Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in Indonesia continues to develop so that it is effective and relevant to the needs of the times. The priority of the PAI learning approach is to help students understand, internalize, and apply values ​​in everyday life. Jean Piaget's constructivist theory is an approach that is relevant to the phenomenon of PAI learning development. This study examines the relevance of Jean Piaget's constructivist philosophy to PAI in Indonesia. This study is a literature review that explores Piaget's constructivist concepts and their implementation in PAI using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, which involves three stages: planning, execution, and reporting. The findings indicate that Piaget's constructivist principles can be adapted in PAI in several ways: religious knowledge is actively and independently constructed by students, the focus in PAI is on the process rather than the outcome, PAI is student-centered, Islamic religious educators act as facilitators, a supportive environment for knowledge construction is built, and appropriate language is used in the material delivery process. The application of these principles in PAI can make students more active, creative, independent, critical, and innovative in their learning. Abstrak Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di Indonesia terus berkembang agar efektif dan relevan dengan kebutuhan zaman. Prioritas pendekatan pembelajaran PAI membawa peserta didik memahami, menginternalisasi, dan menerapkan nilai-nilai dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Teori konstruktivisme Jean Piaget sebagai salah satu pendekatan relevan dengan fenomena perkembangan pembelajaran PAI. Penelitian ini mengkaji relevansi pemikiran filsafat konstruktivisme Jean Piaget bagi PAI di Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan yang mengkaji konsep konstruktivisme Jean Piaget dan implementasinya dalam PAI dengan menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) yang melibatkan tiga tahapan: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan pelaporan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip konstruktivisme Jean Piaget dapat diadaptasi dalam PAI melalui beberapa cara, antara lain: pengetahuan tentang agama Islam dibangun secara aktif dan mandiri oleh peserta didik, menekankan proses dalam PAI daripada hasil, PAI berpusat pada peserta didik, pendidik agama Islam diposisikan sebagai fasilitator, membangun lingkungan yang mendukung konstruk pengetahuan, dan penggunaan bahasa yang tepat dalam penyampaian materi. Penerapan prinsip-prinsip ini dalam pembelajaran PAI dapat membuat peserta didik lebih aktif, kreatif, mandiri, kritis, dan inovatif dalam belajar.

Abstract

Purpose – The peace and stability of society are seriously threatened by youth radicalization, particularly in educational environments. This study examines how critical thinking, inclusion, and active student involvement in Student-Centered Learning (SCL) can prevent radicalization in Islamic junior schools in Indonesia and Bangladesh. Through problem-solving and open communication, SCL exposes students to a variety of viewpoints and fosters critical thinking, which lessens their vulnerability to extremist beliefs. Design/methods/approach – Employing qualitative techniques, such as teacher and student interviews, the research delves into the distinct implementation obstacles of SCL in each nation. Findings – Results show that although SCL promotes respect for one another and critical thinking, its efficacy is limited by a systemic dependence on conventional techniques, a lack of resources, and inadequate teacher preparation.  Research implications/limitations – The study emphasizes how important it is to have resources, support at the policy level, and professional development in order to adequately utilize SCL as a deterrent to radicalization. For educational policymakers and groups seeking to establish safe and welcoming learning environments in Bangladesh, Indonesia, and other comparable countries, these findings provide insightful information.

