Abstract

One of the welding methods that is widely used is the SMAW welding process (Shield Metal Arc Welding) which is also called Electric Arc Welding. This research aims to analyze the effect of variations in cooling media on tensile test results on welding results of S45C steel material. This research uses S45C material. The material is subjected to single vee joint welding, where at the completion of welding the material is immersed in a cooling medium of oil, water, air and is not treated in this research. From the research results, it can be concluded that the highest ultimate tensile strength (Tu) value is when the material is cooled with oil media, where the highest value is 517.15 N/mm2, followed by air cooling media, where the highest value is amounted to 475.85 N/mm2, and the lowest was with water cooling media where the highest value was 455.50 N/mm2. Thus, cooling with oil as a medium is the best between the two cooling media, water and air.

Abstract

Pengelasan juga dapat diartikan sebagai proses penyatuan logam yang terjadi akibat adanya panas baik ada atau tidaknya pengaruh tekanan DIN (Deutsche Industrie Normen). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui manakah yang lebih baik material hardox steel 450 dibandingkan dengan mild steel dalam hal uji tarik tegangan yield (ty) N/mm2 dan tegangan ultimate (tu) N/mm2 pada pengelasan SMAW. Metode penetian yang digunakan adalah metode eksprimen, dengan masing material diuji 5 spesimen. Hasil penelitan menunjukkan bahwa Tegangan Yield (ty) N/mm2 nilainya lebih besar pada setiap sample hardox steel 450 adalah 519,92 N/mm2, 512,23 N/mm2, 513,45 N/mm2, 512.45 N/mm2, dan 512,33 N/mm2, dibandingkan dengan mild steel hanya 387,09 N/mm2 385,11 N/m2, 392,22 N/mm2, 388,32 N/mm2, dan 389,65 N/mm2. Begitu juga dengan tegangan ultimate (tu) N/mm2 material hardox steel 450 lebih besar nilainya 613,55 N/mm2, 615,43 N/mm2, 613,46 N/mm2, 612,45 N/mm2, dan 612,33 N/mm2, lebih besar dibandingkan dengan mild steel dengan nilai 415,09 N/mm2, 425,15 N/mm2, 412,52 N/mm2, 418,32 N/mm2, dan 419,65 N/mm2. Hal ini dikarenakan material hardox 450 jauh lebih kuat dibandingkan dengan mild steel, hardox steel memiliki proses quenching dan tempering yang dikontrol dengan hati-hati di pabrik baja, selain itu material hardox dikeraskan secara menyeluruh. Kekerasan inti minimum adalah 90 % dari kekerasan permukaan minimum yang dijamin.

Abstract

Masalah yang dihadapi oleh petani di Desa Nogo Rejo adalah mahalnya harga pupukkimia. Pupuk bersubsidi sangat terbatas, sehingga diperlukan alternatif penggantipupuk kimia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan petani sekaligus mengurangi ketergantunganpada penggunaan pupuk kimia. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihantentang proses pembuatan pupuk organik dan memberikan bantuan mesin granuluntuk membuat pupuk organik dari bahan baku limbah pertanian dan peternakan yangtersedia di Dusun 7, Desa Nogo Rejo. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) inidiharapkan agar mitra bersama petani dapat memanfaatkan sisa pertanian danpeternakan menjadi pupuk organik butiran yang berkualitas dengan menggunakanmesin granul, sehingga ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia dapat dikurangi danketersediaan pupuk organik butiran yang murah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan petanidapat terpenuhi melalui mitra UD. Bina Usaha.

