Abstract

The research was conducted to evaluate three different diets, P1 (grass and concentrate non palm oil by-product) representing farmers rearing cattle out of oil palm estate, P2 (grass, chopped palm oil frond, and concentrate based on palm oil by-product) representing farmers rearing cattle on oil palm estate which is grass is still available, and P3 (chopped palm oil frond and concentrate based on palm oil by-product) representing farmers rearing cattle on oil palm estate, grass is absent. The result showed that digestibility coefficient of dry matter of P1, P2, and P3 in respective order were 61.67%, 57.54%, and 50.05%. TDN values of P1, P2, and P3 were 61.04%, 57.58%, and 55.19% respectively. In addition, the average of dry matter intake of P1, P2, and P3 were 3.338 kg/head/day, 1.954 kg/head/day, and 1.310 kg/head/day. The average daily gain of P1, P2, and P3 were 0.46 kg/head/day (P1), 0.17 kg/head/day (P2), and 0.06 kg/head/day respectively. The utilization of feedstuffs from oil palm estate origin needs to be improved, especially on formulation. So that they could be expected to replace grass which is missing as the canopy of oil palm trees covering the land.   Keywords: palm kernel cake, palm oil frond, Bali cattle   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sumber daya yang tersedia diperkebunan dan pabrik pengolahan sawit sebagai pakan untuk produksi ternak sapi. Percobaan ini akan menguji 3 perlakuan pakan yang akan dicobakan pada sapi. Dua belas ekor sapi dibagi menjadi 3 perlakuan, masing-masing terdiri dari 4 ulangan untuk menguji 3 macam diet, yaitu P1 (Rumput+konsentrat), P2 (Rumput+pelepah+konsentrat), dan P3 (pelepah+konsentrat), menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Percobaan dilakukan selama 3 bulan. Peubah yang diamati adalah kandungan gizi dan energi untuk masing-masing perlakuan, rumput, pelepah sawit dan pakan konsentrat, palatabilitas, konsumsi dan kecernaan zat gizi pakan, serta perubahan berat ternak. Rerata koefisien cerna BK pakan P1, P2, dan P3 adalah 61,67%, 57,54%, dan 50,05%. Rerata nilai TDN pakan P1, P2, dan P3 berturut-turut adalah 61,04%, 57,58%, dan 55,19%. Rerata konsumsi bahan kering P1, P2, dan P3 berturut-turut adalah 3,338 kg/ekor/hari, 1,954 kg/ekor/hari, dan 1,310 kg/ekor/hari. Pertambahan berat badan sapi ini tercatat setara dengan 0,46 kg/ekor/hari (P1), 0,17 kg/ekor/hari (P2), dan 0,06 kg/ekor/hari. Penggunaan pakan berbasis kebun sawit dan limbah pabrik pengolahan sawit masih perlu diformulasikan lagi agar dapat memberikan tampilan yang setara dengan penggunaan rumput.   Kata kunci: bungkil inti sawit, pelepah sawit, sapi Bali.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the performance and nutritional content of Odot grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv Mott) harvested at different ages. Randomized Block Design consisting of 4 replicate groups of soil strata with 3 different cutting age treatments was used. The treatment groups were T1: 45 days after planting (DAP), T2: 60 DAP, and T3: 75 DAP. The parameters observed were the growth performance of Odot grass, including plant height (PH), number of leaves (NL), number of tillers (NT), dry matter production (DMP) and nutrient content. The results showed that PH, NL, NT, and DMP at 75 DAP were higher (P<0.05) than that at 45 DAP. Nutrient content did not differ (P>0.05) among treatments, except crude fat content (CF). It was concluded that the best cutting age was 75 DAP.   Key words: Odot, Production, Nutritional Composition   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaan dan kandungan zat gizi rumput Odot (Pennisetum purpureum cv Mott) yang dipanen pada umur berbeda. Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok ulangan strata tanah digunakan. Kelompok perlakuan adalah 45 hari  setelah tanam(HST) (P1), 60 HST (P2) dan 75 HST (P3). Parameter yang diamati adalah keragaan pertumbuhan rumput Odot, meliputi: jumlah daun (JD), jumlah anakan (JA), tinggi tanaman (TT), produksi bahan kering (PBK) dan kandungan zat gizi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan TT, JD, JA, dan PBK umur 75 HST lebih tinggi (P<0,05) dari pada umur 45 HST. Kandungan zat gizi tidak berbeda (P>0,05) kecuali kandungan lemak kasar (LK). Disimpulkan yang terbaik umur potong 75 HST.   Kata kunci: Odot, Produksi, Komposisi Nutrisi.