Abstract

This study analyzes the history of the formalization of Islamic sharia in Indonesia from the Islamic kingdom era to the reform era. The focus of the study includes how Islamic sharia was implemented in various periods, starting from the Islamic kingdom, colonial era, post-independence, New Order period, to post-reform. This research uses library research method with historical-critical analysis of books, academic journals, historical documents, laws and regulations, and previous research. The results show that the formalization of Islamic sharia has undergone various forms of adaptation and transformation. During the Islamic kingdom period, sharia was applied in criminal law and royal administration. In the colonial era, Islamic law was recognized in the family sphere through religious courts, although its jurisdiction was limited. The Japanese occupation saw formalization through the Shūmubu as a political tool. Post-independence, there was a debate between Islamic and nationalist groups over the basis of the state, followed by the DI/TII rebellion that sought to establish an Islamic state. In the New Order era, although Islamic political policies tended to be repressive, the 1990s saw the accommodation of Islamic law in the regulation of marriage, Islamic banking and zakat. Reform brought new opportunities with the emergence of sharia-based regional regulations along with decentralization. This study shows that the formalization of Islamic sharia in Indonesia is dynamic and influenced by political, social, and legal factors in each era.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in managing and regulating street vendors in Yogyakarta through the lens of the theory of istislah (public interest). The dynamic between efforts to maintain urban order and the protection of small-scale economic rights highlights the complexity of enforcement policies. The theory of istislah serves as a normative foundation to evaluate the extent to which these policies reflect principles of public welfare. The findings reveal that the current enforcement approach, which tends to be repressive, needs to be transformed into a more persuasive and participatory model. More human regulations and the active involvement of street vendors in the policymaking process are essential to achieve social justice and sustainable urban space governance. This study recommends a collaborative, welfare-oriented approach as a long-term solution for managing street vendors in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in the 21st-century education era is required to develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and the strengthening of students’ character. However, in practice, IRE learning is still dominated by conventional, teacher-centered approaches, resulting in learning that tends to be theoretical and less contextual. This article aims to describe the design of Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based Islamic Religious Education instruction, including its fundamental concepts, implementation stages, learning implications, and strategies for strengthening the PBL design in IRE learning.This study employs a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were collected from various scientific journals, academic books, and previous studies relevant to Islamic Religious Education and Problem-Based Learning. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data display, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the study indicate that a PBL-based IRE learning design can create active, contextual, and student-centered learning through the resolution of real-life problems related to theology (aqidah), Islamic ethics (akhlaq), jurisprudence (fiqh), and socio-religious life. The implementation of PBL in IRE learning contributes to improving critical thinking skills, social skills, collaboration abilities, as well as strengthening students’ religious character and religious moderation. In addition, strengthening the PBL design can be achieved through teacher training, integration of digital media, flexible learning time management, and reinforcement of values and character orientation in learning objectives and assessment. Thus, Problem-Based Learning can serve as a strategic alternative in creating IRE that is relevant to the demands of 21st-century education.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of Islamic philosophy, particularly Islamic ethics, as a philosophical framework for conflict resolution within contemporary societies that are increasingly pluralistic, complex, and vulnerable to social conflict. Rapid social transformation, technological advancement, globalization, and the increasing polarization of identities have contributed to the emergence of various forms of religious, ethnic, cultural, and ideological conflicts. In this context, the study aims to examine how Islamic philosophy can contribute to the prevention, resolution, and transformation of conflicts through ethical and philosophical approaches. This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, drawing upon both classical and contemporary literature related to Islamic philosophy, Islamic ethics, conflict resolution, and peace studies. The findings reveal that Islamic philosophy possesses rational, critical, spiritual, and humanistic characteristics capable of shaping wise individuals in responding to differences and social conflicts. Islamic ethics, which emphasizes the values of justice (‘adl), compassion (rahmah), tolerance (tasamuh), moderation (wasatiyyah), peace (sulh), and brotherhood (ukhuwwah), has proven to be highly relevant as a moral foundation for fostering reconciliation and social harmony. Furthermore, the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith provide important principles concerning mediation, dialogue, forgiveness, and respect for human dignity as essential mechanisms for conflict resolution.

Abstract

Poverty and unemployment remain major socio-economic challenges in Indonesia and continue to hinder national development and social welfare improvement. The relatively high rate of unemployment and poverty indicates that economic growth has not fully succeeded in creating equitable prosperity for all levels of society. In this context, cooperatives play a strategic role as people-based economic institutions that can empower communities, strengthen micro and small businesses, and create employment opportunities. This study aimed to analyze the role of cooperatives in reducing poverty and unemployment through entrepreneurship development in Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected from books, scientific journals, government reports, publications from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), and other relevant academic sources related to cooperatives, entrepreneurship, poverty, unemployment, and community economic empowerment. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify patterns and relationships between cooperatives and entrepreneurship development in reducing socio-economic problems. The findings revealed that cooperatives contribute significantly to poverty and unemployment reduction through entrepreneurship education, vocational training, business mentoring, and access to capital for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Cooperatives also encourage the emergence of new entrepreneurs, improve community productivity, and strengthen local economic resilience. Furthermore, cooperatives support inclusive and sustainable economic development by promoting democratic economic participation and social solidarity among community members. Therefore, strengthening cooperatives through supportive government policies, entrepreneurship education, and institutional innovation is essential for achieving sustainable economic development and improving social welfare in Indonesia.
