Abstract

This study aims to compare the use of eyelash glue and eye cream as an eyeshadow base in bridal makeup with long gowns, based on evaluation indicators of surface smoothness, color sharpness, durability, and panelist preference. The research employs an experimental method with a one-shot case study design. The sample consisted of 6 people, 3 of whom were given the treatment of using eyelash glue as an eyeshadow base, and 3 were given eye cream as an eyeshadow base. The sampling technique used was purposive random sampling. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed no significant difference in surface smoothness using eyelash glue and eye cream as an eyeshadow base with a p-value of 0.336 (p>0.05). There was no significant difference in color sharpness using eyelash glue and eye cream as an eyeshadow base with a p-value of 0.294 (p>0.05). However, there was a significant difference in durability using eyelash glue and eye cream as an eyeshadow base with a p-value of 0.013 (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in panelist preference for using eyelash glue and eye cream as an eyeshadow base with a p-value of 0.051 (p>0.05).For bridal makeup with long gowns, it is recommended to use eyelash glue as an eyeshadow base due to its better durability compared to eye cream, lasting 5-7 hours.

Abstract

This research is motivated because self-confidence in using skincare products recommended by celebrity endorsers is also an important factor in purchasing decisions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of celebrity endorser Tasya Farasya and Instagram social commerce on the purchase decision of the Originote skincare moisturizer on female students of the FPP UNP Makeup and Beauty Education Study Program. This type of research is Ex post Facto with a quantitative research method approach. The population of this study were female students of the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 Makeup and Beauty Education Study Program, namely 365 people. The type of sampling used in this study was non-probability with a purposive sampling technique with a total of 78 people. Data were collected through observation methods and research questionnaires. The preparation of the instrument was carried out by sorting the Likert scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, normality tests and hypothesis tests. The results of the study obtained 1) Instagram social commerce partially has a significant effect on Moisturizer Purchase Interest in Female Students of the FPP UNP Makeup and Beauty Study Program. 2) Celebrity endorser Tasya Farasya partially has a significant effect on the Moisturizer Purchase Interest of Female Students of the Makeup and Beauty Study Program, FPP UNP. 3) Celebrity Endorser Tasya Farasya and Social Commerce Instagram simultaneously influence the purchase decision of the Originote skincare moisturizer for female students of the Makeup and Beauty Education Study Program, FPP UNP. Suggestions to increase insight into the material in the lesson for students, in increasing knowledge and information about the influence of celebrity endorser Tasya Farasya Instagram social media on the purchase decision of the Originote skincare moisturizer for female students of the Makeup and Beauty Education Study Program, FPP UNP.

Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 menyebabkan dampak signifikan terhadap perekonomian masyarakat, terutama di Nagari Rao-Rao, Kecamatan Sungai Tarab, Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat marginal adalah dengan memberikan pelatihan keterampilan agar mereka dapat membuka peluang usaha mandiri. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan keterampilan Make-up Bold dan Hair Cutting kepada 20 peserta dari kelompok masyarakat marginal di Nagari Rao-Rao. Metode pelatihan dilakukan melalui pendekatan teori, praktik langsung, serta pendampingan dalam penggunaan media sosial untuk promosi jasa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam bidang Make-up Bold dan Hair Cutting. Selain itu, peserta juga diberikan wawasan tentang strategi pemasaran digital guna mendukung usaha mereka. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan taraf ekonomi masyarakat melalui kewirausahaan di bidang jasa kecantikan

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward the selection of hair care cosmetics among students of the Cosmetology and Beauty Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which students’ level of knowledge is related to their attitude in choosing appropriate and safe hair care cosmetic products. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed to 78 students from the 2023 academic cohort. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 20. The results show that both the level of knowledge and the attitude of students are categorized as very good. The regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.009 (< 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude. The regression coefficient of 0.328 suggests that each unit increase in knowledge contributes positively to students’ attitudes in selecting hair care cosmetics. These findings emphasize the importance of cosmetic education in encouraging students to develop a more selective and thoughtful approach when choosing products that are suitable and safe.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi belum adanya penelitian yang membandingkan hasil pengeritingan menggunakan metode Rotto Digital Perm dan Rotto Cold Perm dalam menghasilkan hasil pengeritingan rambut yang optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efektivitas kedua metode tersebut dalam menghasilkan ikal rambut ditinjau dari kerapian pola ikal, kelembutan rambut, kilau, volume ikal, dan bentuk rambut secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Subjek penelitian adalah individu dengan jenis rambut tebal, lurus, dan normal yang menjalani proses pengeritingan menggunakan kedua metode, yaitu Rotto Digital Perm dan Rotto Cold Perm. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi dan rubrik penilaian berbasis skala Likert untuk mengevaluasi hasil pengeritingan rambut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Rotto Digital Perm menghasilkan ikal yang lebih alami, berkilau, lembut, dan dan bervolume dibandingkan dengan metode Rotto Cold Perm. Sementara itu, metode Rotto Cold Perm menghasilkan ikal yang lebih tegas dan padat, namun cenderung mengurangi kelembutan dan kilau rambut. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua metode tersebut dalam hal kualitas ikal dan kondisi rambut setelah pengeritingan (sig. < 0,05), yang berarti bahwa H₁ diterima. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode Rotto Digital Perm lebih efektif untuk menghasilkan ikal rambut dan memiliki nilai estetika tinggi pada jenis rambut tebal dan normal.

Abstract

Chinese betel leaf extract (Peperomia et al.) contains active compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins that can potentially be antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory and can be used as a hair care ingredient, especially to treat dandruff. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of Chinese betel leaf extract and its formulation on the characteristics of pH, foaming power, organoleptic and hedonic tests on the resulting shampoo products. Three shampoo formulations were made with variations in extract concentrations, namely 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%, and were tested for pH, foam, organoleptic test (colour, texture, and aroma), and hedonic test (preference level). The results showed that the increase in Chinese betel leaf extract concentration tended to decrease the foaming power but produced a pH close to the ideal range for shampoo, which is 4.5-6.5. Organoleptic tests showed that the panellists accepted all formulations, although formulations with higher concentrations of extracts (1%) resulted in more robust aromas and darker colours. Hedonic tests showed that formulations with 0.75% Chinese betel leaf extract were the most preferred, with the highest aroma, colour, and texture scores. Overall, shampoo formulations with Chinese betel leaf extract have great potential to develop effective and environmentally friendly anti-dandruff products. However, further adjustments may be necessary to improve the lather's power without compromising its therapeutic benefits.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of the halal SPA tourism concept in salons and SPAs in Padang City, amidst the growing halal tourism sector that emphasizes Islamic values. The purpose of this research is to describe the application of product, service, and management aspects based on halal standards. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, employing observation, interviews, and documentation methods across 10 salons and SPAs. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion techniques. The results show that most salons and SPAs have begun to implement the halal tourism concept, including separate treatment rooms, the use of certified halal products, and the provision of prayer facilities. Muslimah Beauty Care stands out with its Islamic prayer books and magazines, while OK SPA and Beauty Lounge have adopted Islamic SOPs, including greetings and prayers. However, there are still inconsistencies in implementation, particularly in uniformity of Islamic dress for staff and product halal certification. Overall, salons and SPAs in Padang are making efforts to follow the halal tourism concept but require improvement in implementation to meet optimal standards.