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to evaluate diet consiting of grass and tofu dregs supplemented soybean hulls on its digestibilities and milk production of Anglo Nubian does. Three heads of Anglo Nubian does, aging 17-18 month old, first parity, early lactation used as experimental animals. Latin square design was applied on this experiment with 3 treatments and 3 periods. The treatments were P0 ( 5 kg grass+ 6 kg tofu dregs+ 20 g mineral diluted on 20 g rice bran) as a control, P1 (P0+ 300 g wet soybean hulls), and P2 (P0 + 600 g wet soybean hulls). Data collected were analysed of variance, continued by least signifcant difference test. Variables measured were nutrition contens of feeds, feeds consumption:  either grass, concentrates, or total consumption. The variables observed were the nutritional content of feed ingredients, nutrient consumption from forage and concentrates (tofu dregs and soybean hulls), and total nutrient consumption, as well as feed digestibility, and daily milk production. The experimental results showed that the average nutritional consumption of forage feed was not significantly different (P>0.05), the average nutritional consumption of concentrate feed was significantly different (P<0.05), increased by adding soybean hulls, but the total nutritional consumption of feed did not different (P>0.05). The average digestibility of feed nutrients was not significantly different (P>0.05), however the digestibility of crude fiber and nitrogen free extracts showed a decrease (P<0.05) with the addition of soybean hulls to the diet. The average daily milk production, P0 was 1699.29 ml/h/d, not significantly different (P>0.05) from P1, which was 1764.76 ml/h/d, but P2 milk production which was 1853.33 ml/h/d was significantly higher (P< 0.01) than P0 and P1. This research can be concluded that the addition of 600 g of wet soybean hulls to the diets on early lactation Anglo Nubian does may increase the average daily milk production

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of adding local lemon juice (Citrus limon) on Total Plate Count (TPC) and organoleptic in soft cheese, including color, texture, taste and preference for color, aroma/smell, texture and flavour. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using four treatments and 4 replications. Treatments differed by lemon juice concentration:  T1 (0%), T2 (2%), T3 (4%), T4 (6%). The observation variables are TPC and organoleptic. The research results show that adding local lemon juice significantly effects (P<0.01) on the TPC and Organoleptics of color, texture, taste, and preferences for color, aroma/aroma, texture and flavour. The highest mean TPC was obtained at T1 (0%) with a value of 4.08 x 108 cfu/g, and the lowest was at T4 (6%) with a value of 2.25 x 108 cfu/g.

Abstract

A variety of flavored yogurt has been widely known; however, adding fruit would impact the choice of this product.  In this experiment, some fruits, such as Ananas comosus and Cucumis melo had been supplemented in yogurt made from dairy goat milk.  This research used a completely randomized design 4 x 4, applying four treatments with four replications.  The treatments were FO: yogurt with no addition of fruit; FA: yogurt with 10% fruit Ananas; FC: yogurt with 10% fruit Cucumis; FM: yogurt with mixed addition of 5% fruit Ananas and 5% Cucumis. Data of sensory evaluation and pH were analyzed using Anova. Results showed no significant differences in color, odor and flavour among treatments. However, there was found the highest (P<0.05) score (3.30) on the texture of yogurt with C. melo.  On average, this yogurt and mixed fruit yogurt also showed high overall acceptability (2.65).  Yet, the Cucumis yogurt had high averages in TPC (2.8×107) and pH (5.72).  Cost production, in average, the mixed yogurt showed IDR 105,516 for 2,5 l (IDR 42,206 for 1 l yogurt).  It had IDR 5,790 difference from the one with no fruit yogurt.  In conclusion, yogurt with A. comosus had an optimal combination of sensory evaluation score, TPC, pH and cost production.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pemberian level ampas tahu terhadap deposisi lemak entok umur 10 minggu dengan campuran berupa pakan dengan level ampas tahu yang berbeda yaitu 30%, 35%, dan 40%. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri 4 perlakuan, yaitu P0 = 0%, P1 = 30%, P2 = 35% dan P3 = 40% menggunakan ampas tahu dengan level pemberian yang berbeda. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ampas tahu level 30%, 35% dan 40% berpengaruh nyata (P<0,01) terhadap lemak leher, lemak paha, lemak jantung, lemak gizzard, lemak abdomen dan lemak total. Dapat disimpulkan penggunaan ampas tahu sampai dengan level 40% menurunkan lemak leher, lemak paha, lemak gizzard, lemak jantung, lemak abdominal dan lemak total.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peforma anak kambing Anglo Nubian yang diberi susu pengganti. