Abstract

The name does not have the connotation of a particular language meaning, except to indicate what it is named after. Thus the name does not need to be translated into another language. In fact, when translated it will be prone to misunderstandings about what is meant. In the case of the translation of IAIN Kediri into Arabic carried out by the academic community of the Arabic language education study program, more than one variety of translations emerged, namely: 1) الجامعة الإسلامية الحكومية كديري dan 2) جامعة كديريالإسلامية الحكومية . This is due to differences in the techniques used to translate them. This inconsistency certainly resulted in the emergence of the allegation that the campus in question was different. This study uses a qualitative method by taking data from several student writings contained in thesis documents, papers, journal articles and books published by IAIN Kediri, web pages, and others and trying to find the most popular variety of translations. The findings of the analysis conclude that the technique of determining the equivalent of words in the two translations is exactly the same, namely using the generalization technique on the word institute, the reduction technique in the translation of Islamic religious words, the literal technique on the word Negeri and the borrowing technique which is naturalized on the word Kediri. Syntactic analysis concludes that there is a grammatical gap in the first translation model due to the use of a literal method that is oriented to the source text. While in the second translation model there is no grammatical gap, because the translation uses transmutation techniques so that the translation results have a pattern that is known in the target language.

Abstract

The view of structuralism is Language learning is the acquisition of habits that are strengthened by practice and reinforcement. Language is a skill that is obtained from the surrounding environment and then carried out through imitation and reinforcement methods. Among the Arabic language approaches is a structural approach which requires students to understand language formulas and terms, and students are required to memorize sentence models or word functions. In Arabic, we can see that learning with a structural approach is required to know fi'il, fa'il, maf'ul and many other linguistic terms. researchers use qualitative research and types of literature review or library research is an activity of studying reference books. This activity is useful for obtaining a theoretical basis related to the problem under study. Literature study is the activity of reading books and looking for references. The goal is for researchers to understand a topic or research theme. The structural theories are one of the other theories in the research of modern linguistics. He defined language as the spoken one, and that its acquisition by adding exercises, reinforcement, and so on is one of the most important principles in this theory. Hence, we knew that the structural theory had tried to focus the teaching of the language on the teaching of the spoken language, and by basing the teaching of grammar on it, it was hoped that the teaching of grammar seemed effective and important in the hearts of students.

Abstract

The study addresses the contemporary challenge of revitalizing Arabic grammar (nahwu) learning by examining the integration of classical and modern approaches within Islamic scholarship. This research has two primary objectives: first, to analyze how Arabic grammar material is presented in Ulul Albab by Ahmad Rifa’i; and second, to evaluate this presentation using Shawqi Dhoif’s theory of nahwu renewal. The research employs a qualitative design with a library research approach. Data collection was conducted through documentation and interviews: documentation involved the analysis of Ulul Albab and Shawqi Dhoif’s Tajdīd al-Nahw, while interviews were carried out with the author of Ulul Albab to strengthen the validity of interpretation. The findings reveal that Ulul Albab, completed in 2022 as Ahmad Rifa’i’s doctoral dissertation, systematically presents Arabic grammar rules accompanied by varied sentence examples, references to classical nadhm traditions, and practice exercises designed to enhance student comprehension. Analysis using Shawqi Dhoif’s renewal theory shows that four aspects of Rifa’i’s work align with the reformist perspective, while two aspects diverge or even contradict, largely due to the differing intellectual backgrounds: Ulul Albab draws heavily from classical grammatical works, whereas Tajdīd al-Nahw reflects Ibn Mada’s rationalist and textualist orientation. This research contributes to the field of Arabic linguistic studies and Islamic economics by demonstrating how nahwu renewal can promote more simplified, practical, and effective grammar instruction. Furthermore, it highlights the potential of Arabic literacy not only for academic learning but also for advancing Islamic economic literacy in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

Wordwall is one of the applications that is widely used in learning foreign languages. In Arabic language learning, wordwall is still studied and researched only at the level of qualitative research or only at describing its application process in learning. However, no one has tested it in the framework of the experiment to see its effectiveness. This study investigates the effectiveness of learning Arabic using Wordwall based on learning outcomes. It uses a pre-experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. It recruited 72 first-year students in the Arabic language reinforcement program under UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta Language Development Center. The primary data is collected using pretest and posttest results, and then the results are analyzed using the t-test. Findings revealed that using Wordwall in the Arabic learning process effectively improved the student's Arabic skills.
