Abstract

This research was motivated by knowing the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model on the ability to identify life values in Phase F XI high school students' short stories. Research purposes . First, describe the ability to identify life values in Phase F XI students' short stories before using the Discovery Learning learning model. Second, to describe the ability to identify life values in Phase F XI high school students' short stories after using the Discovery Learning learning model. Third, describe the effectiveness of using the Discovery Learning learning model on the ability to identify life values in Phase F XI high school students' short stories. Type of experimental quantitative research. The research population was students of Phase F This research data is in the form of test scores for the ability to identify life values in short stories before and after using the Discovery Learning learning model through objective tests. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that there was effectiveness in using the Discovery Learning model on the ability to identify life values in the short stories of Stage F XI students at SMA Negeri 7 Padang before and after using the Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles for students is not as easy as writing free articles. The most basic thing in writing scientific articles is not only grammar but also the systematics of writing. A writer should pay attention to good and correct writing in accordance with Enhanced Spelling (EYD). This study aims to find out Indonesian spelling errors in scientific articles for students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program Class of 2019 at PGRI University, West Sumatra. This is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The data collection technique used is a documentary study technique. The data were obtained from document analysis, namely Indonesian spelling errors in student scientific articles. The use of documentary study techniques in this study was assisted by instruments in the form of data recording cards, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with verification. The data was analyzed by noting Indonesian spelling errors and selecting each incoming piece of data from the documentation, then processing and focusing all the raw data to make it more meaningful. The results showed that these errors were found in (a) the use of italics and capital letters, and (b) writing errors. (c) errors in the use of punctuation marks (d) errors in writing absorption elements; (e) errors in the systematics of writing scientific articles in the form of errors in writing the title; (f) mistakes in writing abstracts and keywords (g) mistakes in writing the introductory part (h). mistakes in writing the main part (results and discussion) (i). mistakes in writing the closing part (conclusion) (j). Error in writing the reference list.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the Effect of the Example Non Example Method on Learning to Write Exposition Text for Class X Students of SMA N 1 Gumanti Valley. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The population of this study is grade X students of SMA N 1 Lembah Gumanti who are enrolled in the 2022/2023 school year totaling 256 students. The sample of this study was students of class XE6 as a control class and XE7 as an experimental class. The data in this study is the performance score of the ability to write exposition text for grade X students of SMA N 1 Gumanti Valley without and using the Example Non Example Method. The results of this study based on data analysis are that there is a significant influence of the use of the example non example method on the ability to write exposition texts for grade X students of SMA N 1 Gumanti Valley because the tcount > ttable (6.48>1.67), so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan sebagai berikut ini. Pertama, siswa masih sulit dalam mengembangkan ide-ide dalam menulis. Kedua, siswa masih sulit memahami proses kejadian yang terdapat dalam struktur teks eksplanasi. Ketiga, siswa masih kurang memperhatikan struktu kalimat dan tanda baca dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) terhadap keterampilan menulis teks Teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukoMuko. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini adalah One Group Pretes-Posttest Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukOMuko. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukOMuko yang berjumlah 25 orang. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah skor keterampilan menulis teks Teks eksplanasi Sebelum dan Sesudah menggunakan Model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukoMuko . Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut ini. Pertama, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukoMuko sebelum menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) diperoleh nilai rata-rata hitung 68,66 berada pada rentangan nilai 66-75% dengan kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LdC). Kedua, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukoMuko sesudah menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) diperoleh nilai rata-rata 77,16 berada pada rentangan nilai 76-85% dengan kualifikasi Baik (B). Ketiga, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA N 03 MukoMuko berdasarkan hasil pengujian yang membuktikan bahwa thitung> dari ttabel yaitu 5,48 1,71.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Group-Discovery Learning Model on students’ communicative identity and the development of essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This model is rooted in constructivist principles and encourages active learning through peer interaction, problem-solving tasks, and self-directed inquiry. Employing a quasi-experimental design, data were collected from 104 high school students across two schools in Padang who participated in either experimental or control classes. A validated performance-based assessment instrument was used to measure student outcomes across multiple dimensions of skill development. The results revealed significant improvements in 21st-century skills among students in the experimental group, with average post-treatment scores of 84.3 and 84.8, indicating a positive effect of the model. The normalized gain (N-Gain) scores showed medium effects (0.51 and 0.45), demonstrating measurable progress over four sessions. No significant interaction was found between the school category and the model's effectiveness, suggesting its potential adaptability across diverse educational settings. These findings support the Group-Discovery Learning Model as an effective approach for enhancing both cognitive and social competencies essential for modern learners. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges remain, particularly in developing higher-order critical thinking skills such as evaluating peer arguments and synthesizing complex ideas. This suggests that while the model fosters collaborative learning and engagement, additional scaffolding may be required to strengthen analytical reasoning. The study recommends integrating digital tools into the model to enrich collaborative learning experiences and reinforce students’ evolving communicative identities in contemporary language education.

Abstract

Berdasarkan analisis situasi, permasalahan mitra adalah siswa kelas IX di SMP N 1 Batang Anai cenderung kesulitan dalam menuangkan ide serta gagasan kreatif dalam bentuk cerita pendek. Hal ini tentu bukan semata-mata menjadi kesulitan utama melainkan terdapat hal lain yang menjadi kesulitannya yaitu tahapan-tahapan dalam menulis cerita pendek, proses pengembangan ide cerita, pengembangan konflik, pengembangan karakter tokoh, dan penggunaaan bahasa yang tepat dalam mengembangkan isi cerita tersebut. Untuk memecahkan permasalahan tersebut, siswa kelas IX yang ada di SMP N 1 Batang Anai memerlukan pengetahuan yang lebih lengkap mengenai materi teks cerpen. Untuk memotivasi siswa agar mampu dan bersemangat dalam menulis teks cerpen, dalam pengabdian ini digunakan sebuah media, yaitu media audio visual. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Batang Anai memperoleh pengetahuan yang lebih mengenai cerpen sehingga memudahkan mereka dalam menulis cerpen. Berdasarkan masalah mitra, maka solusi yang ditawarkan akan dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan yaitu tahapan pertama dengan memberikan materi mengenai teks cerpen secara lengkap. Pada tahapan kedua, setelah siswa menguasai materi hakikat cerpen, kepada siswa diputarkan sebuah film pendek yang bertujuan untuk memberikan inspirasi ide bagi siswa dalam menulis cerpen. Tahapan ketiga, siswa menulis sebuah cerpen sesuai dengan film pendek yang telah diputarkan. Setelah cerpen ditulis siswa, hasil tulisan tersebut dikoreksi bersama-sama dengan seluruh siswa dan anggota tim pengabdian.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low ability of students to write argumentative texts that are logical, systematic, and evidence-based. The research aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) model based on the Toulmin Argumentation Pattern (TAP) in improving the argumentative writing skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Padang. The study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 37 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a performance test of argumentative writing and analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity testing, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain calculations. The results showed a significant increase in students’ argumentative writing skills after the implementation of the TAP-based ADI model, with the average score increasing from 59.60 (pretest) to 72.32 (posttest). The paired sample t-test produced a t-value of –18.714 with Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, while the N-Gain value of 0.31 fell into the medium category. These findings indicate that the TAP-based ADI model is effective in enhancing the argumentative writing skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Padang.