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 3 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Setiap ulangan terdiri 4 ekor anak kambing Anglo Nubian. Formulasi setiap perlakuan yaitu P1 anak kambing diberi susu kambing murni dan pakan padati, P2 anak kambing diberikan susu sapi murni dan pakan padat, P3 anak kambing diberi susu campuran formulasi 50% susu afkir dan 50% susu kambing murni dan pakan padat. Pakan padat berupa hijauan Indigofera dan ampas tahu.Penelitian berlangsung selama 8 minggu. Variabel yang diamati yaitu konsumsi susu, konsumsi hijauan dan konsentrat, pertambahan berat badan, pertambahan panjang badan ternak, pertambahan tinggi badan ternak dan pertambahan lingkar dada ternak. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata  pertambahan berat badan berkisar 4,31-6,02 kg/ekor, pertambahan panjang badan ternak berkisar 13,25-14,75 cm/ekor, pertambahan tinggi badan ternak berkisar 8,25-9,75 cm/ekor dan pertambahan lingkar dada ternak berkisar 8,50-12,50 cm/ekor. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa performa anak kambing Anglo Nubian prasapih yang diberi susu pengganti sama dengan yang diberi susu induk.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to evaluate the performance, carcass quality, and the percentage of organs in ducks, Manila duck and tiktok. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 6 replications in each treatment. The three species used as treatments were Mojosari duck, Manila duck and tiktok. At 2 weeks of age, each species was kept in individual battery cages until 10 weeks of age. The feed used contained 18% protein and 2992 kcal/kg energy. After 10 weeks of age, 6 samples were taken from each treatment for data collection. The variables measured were the percentage of carcass and carcass parts, meat bone ratio, percentage of internal organs, abdominal fat, breast meat protein, breast meat fat, breast meat cholesterol, coocking loss and drip loss. The results showed that species had no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed intake and coocking loss, but had significantly (P<0.05) effect on weight gain, feed conversion ratio, carcass percentage and carcass parts, meat bone ratio, abdominal fat, breast fat, breast meat cholesterol, percentage of internal organs and drip loss. It can be concluded that the performance of Manila ducks was better than Mojosari ducks and tiktok. The carcass percentage and drip loss of tiktok was higher than Manila ducks and Mojosari ducks. Manila ducks contained lower abdominal fat, meat fat and cholesterol, but relatively contained the same meat protein.Key words: Performance, carcass quality, fat, cholesterol, Mojosari duck, Manila duck, tiktokABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi performa, kualitas karkas, dan persentase organ dalam Itik, Entok dan Tiktok. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan pada setiap perlakuan. Tiga spesies yang digunakan sebagai perlakuan adalah Itik Mojosari, Entok dan Tiktok. Pada umur 2 minggu, masing-masing spesies dipelihara pada kandang batterai individu sampai umur 10 minggu untuk diambil data performanya. Pakan yang digunakan mengandung protein 18 % dan energi 2992 kkal/kg. Setelah umur 10 minggu, masing-masing perlakuan diambil sampel sebanyak 6 ekor untuk pengambilan data persentase karkas dan bagian-bagian karkas, meat bone ratio (MBR), persentase organ dalam, lemak abdomen, protein daging dada, lemak daging dada, cholesterol daging dada, coocking loss dan drip loss. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa spesies berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi ransum, dan coocking loss, tetapi berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap pertambahan berat badan, konversi ransum, persentase karkas dan bagian-bagian karkas, MBR, lemak abdomen, lemak daging dada, cholesterol daging dada, persentase organ dalam dan drip loss. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa performa Entok lebih baik dibanding Itik dan Tiktok. Persentase karkas dan drip loss Tiktok lebih tinggi dibanding Itik dan Entok. Entok mengandung lemak abdominal, lemak daging dan kolesterol daging yang lebih rendah, tetapi mengandung protein daging relative sama dengan Itik dan Tiktok.Kata kunci: Performa, mutu karkas, lemak, cholesterol, itik, entok, tiktok

Abstract

