Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) as one of the largest wastes produced in the crude palm oil (CPO) production process is one of the significant environmental challenges in the palm oil industry. POME contains low pH and also contains organic and highly nutritious materials so that it has the potential to be utilized. The land application method has been proposed as one solution to utilize POME sustainably. This study evaluated the utilization of POME through the land application method at PT. X, with a focus on the palm oil mill liquid waste management system and its effect on surface water quality. The data obtained showed that the PT.X palm oil mill liquid waste management system already succeeded in reducing BOD levels by 64.83%. The results of surface water quality tests in the upstream and downstream water bodies around the activity location also showed that most parameters were still below the quality standards required by the government regulations. However, supervision of the implementation of land application must always be carried out because it also has a risk of water pollution if not managed properly.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the relevance of dialects in the codification of Quranic recitation during the era of Caliph Uthman bin Affan. The methodology employed involves data collection through literature review and critical analysis of the Quranic text and various recitations, utilizing historical and linguistic approaches. The primary focus is on how the dialectal variations prevalent among Arab society influenced the establishment of a standard Mushaf (scripture), aiming to prevent fragmentation caused by diverse recitation practices. The research findings indicate that dialectal variations played a crucial role in the development and establishment of the official Quranic recitation, not only preserving textual unity but also strengthening social integration and religious understanding among Muslims. The codification process undertaken by Caliph Uthman proved a strategic step in responding to the dynamics of a multilingual and multicultural society, thus establishing stability in religious practice. Furthermore, Qira'at (recitation styles), as an orally transmitted tradition, reflects the rich culture of the Muslim community and serves as an effective means of preserving the originality of Quranic recitation. These findings highlight the importance of linguistic and sociological approaches in understanding the historical and social dynamics behind the codification of Qira'at and its implications for contemporary Islamic education. This research provides new insights into the relationship between language and religion, and emphasizes the need to preserve the tradition of Qira'at within the context of cultural diversity and the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Customary land disputes are recurring issues in various regions, including North Lombok Regency, which is rich in local wisdom and customary legal values. This study aims to analyze the juridical aspects of customary land disputes and examine the effectiveness of their resolution through mediation. The research employs a normative and empirical juridical approach by reviewing relevant legislation and conducting interviews with key stakeholders, such as traditional leaders, community members, and law enforcement officials. The findings reveal that resolving customary land disputes through mediation offers a more equitable and sustainable solution, as it accommodates local wisdom and community aspirations. However, challenges remain in implementation, including the lack of synergy between customary and positive law, as well as the limited capacity of mediators to fully understand local customary contexts. Therefore, strengthening regulations and institutional capacity is essential to promote more effective and just resolutions of customary land disputes.
