Abstract

Purpose: The management of used cooking oil waste poses a significant environmental challenge, as it is often not properly managed, resulting in negative impacts on human health and the environment. This training aimed to increase housewives’ knowledge about the dangers of used cooking oil waste, provide skills in making soap as an eco-friendly solution, and support family economies. Research methodology: This activity involved three stages: preparation, implementation, and monitoring evaluation. During the implementation stage, participants received materials on the impact of used cooking oil, a demonstration of soap-making, training in basic bookkeeping, and marketing techniques. Results: The evaluation results showed that 86.7% of the participants intended to apply training at home. The activity had a positive impact by raising environmental awareness and opening new business opportunities for participants. Limitations: This community service is limited to the scope of RW 016, Simpangan Village, and involves only 14 participants; therefore, generalizing the results to a broader community requires further evaluation. Contribution: This research is useful in the fields of community empowerment, environmentally-based waste management, and social entrepreneurship, particularly in densely populated areas with middle-to-low economic levels.

Abstract

The Advanced Independent Workforce (AIW) program plays a pivotal role in facilitating the development of micro and small enterprises in Indonesia. Nonetheless, various challenges, including inconsistent mentorship and limited evaluation mechanisms, impede its overall effectiveness. In response to these issues, a Dual Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) system was implemented to enhance the role of AIW mentors. This system comprises one-on-one meetings aimed at delivering personalized guidance, as well as onsite monitoring and evaluation to assess real-time business progress and operational challenges. This initiative was executed across multiple provinces in Indonesia, engaging mentors, mentees, and relevant stakeholders. The findings indicate that the DME system significantly enhances mentor effectiveness, bolsters business sustainability, and improves problem-solving capabilities. The one-on-one meetings afforded structured feedback and capacity-building opportunities for mentors, while onsite evaluations facilitated direct observation and timely interventions for mentees. The integration of direct engagement and field-based evaluation not only strengthened mentorship strategies but also increased mentee confidence and promoted adaptive business practices. This study underscores the importance of a structured mentoring model in workforce development and recommends the expansion of DME coverage, the incorporation of digital tools, and the development of standardized evaluation metrics. This approach presents a scalable model for analogous economic empowerment programs, thereby ensuring sustainable mentorship and the success of enterprises.

Abstract

This study is based on capacity-building theory, a key component of change theory, which emphasizes the importance of developing individual and organizational capacity to achieve sustainable change. In the context of correctional institutions (LAPAS), this theory helps explain how empowerment programs can improve inmates' ability to prepare for life after their sentence, with the aim of reducing recidivism through sustainable entrepreneurial skills. This study focuses on evaluating the impact of an agricultural entrepreneurship promotion program in Class IIA Cikarang Correctional Facility (LAPAS) on business sustainability and recidivism rates. The study used partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to develop two analytical models. Model 1 covers all respondents, while Model 2 covers inmates with no entrepreneurial experience or training. The main variables in this study include technical skills, entrepreneurial skills, social support, education and knowledge, motivation, business sustainability, and recidivism rates. The results of Model 1 show that technical skills, entrepreneurial skills, social support, and education have a positive impact on business sustainability, which contributes to reducing recidivism rates. Motivations and attitudes affect enterprise sustainability but have no direct effect on recidivism rates. Model 2 shows that technical skills and business sustainability significantly reduce recidivism rates, while entrepreneurial skills and social support act as mediators. The study concludes that agricultural business programs are very important for the economic sustainability and reduction of recidivism rates of prisoners after release, and recommends more intensive agricultural training and improved social support.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study explores the factors influencing repurchase intention in a family-owned bakery, Roti Ganda, by examining how food quality, price perception, brand trust, and brand love affect customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the context of Indonesia’s growing SME sector, understanding the emotional and rational drivers of customer behavior is crucial for sustaining competitive advantage. Background Problems: This study addresses the decline in repeat purchases at Roti Ganda by analyzing how customer perceptions and emotions shape repurchase intentions. Novelty: While prior research has independently examined rational or emotional factors, this study uniquely integrates both within a single model, highlighting customer satisfaction’s mediating role. Research Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted with 414 Roti Ganda customers using validated Likert-scale instruments. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test seven hypotheses. Finding/Results: Results show that food quality, price perception, and brand love significantly influence customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. Surprisingly, brand trust did not have a direct effect. Customer satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between product and emotional attributes and loyalty. Conclusion: Family businesses should prioritize product quality and emotional connection to enhance loyalty. Brand trust alone is insufficient without operational consistency. This study provides theoretical insight into emotional–cognitive integration and practical strategies for family-run food enterprises.
