Abstract

Treatment using traditional medicine has become integrated into Indonesian society and is used to treat health problems through self-medication. Traditional medicine is a nation's cultural heritage that needs to continue to be preserved and developed to support health development. This research aims to find out how self-medication uses traditional medicine in the PKK Banjar Tegal Buah West Denpasar. This type of research is quantitative survey research with data collection techniques using questionnaires and using a Likert scale in conducting surveys with questionnaire measuring instruments. This research was conducted from April to May 2023. The population in this study were all PKK mothers who had carried out self-medication using traditional medicine and the sample in this study was 100 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire sheet with 20 questions. Based on the results of research on the level of knowledge of the use of traditional medicine in 100 PKK respondents with the criteria for a good level of knowledge, 88 people (88%) while 12 people (12%) of respondents were included in the sufficient category.

Abstract

Papaya fruit contains secondary metabolite compounds such as saponins. The secondary metabolites needed in soap production are saponins. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the addition of ethanol extract of papaya fruit (Carica papaya L.) with concentrations of 2.4 and 6% in solid soap preparations can produce good physical quality and to determine the difference between formula 0 (without extract) and formula I, II and III (with extract concentrations of 2, 4 and 6%) in the physical quality obtained. This research is an experimental study, starting with making extracts formulated into solid soap form with variations in extract concentrations of 2.4 and 6%. The soap produced is white in formula 0 and formula I with an aria fragrance aroma. In contrast, formula II is yellow and formula III is orange with the aroma of papaya fruit ethanol extract and in the four formulas obtained a solid preparation. The homogeneity test results on all formulas are homogeneous. The pH test results obtained the lowest pH value in formula II and formula III with a pH value of 9 while the highest pH value was obtained in formula 0 with a pH value of 11. The test results of the height and stability of the foam obtained the highest foam height in formula III (7.43 cm) with foam stability of 66.82% while the lowest foam height was obtained in formula 0 (6.23 cm) with foam stability of 78.59%. The results of the physical quality test show that the soap meets homogeneous criteria, pH ranges from 9-11, has a foam height of 1.3-22 cm and foam stability between 60-90% in accordance with the requirements of SNI No. 3532-2016.

Abstract

Liver damage can occur due to infection, viruses, drug use, and the environment. Paracetamol is a drug that has analgesic and antipyretic effects, but on the other hand the use of paracetamol in excessive doses (15/day) can cause liver damage. This can occur because the process of paracetamol metabolism in the liver forms a reactive metabolite known as N-acetyl-pbenzoquinonemine (NAPQI). The hepatoprotective mechanism can be seen from the ability of Ichnocarpus frutescens to ward off free radicals formed from the process of lipid oxidation due to the reactive metabolite of paracetamol, namely NAPQI. The method used is a literature review which is a systematic, explicit and reproducible method for carrying out identification, evaluation and synthesis of research works and ideas that have been produced by researchers and practitioners. The data base used is National and International Journal Websites such as Google Scholar.

Abstract

Betel leaf extract (Piper bettle L.) is known to contain flavonoid compounds that have antibacterial activity. Betel leaf extract needs to be formulated as a foot preparation lotion to increase the comfort of use as a topical antibacterial. The composition of the emulsifier influences the physical stability of the preparation foot lotion used. This study aims to determine the variation of stearic acid preparations foot lotion, which has good physical quality and is stable in storage. This research is purely experimental laboratory research that aims at development (development), namely developing something in an existing field (development of test methods, drug formulation). The observed responses were the physical quality of the preparations, which included organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, spreadability tests, and adhesion tests. The physical quality of preparations of foot lotion was analyzed descriptively. This research began with a maceration process using 70% ethanol to obtain a thick betel leaf extract (Piper bettle L.). This study made three preparation formulas with foot lotion with stearic acid concentrations of 10%, 12.5%, and 15%. The preparations that have been made are then tested for their physical quality and stability during four weeks of storage. The results of this study indicate that the preparations obtained foot lotion betel leaf ethanol extract (Piper bettle L.) with a variation of stearic acid of 10% to produce preparations of foot lotion with good physical quality seen from organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and adhesion and stable in storage for four weeks.

Abstract

Public knowledge about the use of plants as medicine is mostly limited to hereditary knowledge as a form of interaction between the community and the environment, especially plants. Currently medicinal plants or herbal plants have been widely used in the medical or health fields. Today's society prefers to use products that come from nature for safety reasons. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of the use of traditional medicine as an alternative treatment in the community of Bindu Tourism Village. The research method used is a descriptive survey method with a cross-sectional design where the research object is only observed once without any pre-test and post-test with data collection techniques using questionnaires distributed via online in Bindu Tourism Village. The data obtained from the research results were then processed by calculating the percentage of respondent answers. The results of the questionnaire data analysis obtained from 104 respondents showed that the people who had a good level of knowledge were 51 people (49%), 46 people (44%), and the level of knowledge in the poor category were 7 people (7%). The average value of knowledge from 104 respondents is 77% which is included in the range (76%-100%), so the level of knowledge of respondents is good.
