses a literature-based methodology and a qualitative descriptive method. The data were taken from Minangkabau folktales and consists of 80 basic clauses. In order to ascertain syntactic behavior, the analysis employs subjecthood tests (raising, reflexive control, relativization, and quantifier float) in addition to identifying grammatical relations and semantic roles. The results show that Minangkabau subjects continuously hold the greatest syntactic position, regardless of whether they behave as agents or non-agents. Subjects can appear before the predicate, influence reflexive noun phrases, and be relativized. However, objects are different from subjects. Direct objects function as dative or benefactive semantically, whilst indirect objects function as patient. Grammatical relations and semantic roles interact hierarchically and functionally in phrase structure, as demonstrated by Minangkabau's typological nominative–accusative alignment with a simple S–V–O word order.

Abstract

There has been a continuous debate among university lecturers in Indonesia regarding the proper literary theory integrated into literature subjects for undergraduate English education majors. The lecturers argue that literary theory, distinguished by its theoretical density and highly specialized jargon, is immensely daunting for undergraduate students and thus more appropriately taught at the graduate level of literary studies. As a result, the conventional literary classroom system should be shifted into the classroom with an ability to understand, to overcome the problems, and to implement the knowledge into the skills that are useful for contributing to students' success in the current condition. Therefore, implementing PBL in integrating literary theory into teaching English literature is essential in order to address the limitations outlined earlier. A qualitative research approach was employed in this study, utilizing a case study design to investigate a complex phenomenon or event within its natural context. After conducting a case study with the application integrating theoretical frameworks into literary analysis in Literature for Educational Purposes, it has been perceived a more comprehensible understanding of significant academic value has been perceived that literary theories contribute to the undergraduate literature classroom. Students are trained to evaluate, analyze, and give value to the text they have read. The application of literary theories in the literature classroom instruction has been proven to allow students to develop their literary comprehension. Abstract

ABSTRACT The Purpose of this Research is to examine 1) Legal construction of the Judicial Review of Parliamentary Threshold No. 44/PUUXV/2017 and No. 62/PUU-XXII/2024 on Judicial Restraint of Constitutional Court Judges in Indonesia and 2) Legal politics of the regulation and application of parliamentary thresholds in the Philippines. The Research Method was a literature review in the form of normative research, which employed the qualitative method. The research approach was in the form of legislation using the statute approach, namely Constitutional Court Decisions No. 44/PUUXV/2017 and No. 62/PUU-XXII/2024 on Parliamentary Thresholds. It applied the comparative approach by comparing the parliamentary thresholds of Indonesia and the Philippines. Then, it also employed the conceptual approach, namely the theory of legal politics, the theory of judicial restraint, and the theory of the independence of the judiciary and analytical tools. The Results of the Research found: 1). Legal political construction of the Judicial Review of Parliamentary Threshold No. 44/PUUXV/2017 and No. 62/PUU-XXII/2024 on the Judicial Restraint Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, namely: Constitutional limitation, policy limitation, doctrine limitation, and simplifying the multi-party system through the simplification of political parties, i.e., reducing the number of political parties. 2) Concerning the legal politics on the regulation and implementation of parliamentary threshold regulations in the Philippines, this country does not have a Constitutional Court. Thus, one cannot file a judicial review of election laws in the Philippines. Therefore, the Philippines is only subject to and obeys the regulations of the Philippine Constitution, which regulates the parliamentary threshold. Meanwhile, the implementation of the Philippine parliamentary threshold refers to the rules of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, which applies a parliamentary threshold of 20%, by dividing the total list of voters to obtain one seat in parliament. Study Application: In Judicial Restraint Law Politics of the Constitutional Court Against Parliamentary Threshold: Through Decision No. 62/PUU-XXII/2024, the Indonesian government carried out an open legal policy on the presidential threshold provision to remove the parliamentary threshold. The Constitutional Court judge argued that there was an imbalance between the older (larger) political parties and the newer (smaller) political parties. Thus, small parties could be allowed to nominate presidential candidates, which follows the principle of equality in democracy guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the judicial restraint law politics of the constitutional court against parliamentary threshold refers to the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, which is 20%. Usefulness of Research: First, academically, it is hoped that this research can become a reference for future research regarding the judicial restraint law of the constitutional court against bthe parliamentary threshold, a comparison between Indonesia and the Philippines. Second, practically, in the judicial restraint, the threshold of the Indonesian parliament, judges can provide considerations in making decisions without intervention from any party, so that they can uphold the dignity of Constitutional Court Judges and create just decisions. Then, the application of the Philippine parliamentary threshold must comply with the rules of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines. Hasil Penelitian menemukan: 1). Konstruksi politik hukum Perkara Judicial Review Parliamentary Threshold No. 44/PUUXV/2017 dan No. 62/PUU-XXII/2024 tentang Kekangan Hakim Mahkamah Konstitusi Republik Indonesia, yaitu: pembatasan konstitusional, pembatasan kebijakan, pembatasan doktrin, dan penyederhanaan sistem multipartai melalui penyederhanaan partai politik, yaitu pengurangan jumlah partai politik.
