Abstract

Hypertension as a public health problem and identified as a major risk factor for morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases, especially stroke and chronic kidney disease and becomes an economic and social burden. One of the efforts to regulate diet patterns is very important in fulfilling nutrition as a hypertension controller. Lifestyle changes as one of the management of hypertension, therefore it is necessary to make efforts to help control hypertension by choosing a DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet pattern. This study was to determine changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertension patients after implementing the DASH diet. The results of this study are expected to be used as a guideline for how important it is that the DASH diet is an effective action in controlling blood pressure in hypertension patients. The study used a quasi-experimental study with a pre-post study, namely providing education to hypertension patients and family members as companions using a leaflet model containing the DASH diet. The assessment was carried out after the first 6 days and the second 6 days to determine changes in blood pressure using a tensiometer. The results of the study showed a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertension patients after the intervention. The analysis of differences showed a significant difference in the average value of blood pressure reduction in those who followed the DASH diet. This study is in line with previous studies where the DASH Diet is quite effective in controlling high blood pressure (hypertension). Conclusion: The DASH Diet is a diet that has been recommended by WHO as a diet to control hypertension and has been proven to significantly lower blood pressure.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) is an injectable contraceptive method that is widely used in Indonesia and has the side effect of increasing the blood lipid profile. Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk. leaf has been proven to have benefits in controlling blood lipid levels. However, in previous research, giving Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk. leaves was mostly done only on experimental animals. It is important to measure changes in blood lipid levels of cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides after consuming guazuma ulmifolia lamk leaf in DMPA acceptor. Methods: Quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design, with 48 respondents using purposive sampling. The intervention was carried out for 10 days routinely, twice a day, by giving 2 grams of Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk leaf tea. Analyse data of cholesterol levels and HDL levels using the T-test, while LDL and triglyceride levels using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Results: There was a decrease in cholesterol levels (p-value = <0.001) and a decrease in LDL levels (p-value = <0.001), but it was not proven to increase HDL levels (p-value = 0.185) and decrease triglyceride levels (p-value = 0.353). Conclusion: Giving guazuma ulmifolia lamk leaf tea was effective in decreasing cholesterol levels and decreasing LDL levels of DMPA acceptors. It is hoped that health workers can provide guazuma ulmifolia lamk leaf tea as an alternative or additional medicine to reduce cholesterol levels due to the side effects of DMPA injections.

Abstract

Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement is one of the global efforts from various countries to strengthen commitments and action plans to accelerate nutrition improvement, especially nutrition management from 1,000 days from pregnancy to 2 years old. Breastfeeding for toddlers are related to the incidence of stunting. Efforts that can be made to increase knowledge by providing counseling on exclusive breastfeeding using interactive media (leaflets). Objective: This study aims to determine the effect leaflet on increasing the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women in exclusive breastfeeding to prevent stunting. Method: This study used one group pretest and posttest design, samples are pregnant women in the Bandengan Village with nonprobability sampling techniques, totaling 30 mothers. Data were collected using questionnaires, analyzed with Wilcoxon Test on knowledge variables and t-tests on attitude variables. Results: There is an effect of leaflets media on increasing the knowledge of pregnant women in exclusive breastfeeding (p-value of 0.000 < 0,05, the mean value is 9.70 to 15.33) and the increase in attitude ( p-value of 0.006 < 0,05, the mean value is 23.13 to 24.07). Conclusions: Leaflet is proven to be able to improve the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women in exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is 24.4%, which is higher than the WHO average of 20%. One of the efforts that can be made to reduce stunting rates is the early detection of stunting in infants. An interactive e-booklet media called Busita was developed to provide practical early detection tools. The aim was to develop an interactive electronic booklet that provides content from the Busita module. The research method used in this study was Research and Development (R&D). Validity testing was conducted using a group of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), determined by the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), and the USE Questionnaire for the media validated by five experts. The Busita module contains all essential materials inside, as proven by CVR and CVI values between 0 and 1, with an average of 0.8, which can be interpreted as very good and important. The interactive e-booklet Busita media obtained a feasibility assessment through expert validation with an average score of 84.09, covering four aspects of assessment: usefulness, ease of use, ease of learning, and satisfaction. This research also involved five cadres in a pilot study, and the results of the dependent t-test showed a p-value of <0.05. The module and the media have been shown to measure knowledge, attitude, and practice in the early detection of infant stunting.
