The Influence of Teachers’ Expectation and Principal’s Supportive Supervision on Teachers’ Performance Rofiq Faudy Akbar

Abstract

The study aimed to explain the teachers’ expectations and the principal’s supportive supervision on the teachers’ performance. It was also to reveal the mediation of supportive supervision variables between job expectation and teachers’ performance. The respondents included the private madrasa teachers in Kudus, Demak, and Jepara. The research produced several findings. First, madrasa teachers have an expectation regarding their job. The indicators included expectations for career opportunities (becoming a permanent employee/obtaining a permanent position, certification) and that madrasa will take some efforts to increase their well-being. Second, according to the teachers, the principal's supportive supervision included listening to the subordinates’ problems, motivating the subordinates, and providing positive feedback. Third, the measurement results indicated that expectation and supportive supervision influenced the teachers’ performance by 30%. Meanwhile, the rest 70% was by other variables outside the model used in the research. Fourth, the expectation has a significant effect on teacher performance through supervision support variables in the t-statistic 2.732 with a significance of 5%. The supportive supervision variable can mediate the relationship between expectation and teacher performance expectation significantly affected the teachers’ performance through supportive supervision with t-statistics score of 2,732 and 5% significance. Supportive supervision mediated the relation between expectation and teachers’ performance.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the intensity of gadget usage, the social behavior of students, and the influence of gadgets on the social behavior of students at MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah. The method employed is quantitative, with a non-experimental approach and the use of simple random sampling technique. The sample size consists of 75 respondents, and data collection is conducted through questionnaires. The results of this indicate that the data on gadget usage intensity yield percentages of 42% for respondents answering "always & often," 31% answering "sometimes," and 27% answering "never." Meanwhile, their social behavior obtains percentages of 55% for respondents answering "never," 26% answering "sometimes," and 19% answering "always & often." The obtained data testing result shows that the t-value is greater than the t-table (5.370 > 0.1914), where Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The coefficient of determination is 28.3%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the intensity of gadget usage at MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah is categorized as moderate, indicating that students can use these devices without difficulty. Regarding their social behavior at school, it depicts that they are not overly dependent on gadgets due to various factors preventing reliance on these devices. The influence of gadgets on the social behavior of students at MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah obtains a significance value of 28.3%, indicating a positive impact.

Abstract

Gender studies explain the differences in roles, positions, attitudes, behaviour, intelligence, and emotions between men and women. The concepts of study habits, adaptation, and academic assignments trigger differences in batches of students. On the other hand, the double burden students carry apart from academic interests can make students' achievement indexes fail to meet expectations. This triggers differences in intelligence and self-management based on the burden they carry. This research aims to determine whether there are differences in the self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index of Tadris IPS IAIN Kudus students in terms of gender, batch of students, and student burden status. This research uses a quantitative approach and a survey method. The results show differences in self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index based on gender. Women are taller than men. A review of the differences among the batch of students shows differences in self-efficacy and achievement index, while there is no difference in self-management. A review of student loads did not show differences in student self-efficacy, self-management, and achievement index. In conclusion, there are differences in gender, self-efficacy and achievement index based on the batch of students, but no differences in student status.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kecerdasan emosional dan ada tidaknya hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan hasil belajar ips peserta didik kelas VIII MTS Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Pucakwangi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini mencakup keseluruhan siswa kelas VIII MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah dengan Jumlah 88 peserta didik. Peneliti menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dimana pengambilan sampel secara acak atau random tanpa mempertimbangkan tingkatan populasi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner (angket) dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji kolmogorov-smirnov. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat kecerdasan emosional peserta didik kelas VIII MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah berada pada kategori sedang yang diperoleh dari pada pengkategorisasian variabel kecerdasan emosional sebesar 58% sebanyak 51 siswa. Hasil belajar IPS peserta didik kelas VIII MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah dalam kategori sedang dengan hasil sebesar 59% sebanyak 52 siswa dan kategori tinggi diperoleh 22% sebanyak 19 siswa, dan pada kategori rendah diperoleh 19% sebanyak 17 siswa. Data ini diperoleh berdasarkan nilai raport penilaian akhir semester (PAS) ganjil yang telah dilaksanakan. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan hasil belajar IPS peserta didik kelas VIII MTs Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Pucakwangi. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil analisis yang menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,800. Nilai tersebut termasuk dalam kategori “sangat kuat” karena dalam rentang 0,80 – 1000.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Islamic boarding school education model around Kudus. This study is based on knowledge of experience and community perceptions of life in the environment around the Islamic boarding school. It explores the contribution of Islamic boarding schools in shaping the character of the Kudus community. This type of research is field research, which is included in qualitative research. Namely, researchers go into the field to obtain data. Data collection techniques include observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects of this study were the caretakers and managers of Islamic boarding schools, as well as several student and community leaders in Islamic boarding schools around Kudus. Data analysis techniques include data collection, reduction, presentation, conclusion, and verification. The study results indicate that the Islamic boarding school education model around Kudus consists of three educational models, namely the Salafiyah Islamic boarding school model, the Khalafiyah Islamic boarding school model and the comprehensive Islamic boarding school model. The perception of the Kudus community on Islamic boarding schools consists of two perceptions: positive and negative. Moreover, Islamic boarding schools contribute to shaping the religious character of the people around Kudus. The findings are expected to contribute to academic knowledge for the community and provide references for other Islamic boarding schools to continue to strive to provide broad benefits to the community.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate 1) Implementing university governance at State Islamic Religious College (hereinafter abbreviated as PTKIN) on the north coast (Pantura) of Central Java, 2) Differences in organizational commitment, 3) The effect of establishing university governance on organizational commitment, and 4) Higher education's competitive advantage seen from implementing university governance and organizational commitment. This study employed a quantitative approach with a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The research results demonstrated that, first, the principles of university governance at PTKIN in Central Java, especially in Kudus, Semarang, and Pekalongan, have been effectively implemented. Second, the analysis test revealed no noteworthy difference in the organizational commitment among the PTKIN managers. Third, the university governance variable (X) influenced organizational commitment (Y). In other words, the better the university governance implementation, the higher the structural officials' organizational commitment. Fourth, for an organization to thrive and achieve exceptional performance, it must possess advantages beyond mere cost-based and product-based advantages. Despite some deficiencies, the implementation of university governance and organizational commitment exposed effectiveness and efficiency. As such, State Islamic Universities in these areas have the potential to develop and progress.

Abstract

This research aims to overcome the problems of class IX C IPS students by using the PBL model to discuss globalization. This classroom action research topic discusses constructivist learning theory. The research method uses qualitative research through primary and secondary data sources. The results of research on the PBL model at MTs Al-Falah can improve learning outcomes for social studies subjects in class IX C. The application of the problem-based learning model uses a projector as a tool, while PowerPoint and films are used as learning materials. In cycle I, the explanation and learning conditions using the PBL model were not optimal, and cycle II was able to carry out learning activities well.