Abstract

Penyediaan air bersih memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kesehatanlingkungan dan kualitas hidup masyarakat. Namun, hingga saat ini, penyediaan airbersih masih menghadapi tantangan yang kompleks, terutama di daerah pantai, tanahrawa, tanah gambut, pinggiran sungai, dan kawasan dengan parit pembuangan limbah.Masyarakat di Lingkungan VIII, Kelurahan Gading, Kecamatan Datuk Bandar, TanjungBalai, menghadapi kondisi air yang tidak layak konsumsi karena keruh, payau, danberbau. Selain kebutuhan sehari-hari, Musholla Istiqomah yang berada di kawasantersebut juga membutuhkan air bersih. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, dilakukankegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dengan tujuan menyediakan instalasi penyaringan airbersih menggunakan teknologi filtrasi. Hasilnya, telah terpasang satu unit instalasipenyaringan air yang mampu menghasilkan air bersih layak konsumsi untuk memenuhikebutuhan Musholla Istiqomah dan masyarakat setempat.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) on the bending strength of raw materials and welding joints using SMAW and GMAW welding methods. Tests were conducted on root and face bends to compare bending strength before and after PWHT treatment. The test results show that in the root bend area, the base material without PWHT has a bending strength of 3983.16 MPa, while in SMAW and GMAW welding, the bending strength is 3788.39 MPa and 2695.96 MPa, respectively. After PWHT was applied, the bending strength of the base material increased to 4739.76 MPa, while that of SMAW and GMAW welding increased to 4131.62 MPa and 5193.39 MPa, respectively. In the face bend area, the base material without PWHT showed a bending strength of 3077.70 MPa, with SMAW and GMAW welding producing bending strengths of 2654.28 MPa and 2259.32 MPa, respectively. After PWHT, the bending strength of the base material increased to 3289.05 MPa, while SMAW and GMAW welding recorded 2641.47 MPa and 3498.07 MPa, respectively. This study's results indicate that PWHT significantly improves bending strength, especially in the base material and weld joints in the root bend area.

Abstract

Dusun I Timur Karang Anyar Village Karang Anyar District Beringin Deli Serdang is one of the hamlets where goat breeders still use conventional methods in processing their feed. To provide feed for their goats, farmers have to grind elephant grass, cassava leaves and other forages that grow around the farm site or sometimes from nearby villages. This is quite energy and time consuming for the farmer. If the feed can be stocked for a long period of time, the effectiveness of the farmer's work will be higher. The purpose of this program is to apply appropriate technology to goat farmer groups in processing feed sources by mechanically processing through modernization of livestock with multipurpose animal feed chopping machines, increasing efficiency in the use of goat feed and time effectiveness for raising livestock. This service method is by making a chopping machine for goats that is tailored to the needs of partners and training partners on how to operate and maintain the chopper. With this activity, it is hoped that the efficiency of the use of animal feed and the effectiveness of maintenance time can be increased.

Abstract

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Medan State Polytechnic (POLMED) has international standard welding practice and laboratory equipment. In line with the progress of this equipment, quite a number of teaching staff in this study program already have teaching certificates in the field of welding. The socialization of welding in this study program has received recognition from the Professional Institute International Welding (IIW) and The Welding Institute (TWI), so that the Mechanical Engineering Department has become a Competency Test Site (TUK) for IIW and TWI international certification. The proponent of this international standard welding defect recognition training program already has a CSWIP (Certificate Scheme Welding Inspection Personnel) 3.0 certificate from The Welding Institute. LPK IMMANUEL MEDAN has a Welding course training field, this is related to making vehicle frames (chassis body). Participants who take part in this program have good achievements and are prepared to enter the world of work after being declared graduated with proof of a certificate. It is very reasonable for LPK IMMANUEL MEDAN to accept the offer of an international standard welding defect identification training program held by a lecturer from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Medan State Polytechnic (POLMED). especially to hold welding inspection socialization based on TWI standards. This knowledge will prepare prospective LPK Immanuel graduates to enter jobs in the welding field. This program is very relevant to the adult world of work. With this training, LPK participants will gain insight into how welding results meet the TWI standard, which is a standard that is widely used in the international world. This is supported by experienced and certified lecturers who carry out the service above in the CSWIP 3.0 (welding inspector) training in the use of the welding gauge which will be donated to the LPK Immanuel. Through this program, welding inspection modules and welding gauges have also been donated so that LPK participants can use them in the future