Objective of this research was to evaluate diet containing concentrate at different level of solid material ex decanter (SMD) of palm oil mill on performance Anglo Nubian buckling. This research was conducted at Commercial Zone and Animal Laboratory, University of Bengkulu. Latin Square Experimental Design was used, with 4 treatments: P0 (100% tofu waste), P1 (75% tofu waste+25% SMD), P2 (50% tofu waste+50% SMD), and P3 (75% SMD). Variables measured were gain, height, length, chest, and feed intake. The result showed that there were no different effect (P>0.05) on intake of grass DM, grass OM, grass CP, total DM and total OM. Nevertheless,  treatments affect intake of concentrate DM,  concentrate OM, concentrate CP, and total CP. Average daily gain, height, length, and chest measured were no different effect (P>0.05). It can be concluded that solid material ex decanter of palm oil mill may be used as part of concentrate.   Key words: Nubian goat, performance, tofu dregs, solid material ex decanter   ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan Lumpur minyak sawit (solid material ex decanter) dalam konsentrat terhadap performa kambing Nubian jantan muda. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Commercial Zone and Animal Laboratorium (CZAL) Jurusan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Bengkulu.Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan bujur sangkar latin (RBSL) dengan 4 perlakuan pakan konsentrat dengan level yang berbeda, yaitu P0 (Ampas tahu 100%), P1 (Ampas tahu 75% + LMS 25%), P2(Ampas tahu 50% + LMS 50%), dan P3 (Ampas tahu 25% + LMS 75%). Ternak yang digunakan sebanyak 4 ekor kambing Anglo Nubian  jantan berumur 10 bulan dengan berat 36,3 +/- 0,9 kg. Variabel yang diamati adalah (1) Pertambahan Berat Badan (2) Panjang badan (3) Lingkar dada (4) Tinggi badan (5) Konsumsi pakan dan nutrisi (BK, BO, PK) (6) Suhu dan kelembaban lingkungan. Analisis data menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA), jika perlakuan berpengaruh nyata akan dilanjutkan dengan uji Least Significance Different (LSD). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pengunaan LMS berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap BK hijauan, BO hijauan, PK hijauan, konsumsi BK total, dan BO total. Analisis varian, menunjukan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi BK konsentrat, BO konsentrat, PK konsentrat dan PK total. Sedangkan pada pertambahan berat badan, panjang badan, tinggi badan, dan lingkar dada menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05). Pengunaan LMS dapat diterapkan, namun dalam jangka panjang mungkin akan memberikan dampak penurunan terhadap pertumbuhan kambing Anglo Nubian jantan muda.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate palm fronds as a source of fiber feed which was supplemented with block concentrate feed with different formulas and palm oil administration to Bali heifers. The block concentrate feed used was the main ingredient of palm oil sludge and palm kernel cake (block A) and palm oil sludge and soybean flour (block B). This factorial experiment presented 4 treatment combinations applied to livestock. Eight Bali heifers were divided into 4 treatments, each consisting of 2 replications to test 4 types of treatment, namely P1 (with palm oil + Block A), P2 (without palm oil + Block A), P3 (with palm oil + Block B), and P4 (without palm oil + Block B). The experiment was carried out for 10 weeks. The results showed that there was no difference between the treatments that were given palm oil and those that were not given palm oil. Likewise, there was no difference between feed block formula A and B. Provision of fresh fronds in the field will be more practical to apply, without using palm oil. Likewise, the source of protein from palm kernel meal is preferable to using soybean meal.   Key words: Palm Oil Frond, Palm Oil Sludge, Palm Kernel Cake   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pelepah sawit sebagai sumber pakan serat yang disuplementasi dengan pakan konsentrat blok dengan formula  berbeda dan pemberian minyak sawit pada sapi Bali dara. Pakan Konsentrat Blok yang dipakai menggunakan bahan utama lumpur minyak sawit dan bungkil inti sawit (blok A) dan lumpur minyak sawit dan tepung kedelai (blok B). Percobaan faktorial ini  menyajikan 4 kombinasi perlakuan yang diterapkan  pada ternak. Delapan ekor sapi Bali dara dibagi menjadi 4 perlakuan, masing-masing terdiri dari 2 ulangan untuk menguji 4 macam perlakuan, yaitu P1 (diberi minyak sawit+Blok A), P2 (tanpa minyak sawit+Blok A), P3 (diberi minyak sawit+Blok B), dan P4 (tanpa minyak sawit+Blok B). Percobaan dilakukan selama 10 minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan antara perlakuan yang diberi minyak sawit dan yang tidak diberi minyak sawit. Demikian juga tidak ada perbedaan antara formula blok pakan A dan B. Pemberian pelepah segar di lapangan akan lebih praktis diaplikasikan, tanpa menggunakan minyak sawit.
